This would not be a surprise. It’s mid July 2024 when a reporter points this out in a sit down with TLR and he then says well you must know the rules better than me.

Call who out though? At some point you have to sign someone to be apart of your core moving forward and all they are doing are signing veterans to 1 year deals who won’t be on the team in 2025 when you see some of the younger kids start to come up at the earliest? I just don’t get it

But he plays defense…..

Doesn’t do much good if you can’t score some runs. Losing 3-1 or 4-2 every day with a bunch of guys who can’t hit will make for a long year

There is your 2024 opening day RF ??

Sox gonna try the ol 10 man rotation coming out of spring training apparently

I get it he’s a paper pusher but damn how many Kansas City Royals is this team going to hire. Absolutely ridiculous to continue to bring in people from that s%*# organization

One less option for Cease

Gonna love a future rotation of Soroka Fedde Scholtens Touki Flexen

Merry Christmas everyone! For anyone on the road listening to Westwood One Jason Benetti is calling the Chiefs / Raiders game on the radio.

We’re fortunate to play in the AL Central…what a crock of s%*# and a loser mentality. So damn tired of hearing this quote from this organization over and over again. Yet, they will still find themselves at the very bottom of the worst division in baseball.

Easy to say that now after the fact when the majority of his personnel decisions flamed out and he is the one guy within the s%*# show organization to not only stay but get a promotion.

Well hopefully there is more people out there like that than not. Problem is I don’t know if the Astros had enough juice in their farm system to make that acquisition. It seems like Baltimore is the ideal fit for a trade but their GM either is a prospect hugger or doesn’t view Cease as that type of guy at this point.

Paul Janish

Player development dude from college. Can’t remember his name at the moment

Until you can spend 100 mil on a player in the 3rd largest market in the country you can’t cry poor in my eyes. If you can’t do that in today’s game you need to get the hell out of it. Yes they spent a bunch of money on mid level players, so while they spent money they did so poorly but only because JR refuses to allocate the money to the proper star player I.e. Machado or Harper. Those contracts now just a few years later look like a bargain comparatively speaking. I don’t have the article or link to it but JR or reporters have said that the Sox spending is not solely a Reinsdorf decision. JR whether using his business partners as a crutch or it’s a real thing has always looked out for their bottom line. Not saying they should spend year after year like those teams but anyone defending the unwillingness to land a big fish is just crazy at this point.

Sox viewpoint on him is he wasn’t a DH or 1B playing in the outfield so it was a win in their books. Also played for Grifol so there’s that

You think a team will end up caving to Getz demands? My worry is teams view Cease projections more off his last year performance and his runner up in the Cy Young season as more of an anomaly than looking at it as what he can bring to the table year in and year out

You really truly believe that lol? The Sox went out of their way to say TLR was out of the picture only for their new hire to contradict that statement a few weeks later. TLR will always have the ear of the chairman and when push comes to shove TLR still pulls the strings.

But we’ve been saying Jerry knows his time is running out and we continue to get him not wanting to spend on the same level as the rest of the league. Jerry isn’t the only one in the ownership group unfortunately and it’s been reported before he just can’t or won’t just throw his own money at the problem. The other “owners” have say in this as well unfortunately.

I truly believe JR and TLR think they can win with these type of players though and that is the most concerning part of it. They are so out of touch with reality and neither of them should have their hands on a baseball organization at this point in time in their lives

Benintendi was signed to play everyday LF. They clearly stated that when he signed which made Eloy a future “RF” or DH. Benintendi has a noodle arm that cannot and should not ever be placed in RF.
