  1. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 18, 2015 -> 08:33 AM) It's incredible how ready the media is to love the Cubs. Everyone saw it coming but my god is it jarring while it happens. I googled Javy Baez after the Twitter rumors and saw all these "Baez is back" "Baez has adjusted" "Baez putting it together?" type articles. He's having a decent amount of success but he's had 72 PA's. Plus, the 72 PA's come with a .400+ BABIP in the PCL. Baseball people are getting so used to the Cubs hitting prospects being world beaters across the board so they're just trying to be ahead of the curve with Baez. His K/BB numbers have improved a lot but he's only had a SSS in his second year in the PCL. Dayan Viciedo had a .300/.350/.480 type line this time last year in the MLB. LJ Hoes is doing this in the PCL in more PAs .333/.424/.500/.924. The Cubs Craze is in full swing right now. The stats community loves Theo and the Cubs but doesn't mention the following: Bryant - 30% K%, .417 BABIP Soler - 33% K%, .419 BABIP Russell 37.4% K%, .380 BABIP When thinking about their next prospect coming up, as a Sox fan who would prefer the Cubs to lose, I am much more worried about Schwarber. What a killer that guy is. Bryant-Rizzo-Schwarber-Soler is quite a young middle of the lineup looking at next year. Yikes. The thing that bothers me most is that these hitters get to come up in the NL, and even worse, the NL Central. A place where pitchers throw soft junk, straight 92 from RH starters and where most #3 starters barely crack AL rotations. It's set up perfectly for them. It sucks.
  2. QUOTE (SCCWS @ May 18, 2015 -> 08:28 AM) We are 4 games ahead of them. If they sweep us, would that pretty much end our season???? ?????? No, we wouldn't be 12 games under .500, we'd be 4. What a comment, thanks, may God have mercy on your soul.
  3. You know we could pretty much end Cleveland's season with a 4 game sweep. Wouldn't that be tasty.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ May 17, 2015 -> 06:48 PM) I'm so thrilled we went on a streak, but can't help but be bummed that after 2.5 weeks of really good baseball we are only at .500. I really want this to keep going so that .500 isn't the ghost we are chasing all season after a terrible start. Yea man, chasing that .500 ghost would feel all too familiar from the last decade or so. The difference this year is all the drink stirring. Clubhouse seems real tight- these boys gonna blast right through .500.
  5. J4L I feel like I haven't seen a post from you in years and you come at us with this?! LOL bro we all know that the cubs are coming fast, hence all the pistols cocked and stuffed in our mouths.
  6. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 17, 2015 -> 02:46 PM) Robin has been a different manager during this road trip. I'm not saying we all should love him now, but yesterday night holding the short leash on the BP won us a game. This series was a thing of beauty on his end. 99% of it is guys playing good baseball.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2015 -> 06:06 PM) Honestly, I got more out of Rowand this series then I have out of Steve Stone the entire time he has been here. Rowand's insights into pitch sequences, mechanics and the mental approaches were more depth than I have heard out of that booth since Jack McDowell sat in last year. Well said. I have mlb.tv so I watch a lot of other broadcasts when the Sox aren't on. These were by far the best 3 games i've heard announced by far, no homer talking either. The insight these two had was incredible with respect to approach at the plate. When you watch other teams' guys you always get the announcer voice blabbing out stats. Stats? Really? Stats? Playoffs? Practice? Stats? Lol we can all read the stats on the screen chip carey. Thanks bub. Len kasper, thanks for not talking about anything baseball related etc.
  8. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 17, 2015 -> 03:44 PM) Keep maing him throw pitches, either one of these jams he gets into burns him or the Sox get into Oakland's nightmarish bullpen early. ^^ this. No need to be upset. This is going well. Cmon shark!
  9. I trust the mods have whipped the nervous posters for their impatience.
  10. Wow can Stone take another week off? These two gel. Great insight by Rowand. You can tell he comes from the same school of thought as Hawk- like discussing the human aspect, not the boring statistical aspect. I'm glad they put the mic closer to Rowand tonight too, night & day
  11. On a side note...so are we going to give the indians quad lefties? Edit. Which is awesome cuz it seems like their whole team is lefty. Go Sox!
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 16, 2015 -> 11:25 PM) 4 games in a row. 4 series in a row. Hope Shark wants to show his old team up tomorrow for trading him. Keep this s*** up! Amen bro. Time to step up Shark and roll the rotation over to the studs. Big streak possible!
  13. But then you watch Sanchez play late inning D tonight and go "Damn!!!". Dude belongs.
  14. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 16, 2015 -> 06:10 PM) This is where I'm jealous of the Sox fans who live outside Chicago. The hype is going crazy right now, to the point where I couldn't ignore the Cubs even when I want to. I live in Texas and it still makes me want to puke. If i lived in Chicago I'd for sure have a pistol in my mouth ?
  15. 16-13 since the 0-4 start. Unvelievable considering the horrible everything. This team might be real damn good.
  16. Phew! Were there any strike 1s in that whole mess of s***?
  17. RV doing a good job, putting all the right pitchers in, they just running into some bad shank hits. Vogt hot that nicely though.
  18. Danks looks pretty good tonight. Bad pitch to Butler but he's locating and his change looks nasty. Chavez looked wild. Hang in there
  19. And especially in the 1st inning before you've gauged tha pitcher. Your only job the first AB is to see everything the pitcher has. Now his 2nd AB has to be wasted doing that. That's amateur.
  20. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 16, 2015 -> 08:11 PM) Melky has been a disappointment to me While I think he's going to end up being a good hitter for us, I can't for the life of me wrap my head around why he doesn't take AT LEAST 2 pitches before he swings. Why isn't that being demanded? How does a 1 pitch AB help the ball-club
  21. Didn't coop f*** that up?
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 15, 2015 -> 01:20 PM) Sox record is 3½ games better than Oakland, but Sox have a -35 run differential and Oakland has +1. Oakland's team OPS is 30 points better than the Sox (while playing in a very hitter-unfriendly home stadium), Oakland's starter ERA is 1.34 points better than the Sox. Only edge Sox have is a 1.32 point edge in reliever ERA. Interesting stats to date. Sox also have way better players who are starting to heat up.
  23. K'ing the f*** outa Semien 3 times would not be the worst thing I ever saw...no sir.
  24. Hold up another side to all of this is kinda cool. We can't keep both of them on 2B for the next 6 yrs. Maybe the plan is to trade one of them for some 2nd half help. Maybe Sanchez is really our boy and Micah was a showcase.
  25. Part of me has always thought Sanchez is a superstar waiting to happen. Always been so young and had amazing success at all levels. Dude can rack up the hits
