I just think optically this sends a terrible message after Hahn screamed we had “unprecedented financial flexibility” & “economic might” all-season. At least try to get the best young players possible instead of cash. But to your point, the bigger question is how did we fail so badly with this signing class after two years in the penalty box.

100% disagree on Abreu. You either get a solid piece or hold onto him. There are off the field considerations you are ignoring, such as how the broader fansbase would react to dealing our most recognizable name for nothing and potentially tertiary impacts to Moncada.

Statcast LOVES Reyes’ quality of contact this year. Really comes down to defense with him, but if the bat is legit he can still be plenty valuable at DH.
