  1. And Collins at 1B. At least they’re finding ways to get all the interesting guys in the lineup.
  2. I completely agree. Will be interesting and somewhat telling how they handle 1B & DH this offseason.
  3. While I think he’s a bit of a long-shot, I really hope Zaleski eventually gets the job. He seems like the one guy in the organization leveraging Trackman data and actually proactively working with guys to make changes to their arsenal. Lambert & Stiever are just two examples of guys who have made major strides under him. I think him landing the job would be a sign of a slowly modernizing front office. That being said, I worry that Curt Hasler will just be handed the job.
  4. So Don Cooper is 63 years old and has to be getting close to the end of the road. Therefore, I thought it would be interesting to speculate who will be his eventual replacement. I’ve created two polls, one with who you think gets the job and second with who you want to get the job. Vote away!
  5. I now just assume if there are multiple posts in the minor league gamethread before 11am that Bailey drew a walk.
  6. I think they will be a bit more aggressive with Vaughn because so many of the young pieces will already be up and they will be looking to compete next year. They were able to be a bit more patient with Madrigal and Robert to a lesser extent because this was a lost season.
  7. And just so we can all chuckle at Jack’s overreaction a bit more, Vaughn has a wRC+ of 140 at W-S despite a .282 BABIP. He also has more walks than strikeouts.
  8. Maybe it’s a good sign we were most connected to him & Vaughn.
  9. Sorry fathom, but we can’t have two 1B with a Rendon comp and Gavin Sheets already has claim to it!
  10. I didn’t even realize it had been that long, which is even more reason not overreact to his DSL numbers.
  11. So wait, he just missed one and then actually got one? Kid is a fucking stud.
  12. I mean, he probably does suck based on his Cuban League numbers, but he was out for a while prior to this season, has a ridiculously low BABIP, and was always going to be a project offensively. Your expectations are way off here.
  13. It’s not park adjusted, only league I believe.
  14. Collins now 3/3 with a HR. Prior to tonight’s game, here are his stats since his demotion: 15.1% BB rate, 19.4% K rate, .227 ISO, .320/.430/.547/.977, .375 BABIP, 149 wRC+ Obviously that BABIP is running a bit high, but otherwise his numbers have really taken a turn for the best.
  15. Sheets has a wRC+ of 145 since mid May and that’s playing half his games in one of the most pitcher friendly parks in all of the minors. He’s arguably been one of the best hitters in the entire Southern League this year, at least since his adjustment period.
  16. The signing bonus was spread out over three years, but the Red Sox sent over cash to cover it all. We aren’t on the hook for anything but his current salaries.
  17. Jack - Have you tried networking with anyone in the Chemical Engineering field? Have you looked at unpaid internships, if those exist? You’ve got to really think outside of the box, because no one is going to hand you a job when you’re in your mid 30’s with a complete lack of real job experience.
  18. I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying, but Boston covered Moncada’s signing bonus and corresponding penalty. He’s essentially owed the minimum for us.
  19. Guaranteed up-front money means it was already paid?
  20. Lucas has a real shot at the single game strikeout record right now.
