  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 11:54 AM) So you think Peavy can be an ace again this year? ace along the lines of verlander, felix, weaver? not a chance in hell
  2. I know you guys don't want to hear this but Juan isn't going anywhere and Dayan will not be replacing him anytime soon.
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 02:35 PM) What the f***, man. This guy has been on the Sox for about two full seasons at this point. It seems like he's pitched about 10 games for us. Why does anyone defend him anymore? What will it take to piss people off? He will come back in 15 days or a month or whatever and people will get all excited about it again and claim that he is still Cy Young. He will pitch a good game and the talk will be how great he is for the team. Then he will get hurt after a few starts and people will be pissed and say they are done with him, until he returns again of course. Its an endless cycle.
  4. whoever charts these pitches on gamecast must be blind
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) That was a nice example of Mr Big RBI, multimillionaire Adam Dunn not coming through with a big hit in the inning. His handful of walks this year have not led to many big innings. At some point he needs to knock in some runs. the thing that really sucks is that if we ever got into contention or the playoffs and he were up at the end of the game, all it would take is the opposition to bring in a lefty and we would be hopeless
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) I don't think Humber is a fluke, to be honest. If he is, so what? At this point, the Sox need to keep throwing the guys out there that help them win or give them the best chance to win, even if it means sending $8M to the bullpen (Jackson) or having your $12.5M CF on the bench (Rios). I don't either and I have never been a fan of Rios.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) Lillibridge has been killing the baseball, and it's gone on far too long for it to be just a mirage. Oz needs to keep him in the lineup. Letting Rios play and trying to get him out of his slump is hurting the team too much especially when Lillibridge can mash. I am not disagreeing with you at all but why is it that so many people are behind Brent but dismiss Humber as being a fluke?
  8. All I know is the sox just tied it up and on game cast during the break they showed Pheobe Cates getting out of the pool in Fast Times. That was a great last 5 minutes.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 25, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) What the hell is going on? ESPN Gamecast is making it look like Rios ended the game. yeah what the hell happened? gamecast sucked did rios swing at a 2-0 pitch and omar get doubled up on a popup?
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 25, 2011 -> 03:27 PM) Ozzie either (1) didn't think Washington would bring in Oliver to face Dunn or (2) figured Dunn, at 0 for 31, was due. Either way, he's pretty stupid. amazingly i think that (1) is even more stupid than (2)
  11. Does anyone believe that Ozzie really had confidence in Dunn to drive in the run there? How could he?
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 16, 2011 -> 05:08 AM) The four biggest bones I have to pick with KW are: 3) Blown draft picks on pitchers: Honel, K. McCulloch, Royce Ring, Lance Broadway, Aaron Poreda, Matt Long (2nd round), Ray Liotta, Jason Stumm, Sean Tracey, Tyler Lumsden, Matt Ginter, etc. This is #1 for me. I would also add to your list the heavy reliance on veteran players who are past their prime and KW trying to find the fountain of youth with these guys. I hate when he bring back old guys who are no longer productive.
  13. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 12, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) Whether or not we agree, Ozzie will likely not start anyone at leadoff who is not a base stealer. I think you are right about this. If Juan sucks, we really don't have the protype leadoff man. I don't buy into the stereotype that a leadoff man has to have great speed. I think we should do something abnormal and not really be concerned with who is leading off the game. Bench Juan, put Dayan out there and have an unconventional leadoff man. It could be Dunn or Carlos for all I care, just someone who gets on base.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2011 -> 02:47 PM) Perfect, I've been suggesting that for two weeks. Which is almost exactly the lineup that was planned for next season this past spring, just switching beckham and ramirez. Now gordon's struggles may have changed that...
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:43 PM) That's how I feel with Rios and gulp...Peavy and AJ
  16. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) Our ERA as a team in May is 2.57. Teams pitching like this should be on a massive run. thats 2.00 too high for our offense
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) If he can be a #3 starter next year, I'll be happy with that. Days of him being an ace are long gone, and were before the injury in my opinion. 100% agree. If he could be a #3 and throw 200 innings I would be ecstatic.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 11, 2011 -> 04:42 PM) Docsox24, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this message board is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. The point being Mr. Madison is that while both guys have impressive resumes, neither one is still a dominant player. If you think Jake is still going to be an ace you are going to be severely disappointed. I would say his upside is more in the lines of Gavin Floyd.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 11, 2011 -> 12:57 PM) Fox cancels crime drama ‘The Chicago Code’ sucks, i really liked that show and it was starting to get very suspenseful
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:34 AM) 1,459 ks in 1,469.2 IP with a 1.19 WHIP, 3.32 ERA and a .231 batting average doesn't spell ace to you? Jesus Christ. If he can ever be healthy again for a given period, Jake will show that he indeed is an ace. That's a big if, of course. However, his resume is acetastic in my book. Gale Sayers put up some great stats, doesn't mean I want him starting for the Bears next season.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2011 -> 09:06 AM) They also didn't have Jake Peavy coming back. At this point I have far more confidence in Humber than Peavy
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2011 -> 08:01 AM) First you have to have a full 40 man roster to put someone on to the 60 day DL. I also think when you come to the Rule 5 draft you have to have everyone on the regular roster, that way you can't cheat and hide a couple of guys on the 60 day in order to keep a couple more prospects protected, though i can't find anything that clarifies that either way. correct you cant have guys on the 60 during the rule 5
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 08:25 PM) So they're just going to eat $6 million for AJ's contract next year? I guess it only "averages" $4 million per season, but we can't afford to go into a rebuilding period eating contract after contract. we sure are eating a lot of contracts
