  1. Yeah, I’ve never understood the point of a mutual option.
  2. Is this move actually happening? I really, really hope it’s bullshit. Ex-Royals are the absolute worst. It’s like they’ve been cursed by that gypsie lady from Drag Me to Hell. I know Herrera was on the Nationals for a few months, but that’s not nearly long enough to wipe off that Royals stank. Three years minimum outside of KC before you can even consider bringing one of those chumps to the South Side. Let’s just hope Hahn is smart enough to realize this so we can avoid the fan revolt that would certainly result from Herrera’s pending flop.
  3. Yeah I should of clarified, much more skeptical of the Phillies part than the Yankees part. Two years is a long time to wait on Mike Trout. And I doubt the Phillies would be scheduling an in person with Bryce if they weren’t mostly serious about a legit pursuit.
  4. The part that excites me is about the Yankees & Phillies. If there’s any truth to what Max is saying (which I’m skeptical of), it would be absolutely huge for us.
  5. I would too, but I guess we got to trust Hahn & KW understand the process and know when to push more chips in.
  6. No, three year deals are always riskier than one year deals. I know you hate vets, but arguing this is quite frankly ridiculous.
  7. MLBtraderumros projects 1/$8M which would be perfect for us if Ottavino really wants three years.
  8. If we land Machado, I’m ok with Avi on a cheap one-year, contract to mix in with Palka & Alonso.
  9. Lol...let’s give someone the internet tough guy of the day award! But getting back to the point, my argument was projection systems don’t know how to project for young players. I never said anything about our players other than I expect Lopez to blow his Steamer projection out of the water. Since you’re an expert on projection systems, what is the MAPE for a guy in his first two seasons relative to a guy five years deep? Pick whatever system you like, do you really think the MAPEs would be the same? Unlike you, I’ll withhold judgment until I hear what you have to say.
  10. I agree. When it comes to young relievers, I like having several guys competing for spots and then allowing the winners to prove themselves in low leverage situations. If all goes well, the first group moves into high leverage roles and the next wave gets their opportunity.
  11. Not just minor leaguers, but also guys in their first or second major league season. Lopez would be a perfect example of a guy who I expect to take big leap in year 2 and blow his steamer projection out of the water.
