I guess from a tactical point of view RF would be his more natural position if you could call it that. The question then becomes what do youdo with CQ?
-
I´ve never really seen or read at what % he K´s on most. Is it straight powr pitches or does he get fooled a lot by off speed and breaking stuff?
-
Very small sample size of 15 at bats but he seems to be concentrating a bit more. Still Kíng way too much with 4K´s in 15 at bats which is about 26.5%.
-
Gotcha, but you would think this would be an absolute must as part of his rehab now. As much as I love for the farm to turn our more relievers I would really like to see if he could be a project for starter. Has Coop even mentioned him yet with the sucess he has had on the lower minors?
-
For a player of Viciedo´s speed and athletic ability which corner is harder to play and patrol? Left or Right? I mean he has come into ST in far better shape than previous years and has a supposed cannon for an arm. What thinks ye?
-
He is up against his former team, hope he pitches lights out. 5 innings would be great. GO SOX, JFP!!!

I have high hopes Morel is going to be an above average hitting 3rd baseman. Not a batting champ or OBP machine but decent enough to start and compliment his solid defense.
-
NSS72, thanx for the great update. I didn´t know what his bread and butter pitches were and had not really looked at his past performances in depth. How many ticks can he realistically put on his heater? 2-3? If he can do that and spot his fastball then what are the chances for him to be a starter in your opinion (Provided he gets into a steady conditioning program)?

Viciedo fractures thumb during ST game on HBP
chisoxfan09 replied to ScottyDo's topic in Pale Hose Talk
What indications do we have he can´t play a lick of defense in the outfield? Is it his path or trajectory he taks on outfield routes to the ball? Is it his jump? But more importantly as we have noted just in this thread about Morel´s MLB hitting prospects isn´t this a relatively small sample size to judge Viciedo´s outfield defense? -
Not to hurry him at all but it would be great if he can make the jump of High A to AA in the middle of the season. That could put him on track for the Majors (Sep 2012 call up) next year.

JPN, great job as always!! I notice in AA (Your back yard of course) you have Remenowsky as a relieiver and not closing. Is that by design? Have they made the decision to groom him as either a short or long reliever and take him away from closing duties where he was so lethal? I always had hope he could be our closer of the future with those K/BB splits per 9 innings.

Great read, JFP is a classic warrior in the sense of the word. Lookin for him to have a cautiously good year.

I like Thorton because of the experience but Sale can also do some damage. Go choice to have.

Good game for the Danks brothers!!

New article up (He has shown up in better shpae and has been hitting better although the K's are still a concern): Link: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...75&start=75 After leaving his native Cuba nearly three years ago and adjusting to a new country and culture, learning how to play right field might not seem that difficult for Dayan Viciedo. The 21-year-old White Sox slugger continued his adjustment from the infield Tuesday when he threw out Ben Paulsen at home plate in addition to collecting three hits in a 9-8 victory over the Rockies. "He's making it harder for a lot of people, no doubt," manager Ozzie Guillen said. Viciedo made two impressive plays March 1 during his right field debut with the Sox and appears more comfortable with each game. "There might be a few errors here and there, but that should be seen as natural because I'm relearning that position," said Viciedo, who occasionally played right field in Cuba. Viciedo faces stiff competition for the backup outfield job, but he has more power than Alejandro De Aza, Lastings Milledge and Brent Lillibridge. He hit a combined 25 home runs with Triple-A Charlotte and the Sox last season, and the Sox hope he can make the transition successfully as Kevin Mitchell and Carlos Lee did early in their careers. Guillen said Viciedo made his early success possible by reporting to camp in shape. "I don't want to be known as the chubby boy," Viciedo said. "I want to be known as the strong guy. I worked hard at that." The biggest test for Viciedo, who has played third and first base for most of his career, is relearning the outfield skills he developed in Cuba. "The hardest thing is keeping up with the pitchers and what they are going to pitch to make adjustments during the game," Viciedo said. "You pretty much have to keep moving just to have scenarios of where the ball might land. "The biggest difference is that when you play third base, on every pitch you have to be on point because something might be coming toward you. When you are in the outfield, you might get a fly ball every once in a while. You might have a dribbler coming out there. You are not as intense in your concentration." Guillen tempered the suggestion Viciedo could push starting right fielder Carlos Quentin, adding Viciedo would benefit from staying at one position. "He has had only a couple of years in baseball, and we moved him from third base to first base, first base to third base," Guillen said. "It's not easy. He has handled it very well. I hope he continues to play like that, and hopefully he (helps) us make the decision of what we're going to do. That's exciting."

Albert Pujols' extension - Cards fail to extend by deadline
chisoxfan09 replied to chisoxfan09's topic in The Diamond Club
Anyone think the injury/surgery to Wainright will affect the Card's outlook on payin Pujols? -
PTATC, have you ever seen an advantage to the pitching motion or arm strength if a lanky or really skinny player bulks up and gains weight and also gains strength in their arm?

HI8IS, make sure you go to Rush Street and party!!!

Mark Buehrle talks about the future after 2011
chisoxfan09 replied to chisoxfan09's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Scott Merkin has a nice article up about Buehrle continuing to contemplate the future. Stills wants to stay with the Sox but now with Carpenter's Tommy John surgery the Cards really need pitching help. Co-incidence? Link: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...rtnerId=rss_mlb We all he would not mind being even closer to home if things ever went south here with the "All In" strategy and his 2012 option would kick in. -
Really excited to hear JFP is right on or ahead of schedule. I really hope he can have a normal career and give us some qulaity pitching but time will tell. I am concerned as we all probably are about his motion and how he can even alter it without it affecting his delivery. I guess we will see.
-
I agree with J4L and the other posters in saying that Mark is worth more to us from a sentimental point of value that actual capabilities right now. I am not saying he does not get it done but his ceiling is now what it is, a good, solid 3/4 pitcher capable of giving you 200 innings with a 4.00 ERA. I used t think the St. Louis area connection would be something we could leverage if we were ever dangling him to the cardinals but not anymore. And TBH he will never be considered in 1 to 1 swap for Rasmus by the Cardinals.

KW calls $30 million for Albert Pujols “asinine"
chisoxfan09 replied to soxsoxsoxsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Even if KW had 30 million to throw around, where do you out Konerko and Dunn?
