Why do you think Schwarber is a way better bat than Conforto? Michael has a career 124 wRC+ while Kyle is at 118. You ripped Conforto’s batting average, but ignore Schwarber’s? And prior to this year Conforto had a career wRC+ 128 to Kyle’s 112. Schwarber has never had a season like he did in 2021 and you’d be paying him off a career year. On top of that, Kyle hasn’t been able to hit LHP prior to this year and had a wRC+ of 75. Conforto had a 97 wRC+ against LHP leading up to season, making him more than a pure platoon guy. I think people greatly overrate Schwarber because of “The Babe” image and are ignoring the fact Conforto has a much better track record prior to 2021 and can actually play a solid RF.

Probably should cost similar. Unfortunately, we don’t have any top 100 prospects, but maybe they would take Burger as a centerpiece. We’ll have to wait and find out I guess.

I gotcha and makes sense. Just feels like now would have been a good time to splurge on a starter since Keuchel will come off the books next year and we really have nobody waiting in the wings. Bassitt would be a fine addition, but a little nervous to speculate on what he might cost even as a one year rental.

I will never understand these Conforto takes. Low batting average, but strong walk rate and has a lot of power. I guess people still rely on batting average way too much.

I would actually be mad if they signed Baez to anything but the most unrealistic team friendly contract in baseball history. The defense is nice, but do not like offensive fit at all and the dude is going to get paid handsomely.

It would be a pretty epic fuck-up on their end. Like up there with trading Ray Durham to the A’s for Jon Adkins and not realizing you would have got a comp pick, acquiring Machado’s buddies for him not to sign with us, and trading James Baldwin to the Dodgers for the wrong player.
