I agree Chet with the weight issue. It is much more pronouced with Fielder than what we just went through with jenks. I don't see him making ahuge effort to get in shape. That would have to be a negotitation tactic.

Worse case scenario you may have a 30 year old reliever on the decline after 2011. May or may not be good enough to net Type B status which gets us a supplemental pick I think.

Is it too ridculous at ths point in their careers to compare John Danks to a Johan Santana Lite? They have similar deliveries and Danks' offspeed stuff/breaking ball is really starting to shine as an excellent and potent combo to his fastball. His FB touched 93 on the radar yesterday so I think he can hit 94-95 or is this just me on koolaid? ** Note ** Although IIRC Sanatana has a nasty slider as well.

Yeah no need to rush him just yet. If he has a good first half maybe he can move as he is one of the better young lefty prospects in the system. Thing is TB I don't see when the Appalachian league starts. Or if he needs to repeat it.

Anyone know if David Holmberg will move up to Class A Advanced this year? I looked him up on MILB.COM but they still have him in the Appalachian league.

Well, if we are not able or willing to trade him then the only logical route that could play out is that he is offered ARB one time for next year and walks as a FA after 2011. At least we get B or A type FA comp picks for him depending on what value he is assigned. Still not bad.
