23,000 attendance tonight. That surely won't last into the summer with this play. -

Anybody see and remember Buerhle's electric Opening Day game and play in the rear view mirror? Sigh..................... -

Kinda typical of this and last season, they muster just enough offense to get close once in a while but not over the hump. Really inconsistent. -

Finally a good at bat for Beckham. I remember he used to do this with such ease last year and poof, this year he is a shadow of his rookie year. -

Certainly most of 2008 and definitely last year the team was outright boring with this useless offense. End of May is coming and I can hear the crickets chirping already at the Cell. -

Kinda ironic that Peavy said he would not welcome a rebuilding campagn but he is really sucking wind this year. I wonder if even a new owner would make a difference now. -
But is says explicitly we are one of his suitors. I thought that was enough criteria to post in PaleHose talk. Actually Mods there was an earlier existing Maya thread. Can we merge it with that one?

Link: http://www.elnuevoherald.com/2010/05/18/72...-es-agente.html I won´t do a literal translation of the article but paraphrase its fine points: For Maya it will be routine training but for the MLB scouts on hand it will be a culminating moment for them to ponder the latest Cuban starting pitcher. Maya will throw Live Batting Practice for teams this Thursday in the Dominican Republic and is expected to receive an MLB contract offer. The White Sox and Mets are counted among his suitors. His fastball has been sitting between 92 and 94 MPH and he has thrown batting practice and simulated games (Same thing if you ask me). He was voted as the best Cuban pitcher during his last campaign in the Cuban National Series (Their Regular Season) before defecting in 2008. He has a career record of 48-29 and an career ERA of 2.51. Do we have a need and can we afford him? My guess is that he would start in log relief or AAA. Thoughts

Time for me to shut up, at least for the moment. Don´t let us down BP if Freddie can go 6-7 innings!! -

Can anyone on the board recall from memory approximately how many games we have outhit the opposition by a healthy margin but have lost due to no clutch or timely hitting? I could be off the mark but I think we outhit other teams quite a bit but always find a way to lose. -

We got lucky there but it has been like that since last year. Other teams string together 2-3 runs and then we face their AAA pitcher and can´t do squat. Porcello is not in that boat however. -

We have blown 2 oppportunites with men on base, the first inning was just no excuse whatsoever. -

Yeah we string a couple of hits together almost every game but the same lame result always, NO CLUTCH hitting. I already have a bad feeling about this game, series, and upcoming homestand. And then other games no offense at all. -
Any one think Danks is worth considering if we nose dive and he does not sign an extension? If he has a semi productive year with no run support he could be an Ace on other teams and would fetch a nice bounty.

Hopefully the BlackHawks will give us good news tonight, I am sure we all can use it. Go HAWKS!! Just trying to make it a positive day.

Maybe after this year it is time to finally DFA Jenks, he just doesn´t seem to have it any more. HIs ridiculous @ss theatrics of not nailing it down and either getting some one on or losing it are beyond old. Right now this team has so many holes you just can´t pin it all on Bobby. Don´t know anymore if a good lefty or righty big stick will turn it around. If we get swept in Minny which is highly likely it is getting into real danger zone to do something drastic. We have been screwing around with this losing formula now for almost 2 years. This lineup just can´t hit or compete with any consistancy. But where do you start?
-
True, they are definitely in Win Now mode and a year of Werth fits in with their plans exactly. If he leaves as an FA he will no doubt be Type A so they have good choices. Just thought it might give us an injection of offense this year which it would but yeah I doubt they would listen to offers now that I think about it. It is more often team that are going no where that try to unload their best trading chips.

How about a player like Jayson Werth of Phili, he is mashing and has had very good solid years in 08/09. Excellent OBP, still relatively young at 32 and decent in the OF with a career FP of .986 and career UZR of 2.3. He is righty but at this point does it matter? A half year rental would cost around 5-6 million and with Konerko coming off the books with AJ we could probably afford a 3-4 year deal for him (I see no more than that). He could DH and play all OF spots next year and beyond. Dunno just trying to create some valid scenarios. I think he has more value than Berkman. It looks like the Phillies cannot afford him now.
-
I am really hoping he comes back strong. We need a good corner outfielder with upside. I am not ready to declare CQ a bust but maybe he is a one year fluke.
-
I say if he rakes or does extremely well at BHam we got us a bonafide prospect. But as is well said the kid is only 21. Too early. Maybe by the end of next year.

The BoSox?? WHo would you ask for if it was even concievable? Problem is I think Jake has a limited NTC.

And that's a White Sox winner !!
chisoxfan09 replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Nope, I will take 3 years of a proven winner (Albeit nothing yet in the playoffs) over 4 pitchers that have not proved anything yet.
