Anyone think Ted Lilly is worth a shot?

Yeah, I knew it. But can we make it with Huddie/Freddie as the 4/5 combo?? If the Twins some how sign Lee that is a big concern.

Just throwin this out there and expect to be flamed and labeled retarded but hey what the heck. What about revisiting a Zambrano trade. I KNOW I KNOW the dude is a serious mental midget but maybe a change of scenery would really help him and he coud thrive with OZ. I know the Flubs would have to pay at least 30-35 million of that remaining salary for us to even think about it. And I think it would not cost much in the way of prospects. Dunno just a wild dumb idea on my part. OK Flame away!!!

Forgot about Boras when I posted this. I tend to like if possible a cheap power lefty but there just aren't that may TBH. Laroche is not having a bad year as is Huff. Let's see what happens on this homestand and how many games we are behind. Really depends on how well we do against real AL teams.

Mods, can you change the title in general to something more appropriate, like the Prince Fielder "Catch All" thread?

Link: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/414414-...-prince-fielder Chicago White Sox Targeting Milwaukee's Prince Fielder by Bob Warja Written on July 01, 2010 Sources within the Chicago White Sox organization, on the condition of anonymity, have indicated that GM Kenny Williams is talking to the Milwaukee Brewers about a blockbuster trade that would send powerful first baseman Prince Fielder to the Sox. In exchange, the Sox would send a package of young players. While Williams has not publicly acknowledged interest in Fielder (that would be tampering anyway), he did have this to say to MLB.com's Scott Merkin: "Well, if there's an opportunity to win a World Series, you got to do what you got to do sometimes—within reason," Williams said. "But it's got to be, you have to have a real opportunity. I think we have an opportunity." The Sox clearly see themselves as having a chance to contend in the AL Central all season now, and the aggressive Sox GM is willing to trade the future for a shot at winning right now. It has been widely speculated that the Sox are interested in Adam Dunn, but Fielder would certainly fit the bill very nicely, as the powerful lefty bat they're craving. Fielder has a .260/.385/.481/.866 slash, with 17 homers, and just turned 26 in May. Meanwhile, the Brewers figure to be out of the race this year, and they are privately concerned about Fielder's salary demands and his weight. Fielder's body type isn't ideal for long-term success, but it certainly isn't unprecedented to have a fat ballplayer continue to rake into his 30s. Um, anyone remember a kid that went by the nickname of "Babe"? He makes $11M this year and with a strong finish, will likely receive a hefty increase going forward. But remember, this a guy who hit 50 homers in 2007 and 46 last season. His career OBP is .381, so, like Dunn, he draws walks, but with a few less strikeouts. Fielder averages 131 Ks per 162 games, while Dunn averages 180. He is also about 4.5 years younger. So what kind of package will lure the Brewers into moving Fielder to the Sox? Well, they are reluctant to trade Gordon Beckham, despite his slow start to the season. But that shouldn't be a deal breaker, as the Brewers have a young shortstop in Alcides Escobar and a second base prospect in Brett Lawrie. But they are apparently willing to move prospects such as Jordan Danks, Tyler Flowers, Dan Hudson, or Dayan Viciedo. According to ESPN's Keith Law, Milwaukee has the 26th ranked farm system, so they need the boost that a trade like this could bring. In fact, this deal makes so much sense that it could not possibly happen. Or could it? Where there's smoke, there's fire. This could be all smoke and mirrors and the vast majority of the forum would luv Filder but there are starting to be concerns about his weight problems and what kind of salary he makes next year in final year of arb and beyond. Is he worth a package of Viciedo, Danks2, Hudson, or more?

Heck, we can't even get Ozzie to think out of the box!! He is just fine with the team now, DOH!!!!!!!!

My bad, meant Laroche.

I think KW will bide his time for the moment and see how July develops. But if July rolls around and after the All Star break we are in the hunt (I have to eat a lot of crow for now because of my Doooms Day posts but it is still a long year with 3 + months left) then I really think Larouche could be an interesting candidate. He has good pop and a decent OBP and does not strike out nearly as much as Dunn, who I think is not obtainable.
-
OK fair enough, I didn't look at his minor league stats. He came to mind because of being a young power lefty but as you say he only has these 3 months of decent rookie production. He may flop soon. And the Flubs would probably ask (If they even parted with him) for something ridiculous.

Sox vs Atlanta 6-23 game thread 7:05 first pitch, CSN
chisoxfan09 replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2010 Season in Review
Shall we ask what the Dodgers want for him? ** OH never mind he is a CF and a right handed hitter ** -
I was gonna post and then thought nah this will never fly but what the heck. What about Tyler Colvin from the Flubs? He seems to be adjusting very well to MLB pitching and has power and a good eye. He is not a K machine so far but is an outfielder. Maybe if we could look at him as a potential DH to spot start in the OF and 1st base? I don't think the Flubs would ever consider letting him go as he has 2 ARB years left after this one but you know they are going no where and Jim Hendry gets fleeced quite often. Do we try looking at him? Actually he is a K machine but a .350 OBP.

Sox draft signings and reporting places

Any word on whether Sale will report to AA or higher? They have him in some reports as being MLB ready by September by not likely. -
Chris Sale signs for a bargain; expected in majors this year
chisoxfan09 replied to Eminor3rd's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I agree BH4L, as a similar analogy but strictly opinion JFP has similar mechanics from the right side and he was injury free pretty much his first 5-6 years. Obviously every human body is different but if we can compare a similar pitcher with mechanics (Inverted W) then JFP is similar but right handed. -
Hudson BB count and pitch count up the last two starts. Maybe he is facing the league´s tougher hitting lineups. Still leading the league in WINS. GO SOX!!!

Couldn´t working with Coop help his mechanics? Would he be considered a full time project by the looks of his mechanics??

Yeah TB, I realized that as I typed. Lot of debate on his mechanics from the 3/4 arm slot. If he sitched from 3/4 to full arm slot would that improve or reduce his chance of future injury? -

Sal can be MLB starting rotation material in a year. But one question. Wasn´t Poreda absolutely rated as can´t miss in the draft? He has really bombed after the trade but he only had his FB I guess. Sale has the FB and 2 plus pitches from what I hear. And him working with Coop can´t be bad. -
chw42, I expect with some more luck and feasting on the Flubs next weekend it could even come down below 4.

DMBJeff, I posted the same exact feelings in the Viciedo thread. But the thing that I thought was important to hear was that JR has financial flexibility if we get to a winning percentage where a lefty big bat or similar impact type offensive addition can be considered. They will have to do a hard selling job to JR IMO because of his "We have enough to win" statement. But at least he would approve in theory some financial flexibility under the right circumstances. I know everyone will say it is now but not in JR´s mind, yet.

I think a balanced approach to letting Dayan ease in is much better. As was said in many posts, you ideally want to have one of your 2 highest OBP bats in the lineup at all times. There are plenty of ways to put together a line up with either Viciedo at 3rd, 1st, or DH. That way you can give him 5-6 games exposure out of every 7 games. For example with Teahan hurt his bat may be better and his glove well... Teahan wasn´t exactly going to win a Gold Glove.
-
It is a tough argument to solve. It could go either way I suppose. I am just very leary of having this momentum stop stone cold, which is what this lineup is very capable of doing. Just completely shutting down offensively for a period of 3-4 games or more is far more the norm for this team than any sustained offensive output for over the same period IMO.
