Dallas Keuchel time is now.
100% agree. We should not be forgoing a high 2nd round to pick to add an older free agent pitcher a year before they’re actually needed. 12 months from now could be a different story. Also, while the pitching market has no doubt taken a big hit with Sale & Verlander agreeing to extensions, there are still some interesting arms that should be available next offseason. Cole is definitely a pipedream at this point, but any of Bumgarner, Porcello, Wacha, Wheeler, & Wood could prove to be useful additions. Obviously I’d prefer a more impactful arm than those guys, but at the end of the day there aren’t a ton of consistent, high-end pitchers in the game right now. Adding a guy who can hopefully be a 3+ win pitcher may be good enough for what we need with Cease & Kopech entering the fold.

Spring Training Thread
Not to beat a dead horse, but the Indians’ front office is leagues ahead of ours.

Eloy officially got paid
What a disgusting post.

Luis Robert to Start Season in A+
Luis Robert is 21 years old, there is zero reason to rush given the complete lack of development he’s had these past few years. Let him prove himself at High A and AA this year. If all goes well, he’s up sometime in 2020 as a 23 year old.

3/24 Sox vs Indians, 2pm, NBCSC
Sure, but Machado, a legit OF (like Joc), and a SP upgrade greater than Nova could have made things interesting with enough growth from our young guys.

3/24 Sox vs Indians, 2pm, NBCSC
Sorry, I just can’t help myself in this case, because a serious Ramirez injury and a limited Lindor significantly weakens the Tribe and it would have been awesome if we had enough pieces in place to take advantage of that.

Honestly, if it Ramirez misses a big chunk of the season, it changes the entire complexion of the division. Unfortunately without Machado in the fold, it doesn’t do enough to help us.

Roster Cuts Thread
They’re only going with four SP.

Roster Cuts Thread
I’m assuming they trade at least two of Colome, Herrera, & Jones before the deadline and possibly all three.

Burr, Banuelos, Covey to Pen
What’s wrong with Covey in the bullpen? Plus he’s probably the odd man odd once Santana is ready.

2019 MiLB catch all thread
How that guy was ever a top 100 prospect is mind-blowing to me.

2019 Minor League Rotations
100% agree, we really need Lambert to have a big year and able to be a depth piece heading into 2020. I fully expect the 2020 rotation to be Rodon, Lopez, Kopech, Cease along with a veteran via free agency. If Lambert can be the #6 guy down in AAA, that would help offset the loss of Dunning, who will still need development / recovery time.

Ian Happ
Why in the fuck would the Cubs ever do this?
-
Ian Happ
I don’t agree with the Tommy Kahnle reference at all. Selling high on him is another story, I’m just not sure Happ is the best return. His value is way down at the moment and another strong season from Fry makes him a serious trade asset.
-
Ian Happ
I mean realistically? Jace Fry would probably be of interest to the Cubs, but I don’t think I’d actually make that trade.

Joc Pederson: ???
Are you referring to the Machado stuff or the Joc stuff?

2019 MLB draft thread
Would fucking amazing if Witt went #1 and then the Royals decided to take Vaughn because they’re high on an existing catching prospect.

FS: White Sox Should Be Pleased With 3rd Pick
You always take BPA. If that’s Vaughn, Gavin Sheets shouldn’t prevent you from taking him no matter how well he is doing.
-
Joc Pederson: ???
Then what is the point? I posted the Joc nugget simply because it confirmed what some insiders here suggested and felt that was worth sharing after all the heat they took. I wasn’t using it to suggest Hahn is good or had a great offseason or didn’t bungle the Machado situation.
-
Joc Pederson: ???
You may find this hard to believe, but I hate Rick Hahn more than you do. I just try to be objective in my criticism of him.
-
Joc Pederson: ???
What is stupid about this? Like I am so confused here. That they changed their mind? Teams change their minds all the time for all sorts of reasons.
-
Joc Pederson: ???
What point am I missing exactly? Please elaborate because otherwise this just comes off as a douchey response.
-
Joc Pederson: ???
No, I’m not suggesting any one thing in particular, just that teams reached out to the Dodgers afte the leak and expressed some viewpoint on value (whether current or in the future) that caused the Dodgers to reasses their decision to take the White Sox’s offer.
-
Joc Pederson: ???
Ok, now I’m convinced your an internet-based algorithm. Twitter did not make them realize it was a bad trade. The Twitter leak allowed other teams to see the offer the Sox had made and allowed them to express their own viewpoints on value. The Dodgers then reassessed the situation and decided they needed more from the Sox to pull the trigger. None of this is very far-fetched and I’m shocked you’re struggling with this so much.
