  1. Well if you actually listened to Hahn’s interview, he was pretty salty about the fanbase being outraged. That alone makes the non-stop b****ing from myself and others worthwhile IMO. But beyond the message board b****ing, maintaining the anger will help suppress attendance and impact the bottom line, which is the only thing we can do as fans to voice our displeasure and help force change even if this accountability-free organization is unlikely to do anything about. Again, if you want to enjoy this shit product the more power to you, but stop trying to make Soxtalk your own little safe space.
  2. No offense bud, but if you’re looking for rainbows & unicorns, then maybe you should stick to Scott Merkin fluff pieces and avoid Soxtalk altogether for some time. People have a right to be pissed about the state of affairs and the moment we take our foot off the front office’s throat is the same moment they win despite what has been a lackluster product for nearly a decade now.
  3. Gotta disagree here. Both the minors and free agency were going to have an impact on the rebuild’s success. A huge part of the value proposition of a rebuild is the financial flexibility that comes with it and Rick Hahn said as much when we kicked this thing off at the beginning. And no offense, while it’s great you don’t give a fuck about Machado for some reason, that also means you honestly believed relying solely on prospects was somehow going to work and that’s just horribly flawed logic. I normally agree with most of your opinions, but must respectfully question your view on the Machado / free agency angle here.
  4. What other alternative was there? We had no farm system and limited financial flexibility? It was always going to be rebuild or bust whether you like that strategy or not.
  5. Lol...we can’t even sign guys like JDM or Goldschmidt under these parameters. If these clowns are serious, the rebuild is completely fucking doomed.
  6. But you just said it, the market is top heavy with team prioritizing under 30 stars for good reason. We’ll basically be fishing in the over 30 category and history has suggested that’s a dangerous game to play.
  7. I agree, but they will be older, high risk guys unfortunately.
  8. Trout was never going to happen, but it take another star out of the general free agent pool meaning it will only be harder for us to ever land a young impact player.
  9. No one in the world is buying White Sox tickets for Carlos fucking Gonzalez...you’re taking this marketing stuff way too far Caulfield.
  10. I’d honestly rather have Jay than Cargo.
  11. You do remember when he called it a good offseason right? Said his colleagues told him so.
  12. At least Santana is somewhat in line with the market if heathy. Nova is a gross overpay at this point.
  13. Thanks for the info patc and very interesting theory. Glad I was totally off-base with the 18 month recovery.
  14. Updated post Dunning’s TJS.
  15. I thought he was simply going in to evaluate options? Can they really just pull off this type of surgery that same day or was Hahn full of shit? Regardless, when will he likely be back? Maybe I’m missing something, but if it’s an 18 month reocery would he miss the entire 2019 season plus most of the 2020 season as well? Talk about the worst possible timing.
  16. Didn’t Carranza have TJS?
  17. Which is true, but run him out there until he gets hurt and then call up Adam if need be. I think there’s a much better chance Leury develops into an actual useful player / trade chip than Engel.
  18. Also, in regards to Nuñez, I don’t want to be that guy, but dude struck out in 27% of his plate appearances. It does seem like he was making hard contact when he connected, but he’ll get eaten alive in full season ball if he doesn’t develop some plate discipline.
  19. What is Fegan getting at when he says he look like a DUDE? Like his play is simply standing out or that physically he’s shown some serious growth?
  20. From what I saw of him last year, he didn’t look noticeably bad behind the plate, but that doesn’t necessarily mean much and it’s really hard to tell much from the camera angles they use on the MILB TV app. I remain skeptical simply based on the vast amount of reports criticizing his defense, but am keeping a small sliver of hope he can figure his shit out this year.
  21. Birmingham will definitely be the most interesting rotation once Hansen is promoted. I’m a huge Lambert fan and really think Flores has a chance to make it as a major league starter despite his low K rate. Even Medeiros should be a fun guy to follow. Winston-Salem to me is far and away the most boring, although I’m excited to see how McClure looks this year. He is way more interesting to me than Henzman, but I may be in the minority there. I do feel that Kannapolis rotation could be a bit of a sleeper. Really high on Stiever and am banking that the Sox’s optimism in Pilkington is warranted. We really need one of those guys to step up and cement themselves as a top 10 system guy.
  22. I did a quick check before I made my initial post and it sounded like he should be ready for the start of the season, but it’s possible that information is dated.
  23. Thanks for sharing. Thought Tomshaw was gone and didn’t realize Martinez had been released. Also, good call on the Charlotte #5 spot as there’s a good chance it’s Santana.
  24. Just demote Engel and go with some combo of Leury & Jay in CF. Far from ideal, but I’d like to see Palka get the majority of ABs in RF and I’ve seen enough of Adam to know he’s nothing more than a 4th OF.
