Santana should be done with that pitch count.
-
I mis-read EJax on a couple of at bats cuz he was looking like it was gonna be a high pitch count game but he is doing really well. The slider is working well now. Let´s hope he can go into the 8th and just leave it to the BP to mop up. GO SOX!!
-
He looks off tonight again. Has the makings of a high pitch count game by the 5th/6th inning. Getting behind on most counts. ** Maybe not **.

Finally we capitalize on an error and some alert base running!! GO SOX!!!!

The midget completely outmatched on that 95 MPH heat. Gone. Game pretty much over. Man if we get swept outta town by a team with no talent we are hitting rock bottom early this year. -

It really seems like the team´s collective pysche is shattered right now. They are just standing there and taking called 3rd strikes. -
It should not matter if he is under our control for 6 more years after his initial 4 year contract is up, should it? Think Kalapse explained that somewhere.
-
This, I doubt we get anything for him in a trade, but you never know. Would luv to get one of those 11 draft picks the Rays have piled up. Especially in either the 1st or 2nd round, yeah right.

Question that begs to be asked, were these runs earned or un-earned??

Millidge tearing it up, making that last roster spot an easy decision!!!

Good article up by Mark Gonzalez. JR still mentioning payroll and how the early ticket sales haven't really spiked with the "All In" approach. But it is still early days and if they start fast out of the gate he hope to draw 2.6-2.8 million for the year to offset the payroll increases. OT - Is it me or has JR been more vocal this year about both his teams (Bulls/Sox) than previous years? I could swear I have seen more article quoting him that in recent years. Link: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,6471672.story Article: A stronger commitment to player payroll and resources hasn't translated to a spike in season ticket sales according to Jerry Reinsdorf. Nevertheless, the White Sox chairman is hopeful they will avoid the sluggish starts that hampered them the last two seasons. "Our fans are optimistic and enthusiastic," Reinsdorf told beat writers Wednesday. "They want to see it out on the field. It's important we get off to a good start." But Reinsdorf isn't begging fans for their financial trust. "We put the risk on ourselves," said Reinsdorf, who decided committing payroll to winning now was wiser than trading talent and going young because there is no guarantee those moves would make them better in two or three years. "We're spending the money. We never expected people to go wild and buy tickets like mad. We know we have to prove we have a team worthy of winning the division. If we do, we'll draw better. Last year's attendance (2.28 million) was the lowest in a long time, so it's obvious we have enough fans to come out and have us draw 2.6-2.8 (million) if they like what they see." Reinsdorf did say sponsorship sales were up and that higher television ratings could generate higher revenues. That could help defray the increase in payroll after strong consideration was given to not re-signing free agents Paul Konerko and A.J. Pierzynski and trading more players who would have lowered payroll with the possibility of getting better in two or three years. "As we looked at the rest of the players we could move, without getting into particulars, it didn't look like we could get enough back so all we would end up doing was having a worse team with a low payroll," Reinsdorf said. "We would make money, but we wouldn't be building for the future. "I didn't mind taking a step back because we have done it before. But I didn't want to take a step back without feeling really good that step back was going to help us going forward." Reinsdorf said a successful start and spike in home attendance would cover the higher payroll, adding that they would have the resources to sustain a financial loss if they start slowly. "That was really the thought process, the idea of being bad for two to three years was a horrible thought when you're 75-years-old," said Reinsdorf, who added he recently passed a stress test. Reinsdorf also said he doesn't anticipate any tension resurfacing between general manager Ken Williams and manager Ozzie Guillen. "No, that was foolishness that grew out of Oney's twitters or tweets or whatever they are called," Reinsdorf said in reference to the controversy surrounding Guillen's middle son Oney last season. "That's not going to happen." "These guys have too much of a history of getting along and working. There's a natural tension between managers and general managers and head coaches and general managers. It always exists. It will flare up from time to time. Right now, they are on the same page."

Kewl, I'm gonna see if I can find some AAA projects who fit this bill too.

Any one worried aout the lack of hitting so far? I mean they really haven't torn the cover off the ball. -
If you look at today's Giants line up it reall ins't that intimidating.

Did Rios leg out that triple? MLB TV is supposed to be showing the game but the video feed isn't working.

This. If we take back a no name prospect with a little bit if upside at least negates the money we would have to take back on a similar bad contract. If the trade could involve a prospect who needs a change of scenery then we just eat salary at the MILB level which is way less that an inflated MLB contract. Can anyone think of any prospects out there that fit this bill?

NSS72/JPN, what are your thoughts from Carter´s performance in AA and his peripherals/talent going forward. Does he have the stuff for long relief, set up man, or closer? His ERA was a tad high at Birmingham last year but it seems he finally started to find his niche. He seems to have a better future as reliever rather than closer. -
I really hope Morel picks it up these last 3 weeks and up his average. In the ST sample size he is at .241 but only has 2 K´s which is encouraging. He would need an OBP of .340'.350 to really start to blossom.

I agree that in a bench role Lillibridge brings more to the tabel for his price than Teahan ever will. No one is gonna take Teahan off our hands unless we eat salary which is not wise. What a mess KW got himself into with that horrible extension and Teahan had not proved a darn thing yet.

Another real cool piece of soxtalk history is that I am offically part of 1000 post CLUB!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it were not for the terrible injury last year, I would have pegged Jared Mitchell for one of the corner spots, oh well..
