  1. The White Sox offered 6% more than the Phillies. To me, it’s really hard to say they did the bare minimum to try and land Wheeler.
  2. This is my absolute worst fear. Go for Ryu instead please.
  3. 100% agree and as I said in an earlier post our offer was about 20% above what most people thought he’d get. Hard to fault them for the miss, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we may not have been better offer throwing another $10M his way. Just depends on what we can do with that money now.
  4. I hate Pnoles as much as anyone, but he’s got a point. Not saying we should be up in arms over the miss, but money is only as valuable as your next best alternative.
  5. Wheeler is so much better than Bumgarner and it’s not even close. He also has like 1,000 less innings on his arm, elite stuff, and better fits our park. And please check out his road splits if he think HRs aren’t a problem with Madison.
  6. I’m just skeptical Ryu will leave L.A. / the West Coast until he does. He’s definitely the one fall back option that could help in the short-run.
  7. What’s this path your referring to? I can’t blame the Sox for losing out on Wheeler when they were the high offer and well above initial expectations, but this most definitely makes competing in 2020 that much harder.
  8. Yeah, playing catch-up on the plane. I’ve been a caught a few times with very out-dated posts...lol.
  9. Not sure how you define TOR stater, but he’s a top 2 starter in 90% of rotations and has untapped potential. He put up 9 fWAR over the past two seasons and can actually get better. He’s not an ace but either was Cole before he went to Houston. We aren’t getting an arm like his for under $200M.
  10. I’m not totally against Bumgarner, but he clearly lacks the TOR upside of Wheeler and his $100M rumored price is scary. But honestly, not sure what else we can do. Ryu is interesting, but if people thought Wheeler was an injury risk I don’t know what they see in this guy.
  11. Give this shit a fucking rest you spaz. The Sox are not an undesirable location, we just lost out because the money was just close enough and the tie-breaker was location. This fucking sucks, but it is what is.
  12. Glad this is leaking. Doesn’t change the fact that we’re in a tough fucking spot now, but at least they were aggressive as fuck and tried to get Wheeler signed.
  13. Great, and when our #2 starter next year is Dallas fucking Keuchel we can all cry as we miss the playoffs.
  14. I’m not sure you realize this, but Wheeler has been a damn good starter for two straight years. The untapped upside is just the cherry on top.
  15. Lol...Wheeler was a top 15 starter last year by fWAR and has untapped potential. He’s worth every penny he just got paid.
  16. It’s sad that White Sox fans care more about spending efficiency than winning actual baseball games. There isn’t another 4 win starter within our reach, so yeah it’s great we have all this money but it’s value is limited when impact players are no longer available.
