Quentin sought after by BOS
QUOTE The Braves are "hot" for White Sox right fielder Carlos Quentin, tweets Rosenthal, and the Sox love Atlanta's young arms. However, one holdup is the thumb injury to Dayan Viciedo, who would replace Quentin in Chicago's lineup

Danks1 also on the market?
Very tricky situation with D1 but you almost are guaranteed of a better haul with 1.5 years of him left than 0.5.

This trade deadline negotiating stuff is tricky, you gotta be somewhat flexible as well.

I threw out a scenario where you try to work on the ego of some GM by reducing your asking price on CQ and throwing in some salary relief for Rios (Maybe up to 30-40%). It rids you of a sizeable bad contract to some degree and you still get something in return for CQ. Dunno just a hypothetical idea.

I think Danks has the talent to be a bonafide number 2 pitcher in the AL East. Ace not sure about.

I agree, selling as high as we can on him would literally consitute capitulation and starting all over with the youth movement.

Danks1 also on the market?
Links: http://bronxbaseballdaily.com/2011/07/mlb-...-on-the-market/ https://twitter.com/#!/Ken_Rosenthal/st...222026397782017 Apologies if this topics/links were posted but more fodder for the Trade Winds 2011 forum. Seems KW may also dangle Danks1 and the Yanks may bite. What kind of haul could we ask for? The Mariners by comparison are asking quite a high price for Bedard who is 6-7 years older and much more fragile than Danks1. Link: http://twitter.com/#!/Sean_McAdam/stat...979281263493120 Thoughts?

Kenny did mention in his chat yesterday that other GM's were certainly asking about certain players and quite often IIRC. So maybe this is not so far fetched.

Dang sure agree with that. Whoulda thunk he would be in such a funk after 100 games?

Just for the heck of it I am gonna throw this out there even though it is a major bonehead question. What if CQ's value is so high for either Phili or Atlanta that we entice (Or try) to get them to take Rios from us and we lower the asking price and throw in some salary relief. Interesting angle but it would rid us of the worst of the 3 sand bags. As bad as Peavy's and Dunn's contracts are at least they try when they are out there.

DOH, my bonehead mistake, meant ALDS. Sorry.

I respect that, I just think with our feast or famine offense (More famine than feast) we will get shut down by Boston's pitching staff if we meet them in the NLDS. But you are right anything can happen in the playoffs.

Rowand, the way Ozzie and KW have been crazy stubborn this year to hang on to their own pipe dreams, I don't know what will happen. It really makes sense now to sell both CQ and Danks high but i just don't know what to expect from KW.

Quentin sought after by BOS
This goes hand in hand with my previous quote. I just don't see the team getting very far if in fact it can limp into the playoffs. I would see us as once and done in the NLDS.

Heck, I could live with that if we get a good haul. This "All In" we were peddled just never got off the ground. Time to start thinking of the future soon. Our "All In" window is really not that great for going forward. And speaking of cost controlled good young arms apart from Humber/Floyd as locked in for next year everyone else is a question mark. We may be able to re-sign Buerhle to a home town discount this time around but Peavy is a risk every year now and Danks I expect to be gone as well. I don't see him resigning with us if we keep him until next year. At least if he rebounds and has a strong 2012 and we offer him arb he might be a Type A FA and get us 2 good picks (Worse case scenario).

This. Agree 1000%. Does anyone know his splits hitting against the NL in intra league play? It is rather surprising he has fared so poorly against LH pitching in 09/10 before this year.

Job Hunt Thread
Quick question here, fan from Spain. I am not looking but have a brother who is looking for a good IT position in the Loop. Does anyone know any company hiring a good desktop support tech with over 15 years experience?

DeAza with a .892 OPS in Charlotte

Adam Dunn Articles and Quotes thread
This is going to be a massive issue for the Sox until the season plays itself out. I read a few posts back that Dunn could possibly have developed vision problems. Is that just a rumor or is there some possible truth to it?

If he does decide to hang it up after this season, he will have made about 55 million according to COTS. He has made enough to go on to other things if he saved/invested wisely. I mentioned this a few weeks ago but I don't think there is any shame in walking away like Gil Meche did in KC. I think he will put more pressure on himself by the time the season ends than anybody can. I just hope he does the right thing at the time.
