  1. The median payroll is ~$125M and yes I fully expect that much minimum. If not, then it’s clear Reinsdorf is trying to profit off the rebuild (which I didn’t believe to be the case).
  2. It’s really simple, just bring in several impactful players. There is no magic dollar amount or years threshold. I think Grandal will be one of the best players on the market and we might be able to get him for like 3/$60M. Do I really care if the total commitment is less than Abreu’s original deal? Fuck no. The more important item is sporting a league average payroll or better. If they do that, I will likely be happy wit the results of the offseason.
  3. If they don’t spend big this offseason, then the fanbase should riot. Now is the time to be aggressive.
  4. Lol at 2021 at the earliest. If this team is not contending by 2021 then the rebuild has been a total flop. The goal should be to compete next year. Whether the young guys take the necessary steps forward is a TBD, but wasting another year of Moncada, Giolito, etc. would be absolute insanity. The clock starts ticking this offseason.
  5. A mutual option is basically the same as being a free agent.
  6. Than a veteran if Collins or Sheets aren’t the answer?
  7. Realistically, I’d probably do something like this long-term: Madrigal, 2B Robert, CF Moncada, 3B# Vaughn, 1B Jimenez, LF Veteran, RF* Anderson, SS Collins/Sheets/Vet, DH* McCann/Vet, C That’s a ton of speed up-top. I can’t even imagine dealing with those first three guys if I was an opposing pitcher. While I’d prefer Moncada batting 2nd, he’s able to break up all the righties by batting 3rd. That lineup would also have power across the board except Madrigal. I still hope they go hard after Grandal because he’d be an ideal #6 hitter in that lineup.
  8. How does it tell us that? All I see from this random sidebar is these three guys are proof that young players can get better and injured guys can get healthy in a blink of the eye. So next year, we could see Eloy & Cease take massive leaps forward and Kopech be an impact player right out of the gate. And in terms of roster construction, we should have nine former top 50 overall prospects on our roster by mid April next year, all of whom will be 26 years of age or younger. Six of these guys were top 10 or 20 prospects to boot. Those guys represent the vast majority of our future core. Will we have to supplement via trade and free agency? Of course we will, but when you’re sitting on ~$45M in payroll commitments (most of which expire after the 2020 season), you should be able to plug a lot of holes in one offseason. A competent GM would be able to take the sum of our parts and create a contender for 2020 in a really weak division. I have zero doubts that Hahn will be aggressive this offseason, but whether he adds the right pieces remains to be seen.
  9. He said nothing about offseason targets, he simply said they’d be more aggressive in the offseason, which rationalizes why they didn’t sell at all this deadline. You are turning this into something it’s not.
  10. No, it’s really not. You’re just angry and drawing conclusions that fill your rage. Now, he may come out swinging his dick again this offseason and by all means rip him then, but what he said after the trade deadline should only be viewed as a positive unless you wanted to tank another year.
  11. No, it just means they plan on adding more than filler next offseason, which is pretty much a certainty. You seem to be taking his comment and drawing much more ambitious conclusions.
  12. What did he say other than they plan to be more aggressive next offseason?
  13. I’d say Heuer not making the top 30 is probably the biggest surprise, but given the reliever profile I can understand why he missed the cut.
  14. I’m going to guess the Top 30 consists of the following guys: Corner Infield (4): Vaughn, Sheets, Burger, Krogman Middle Infield (4): Madrigal, Sosa, Sanchez, Rodriguez Outfield (8): Robert, Walker, Basabe, Adolfo, Rutherford, Gonzalez, Bush, Beard Catcher (1): Collins LH Pitching (2) Pilkington, Flores RH Pitching (11): Kopech, Cease, Dunning, Stiever, Dalquist, Thompson, Lambert, Hamilton, Johnson, Hansen, Burdi
  15. This most definitely doesn’t apply to the White Sox & Renteria.
  16. Yup, one high-end starter and one high-end RH reliever is what we need plus a depth starter or swing-man. After that, we’ll rely on some of the young arms such Hamilton, Schryver, Ruiz, Fulmer, etc. to step up and/or serve as bullpen depth. Wouldn’t be surprised if they add a few veteran arms for Charlotte’s pen, but saying we’re 10 short on arms is fucking ridiculous.
  17. Lol...or I should have just let the source speak for himself.
  18. @SoxAce said Pilkington was hitting 94 MPH a few start ago.
  19. The Astros didn’t sign anyone on the level of Machado, so that parallel doesn’t really hold true. The Sox will most certainly spend money and supplement the young core (even if it’s not Cole or Rendon), the bigger question is will they sign the right guys or end up with more busts.
  20. Based on what? What have the White Sox done to draw that conclusion? If anything, selling international bonus slots for cash says the the White Sox plan to spend money this offseason in their own demented way. I don’t hate Josh Nelson, but these SoxMachine clowns (minus Margulas) turn everything into the end of the world. It’s enduring as fuck and it’s hard to take them serious sometimes even though they clearly know their baseball.
  21. Almost every company does an exit interview with HR when somebody quits...
