  1. Burger is projected as a 2 win player right now by ZiPS, so I’d argue a decent amount. I mean the kid missed a ton of development and still came back with big numbers despite skipping two leagues. Plus he got his body into shape where he can play a solid 3B. He is not some throw in and you certainly don’t trade both him and Sheets for one year of a 3 win pitcher.
  2. Yes, but Pollock in LF & Engel in RF means no Vaughn in the lineup as Eloy would be the DH. Engel should not be starting over Vaughn on a regular basis.
  3. Why is Manaea going to cost considerably more than Bassitt or Gray?
  4. Signing bonus was paid up front and is simply allocated across all seasons for accounting purposes.
  5. You think Pollack is overpaid at $10M?
  6. Where @Two-Gun Pete at???
  7. Bonus is non-cash at this point. From what I can tell, we will owe him his $10M cash salary this year plus either a $10M salary for 2023 or a $5M buyout. His luxury payroll hit for both years appears to be $12M.
  8. Yeah, let’s not do this
  9. Oh got would I hate that trade. I normally don’t say this, but I hope you’re wrong ?
  10. You were on the money! So you think Romy++ for Manaea is next?
  11. I still would like to know what in the fact Haber does to add value.
  12. He’s also provided 1.5 fWAR so far in his career. Do I think it’s a reasonable probability he provides a total of 5.5 wins or 1.4 per season over his four last years? Yes I do and I’d probably be willing put some money on that happening.
  13. And what’s the average value provided by the 11th overall selection or someone in that range? Using a general 1st round is pretty disingenuous when a large portion of the total value is probably provided by the first couple picks.
  14. I’m defending the strategy, just pointing out that Crochet can still be plenty valuable and provide a solid return on an 11th overall selection.
  15. Does he need to be? He put 1.3 fWAR last year in in 54 mostly medium / low leverage innings. If his velocity returns to form and he’s used in high leverage situations he’s probably a 2 win guy. That’s plenty valuable for the 11th overall pick even if I’d rather have tried developing him a starter.
  16. Is his career over or something?
  17. Who was handled this way other than Sale & Crochett?
  18. I just don’t understand why they didn’t just sign a legit SP if you had $46M to spend?
  19. Hasn’t he batted there pretty much every game he’s played? Seems inevitable at this point.
  20. His issues clearly went beyond being a setup man. Personally I think he mostly wore down from a large innings increase and his mechanics got out of whack. I agree the adrenaline probably does help to some extent though and at this point I’d rather go with Kimbrel as closer and use Hendriks in a much more dynamic, high leverage role.
