Agree there, but I wouldn’t have overreacted to a small sample and gone with him as our starter in RF in 2021 even if was good.

IMO, Engel is a good 4th OF and there really isn’t a reason to see if he can be more that.

Cespedes or Colas would be the long-term RF. And Andrew Vaughn is going to be our DH (or 1B) next year so that position is more than covered. What is it you mean by a bench bat? What role is said playing?

There’s a very good chance we’re signing Cespedes or Colas as part of the upcoming signing class. We really just need a stopgap option. My money is on Joc being that guy whether or not some people hate that idea.

Blaming the hitting is ridiculous. The hitting has been amongst the best in baseball outside of the last week or so despite two guys clearly being impacted by COVID and a rookie finally hitting the wall. Only Ricky is to blame for his bad decision making.

Losing Collins didn’t kill dancing for dubs though

I didn’t want Calhoun at the time (was hoping for something more substantial), but damn would he have been a huge upgrade over Mazara.

Nothing about bringing in Nomar Mazara reflects good process. We got historically bad production out of RF in 2019 and instead of finding a nice 2 to 3 win player they gambled on a project that had only been slightly above replacement level in his four year career. Unfortunately that gamble didn’t pay off and now we still have a massive hole in RF.

Limping into the playoffs should certainly matter. He has literally sucked the life out of this team right when having confidence matters. I have never seen Jose Abreu look so deflated as he did after tonight’s loss.

If we fall to 3rd place I do kind of wonder if they contemplate making a manager move. Probably not, but damn I’d be concerned as fuck right now if I was Rick Hahn and watching how Ricky has managed this series.
