  1. I believe that all of this Teahen love right now is being generated by KW to develop a buzz so some team will take him off of our hands. We need D, I want Morel. Yes, Morel can hit enough and he will be Ozzie 9th place hitter and Vizquel will play 2 games a week.
  2. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 07:25 AM) Am I the only one who turned it on at 9CST, and it was half over? I was real confused. It said it was on from 9-10. It ended at 9:35. I did the same thing, but thought it was mostly fluff as well. I need to see the first 25 minutes.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 06:51 PM) 2012--the Sox have 12 players signed right now for 93.5 million. They better win this year. Wow, and that does not include three of the starting pitchers on this year's roster, Buehrle, Jackson, and Danks.
  4. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) So they will just cut him outright and eat the contract? I don't see that happening, unfortunately. Would be nice if they did it though and didn't worry about the payroll ramifications... Or, no one claims him off waivers and he sits in Charlotte all summer until he gets humbled and accepts some buy out. I'm not really sure, just my gut that there is no way he breaks with the team.
  5. Teahen is definitely not with the Sox on Opening Day...........KW will have to eat most of that contract. He's gone, I think he was gone even before today's developments.
  6. Great thread, some interesting names on the list. There are some people/publications super high on Addison Reed.
  7. This is a nice problem to have, we could have picked 5, I went with Danks.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2011 -> 07:16 PM) [/b] Nothing personal, but, good. These should be weekday games. We know they are selling out, so why take up prime dates? Stick them on days when we don't sell out. Hell I wish they were weekday games in April, so we could get an extra 30,000 people in those crappy days versus summer weekend dates which would have 30k at them anyway. Agreed, have thought that for a long time, we don't need the Cubs to sell out a weekend series in June. We need 30,000 fans at games during the week.
  9. Scot Gregor on White Sox Weekly on the Score was pretty sure and made a solid prediction that Teahen is not with the team on opening day.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 09:42 AM) Well...the Sox sorta have a DH this year. Good point, it just made me laugh going back to the trade deadline threads from last year.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 08:06 AM) So does this move mean that Luke Scott moves out of the DH spot and back to the OF? Oh no, you brought up the name Luke Scott, now we are going to have 33 threads if the Sox should acquire him................. I have always hated the O's because of 1983, but they have suffered enough and it would be nice to see them challenge the big 2 in the AL East.
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 12:21 AM) He's either extended or traded at the end of the this year. Totally agree, KW and JR will not play this arbitration game each year.
  13. What is the scouting report on his D? Can he back up Rios in CF?
  14. With all of the criticism KW has received for not grooming homegrown prospects, do we consider Alexi to be a homegrown shortstop that is a full product of our system?
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 08:13 AM) Harrell and Cofield don't belong on the list at all, and I think Rienzo and Flowers should be higher than they are. Otherwise looks about right. Agree on Harrell, was shocked he was even in the top 20.
  16. I'll always take improvement, but I'm not upset at all if it is DeAza or Lillibridge. Good speed off bench.
  17. Royals, Braves, Rays, Blue Jays, Yankees...... However, the book must have gone to print before the Garza trade for the Rays so that might have shifted the Rays up.
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 30, 2011 -> 06:58 AM) Yeah, I fixed that on the lists. Thanks, sorry about my typos, tried to get the list typed in there too quickly.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 08:26 PM) No surprises here. System pretty much sucks. No legitimate SP prospects other than Sale, and even that's in question. Mitchell, who was already raw to begin with, is now going to have to overcome a year of rust. Danks and Flowers are mere afterthoughts now. I'm not at all sold on Escobar and his career .668 OPS. No defense in the world can overcome such a horrific bat. Who were the 3 teams ranked below the Sox? I'm certain the Astros and Brewers were. Are the Cardinals the other team? A's, Marlins, Brewers are beneath the Sox.
  20. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 07:16 PM) Short at 8 seems like a major reach to me. Harrell ahead of Flowers? Yikes. Also pretty disappointed that Bellamy dropped so far, though I was pretty disappointed in his performance last year. Surprised about Bellamy as well " Be he lost his strike zone when he got to Birmingham, and his issues were both mechanical and mental."
  21. Dexter Carter and Aaron Poreda have fallen off the Padres Top 30 list. Daniel Cortes is the Mariners 10th best prospect (we traded him to KC) De Los Santos is 13th on the Oakland List David Holmberg is 26th on the Diamondbacks list.
  22. 1. Chris Sale 2. Brent Morel 3. Dayan Viciedo 4. Jared Mitchell 5. Eduardo Escobar 6. Gregori Infante 7. Jacob Petrika 8. Brandon Short 9. Trace Thompson 10. Anthony Carter 11.. Charlie Leesman 12. Santos Rodriguez 13. Addison Reed 14. Mike Blanke 15. Lucas Harrell 16. Thomas Royse 17. Tyler Flowers 18. Jordan Danks 19. Andy Wilkins 20. Tyler Saldino 21. Nate Jones 22. Jhonny Nunez 23. Kyle Cofield 24. Miguel Gonzalez 25. Andre Rienzo 26. Josh Phegly 27. Matt Heidenreich 28. Jon Gilmore 29. Cameron Bayne 39. Spencer Arroyo 31. Kyle Bellamy Overall, it ranks the Sox system 27th. Thoughts?
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 09:49 AM) No, that was in game 1 in Chicago. He hit it in the Game 1 rout, just to make that rout even funnier. Game 1 of the that playoff series was great, not to get off topic with the thread, but the Iguchi throw to third was a classic as well.
  24. MLB Network has Sale as the 25th best prospect in the game during a prospect show tonight. Just an FYI if anyone had seen it. Mike Trout was #1.
  25. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 09:12 AM) I like it. Just don't dick him around. We've seen guys like Andrew Bailey and Neftali Feliz handle the roll quite well their initial years. Sale's frame and delivery will always scare me. But whatever. He's got the stuff. I'd much rather leave Thorton in the role he's flourished in for the last five years. Also agree, need to have a defined role for rookies and the thought of potential starter, mid reliever, and closer only messes with his head.
