  1. I hate to say it, but maybe he was lefty insurance in case we did not lock up J Danks long term. Next Lefty with any starting potential is Leesman in AA. He should be ready in 2012. Backend though (4/5).
  2. Can Sale be starter material in a year or two?
  3. The Braves, according to MLBTR are on the verge of trading for Derrick Lee from the Cubs so I wonder if they are considering Laroche to be the same type of pick up. Lee also cleared waivers.
  4. It would make better sense to go after Laroche as he is left handed but I understand the desire for Manny who thrives on the big stage. But Laroche will cost next to nothing and does not have any club house issues.
  5. Adam Laroche just cleared waivers, what are we waiting for? Link: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/08/adam...rs-waivers.html
  6. Charlotte game - Jordan Danks playing 2nd base?? WTF???
  7. Kewl, I've liked him since he was drafted. But he does not seem to have power but can hit for average. He struggled for a while when he got promoted but has made the transition well. I would rather see him next year than Teahan to be honest at the Cell.
  8. Can't wait for Ozzie's typical post game comments or tomorrow sayin he is happy with this lineup. You know he will.
  9. 9-1 against the Mariners and about 55-49 against the rest of the league but pathetic against Cleve, bad against KC, and Balt, well... And the twinkies are starting to own us too.
  10. But we also wet the bed against Cleveland and Balt. YOu just gotta, I mean just gotta win those games. No excuse.
  11. Maybe we are just runnin out of gas from that great run we had.
  12. JPN, did you ever do an AAP write up on Brent Morel while at Birmingham? Kid is sure scrappy and although he is 0-4 tonite he is above .300 and playing good solid D. Do you see a lot of upside and him cracking any top 100 prospect list next year (Especially after hitting well in AAA)? All this with a bad shoulder.
  13. Real, I am not going to flame ya at all man. The Twinkies just play better baseball with RISP and it is the same damn tired excuse we have whined about now for 2 years. When our bats can't hit a lick you can hear the crickets chirp, just that simple. And they don't even have Morneau back yet and are really taking it to us. They are pretty much set offensively from top to bottom. When we had the chance to build a cushion against bottom dwellers (Specifically early in the season when Cleveland owned us and that terrible series against the O's) we failed and Jenks really blew some crucial leads on that last roadtrip. And yeah another thing that people mention and is a huge factor is the fact that Ozzie constantly gets outmanaged in game situations because he is so hard headed. Prognosis: While we may have a better overall starting rotation and pen I don't us winning the division with this offense and our constant failures with RISP or even nights when we just can't hit a lick. I haven't even mentioned this DH disaster this season has been. Our wildcard chances are practically 0 because of the AL East. Wish I could be more optimistic.
  14. Way to bounce back, all around good game. JDanks CQ
  15. This. I see a recurring pattern where the bats just disappear and this is really the same rehashed theme we have seen from 2009. I am not sure how many close games have been lost due to not capatilizing on RISP but it has surely affect Floyd's, Buerhle's, Danks', and Garcia's excellent outings on many occasions (Apart from blown saves). EJax last night was the victim of another anemic and pi** poor offensive showing. If we could get manny for the stretch run I would really like to see the Sox take a chance. But with Ozzie's bone headed line up decisions who knows how much playing time he would get, let alone the chemistry issues he might bring to the clubhouse. I say it is worth a gamble if it is possible.
  16. Caulfield, OT. What time is it in Shanghai? It is almost 8 AM here in Europe (Central time). I wold imagine you are 6/7 hours ahead of me which would make it about 2 or 3 PM.
  17. You are probably right. He is owed quite a bit of money and there is a chance his production is now going to suffer but time will tell. And adding to what you and Caulfield have said it will be a minefield to get to to even have the chance to look at Beltran (That is even if the Mets put him on waivers).
  18. OK, gotcha. You would not see any potential value in Beltran if he went unclaimed until it was our turn? Especially if the Mets pick up salary? I assume they won´t at all but just sayin...
  19. Anyone think the Mets would put Carlos Beltran on waivers? His power numbers dipped last year and he is coming off major knee surgery. If he made it to us in the scenario would he be worth the taking if the Mets pay some salary? I would see him as a salary dump as he is a FA after next year? When healthy he does pose a nice threat from the left side but he is owed 18 million next year, ouch!! OK flame away.
  20. Man, he is getting hammered. he is hanging a lot of off speed stuff. Doesn't look like he has anything tonight. Hope I am wrong, dead wrong.
  21. TB, what about trying to lock up Dunn long term (if we land him - big if) with the Konerko money coming off the books? Would 3/39 do it?
  22. Can you imagine our record if both Danksie and Floyd had gotten better run support this year? Danks would be like 13/14-5 and Floyd I dunno maybe 10-6.
