If Kopech does this, Gio repeats or has similar numbers to last year with what Keuchel can do and having Cease take the next step this rotation will be pretty Nasty regardless of who the 5th guy is.
I think 86-88 wins is a good benchmark for this team. I look at last year at the ASB we were 40-42 and then went like on a 4-18 stretch out of the break to tank the second half and still came out with 72 Ws. This lineup is much improved over last years club the rotation had a gaping hole in the 4/5 spot and the entire AL Central has gotten worse. Call me optimistic but I think that 86 is a floor 90-92 in the ceiling.
I second this. I’ve seen enough of Covey in my lifetime on the Whitesox, cut bait and be done with him. If he somehow puts it all together on another team well I’ll be damned and tip my cap, highly doubt it though, he was BRUTAL
Remaining offseason. Since Castellanos is more than likely off the board, I would not mind bringing in puig to platoon with Mazara and yolmer back on a team friendly deal to start for a few weeks till Madrigal comes up he can be our super utility infielder. Trade Collins for some relief pitching, bring back Daniel Hudson and finish up the offseason with a Robert extension.
If this ends up happening it’s exciting for the simple fact that you can pencil him into the DH spot and is a legitimate threat to go deep at any point. The first true DH we have had with power like that since the Adam Dunn experiment with no huge commitment to him moving forward.
This. I complained all damn season about not getting Machado but if you can get EE and add one of Castellanos, Puig or Ozuna it makes not getting Machado a blessing in disguise with what they have accomplished this offseason.
