QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 11:39 AM) Did they win the first half? Nope. And actually after reading the playoff procedures, the Dash would have to catch Myrtle Beach to make the playoffs and they are five games out. So I guess they are in the hunt?

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 01:51 PM) Finally. And a good inning to start. It's been an encouraging week for the future (short, medium and long term) of Sox pitching, from Noesi down to Guerrero. Lopez another AFL candidate? I think Lopez is a no-brainer for the AFL. He should be ready for the level, he's age appropriate, and he needs more innings.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 12:27 PM) http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/white-...n-elite-pitcher It concerns me that the focus of this article is Rodon's changeup, which he admitted he "rarely used," but at the end it still stresses he has "better than average" chance of reaching the majors this year. Considering Boras wasn't willing to cut a deal that includes a September call-up and instead wrung the White Sox for every cent they had AND he has to improve a secondary offer he admits himself he barely throws....can we pump the breaks on his promotions?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 12:58 PM) Please keep Buddy Bell at least 100 yards away from Rodon. The only ones who should be allowed to speak to him are Hahn, Cooper, JR Perdew and Nick Capra. Half joking. Yes Ventura shouldn't even be allowed to pull him. RODON ONLY GETS PULLED BY RODON

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 10:37 AM) The Dash are the team looking at the playoff run right? They are five games back in the Southern division of the Carolina League with a losing record of 24-26. Not sure what the playoff format is, maybe top two teams from each division? Anyway, the 3rd place team is only a half game back and the 4th place team is 1.5.

Michalczewski promoted to the Dash....do not love this move considering his struggle with strikeouts and his age.

FutureSox Top 25 Prospects List - Midseason
royoung replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 09:03 AM) His glove alone is going to get him to AAA and major league call ups. His bat will hold him back from being a starter or not, and that's only if he's putting up sub .600 OPS's. He has to hit like a pitcher to not make appearances in the majors. I know he makes excellent defense plays, but he has 24 errors so far this season. If Alexei had 24 errors in Chicago we would be crucifying him. You guys are making me feel real s***ty playing devil's advocate on this guy because I really do like his tools, but I am just pointing out he's very raw. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 04:37 PM) I think his floor is Brendan Ryan. His floor is not being able to hit his way out of A+, which is a real possibility since in 77 games in Kannapolis he posted a .233/.295/.262 line. His numbers thus far in Winston-Salem are very encouraging, but he has a long way to go with the bat to become a useful major leaguer like Ryan. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 03:45 PM) Perhaps that says something about the current state of the Sox minor leagues right now. A couple years ago I would agreed with you. But I think we have our deepest system in years now and Rondon is a long, long way from hitting enough to enough justify even a ULT spot. Please note I am not a Rondon hater, personally I would rank him in the 15-20 range, but I think top ten is a bit much. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 03:37 PM) Not sure if anyone else will, but I have no problem posting my top 30 for others to see and rip apart. 1. Carlos Rodon 2. Tim Anderson 3. Courtney Hawkins 4. Spencer Adams 5. Micah Johnson 6. Francellis Montas 7. Tyler Danish 8. Cleuluis Rondon 9. Rangel Ravelo 10. Matt Davidson 11. Carlos Sanchez 12. Trey Michalzewski 13. Chris Beck 14. Kevan Smith 15. Jace Fry 16. Jacob May 17. Andy Wilkins 18. Micker Adolfo 19. Adam Engel 20. Brett Austin 21. Trayce Thompson 22. James Dykstra 23. Jordan Guerrero 24. Tyler Saladino 25. Scott Snodgress 26. Jefferson Olacio 27. Andrew Mitchell 28. Jason Coats 29. Keon Barnum 30. Mike Recchia Props to you Wite this is a solid list. I just think you are crazy for making Rondon a top ten prospect when his ceiling is Brendan Ryan. -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 02:14 PM) His FB has consistently been 92-96 I think. 80 slider. He's the goods. But we knew that already. A big thank you to the Astros and Marlins. I heard they are forcing him to work on his change-up a lot more, which makes sense considering I am sure he could dominate collegiate bats with a FB-SL combo.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 02:05 PM) As suggested, I don't believe Sanchez got himself into the best shape last year either. I'm making assumptions here, but my gut says that he took for granted his success and didn't work as hard heading into last season. Having seen AAA pitching previously and working a bit harder, you see the results you do. I heard that rumor as well, but there is no reason why a kid who just turned 21 should be in AAA after 30 games in AA unless their name is Mike Trout. I understand the Sox believe in rewarding their prospects with promotions, but hot streaks happen that simply aren't sustainable and then pushing them until they fail doesn't make a lot of sense to me personally. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 01:11 PM) The two players will be on base at around the same rate, from what I have seen. I think that is a wash. The differences are defense, which can be taught, and speed, which can't. If defense isn't such a huge factor why is Rondon on this list when he is a .224/.307/.291 career hitter? I'm being a smart ass of course, but I tend to agree there isn't that much difference between Johnson and Sanchez and actually personally value Sanchez more. Sanchez has been across the board better than Johnson this year in Charlotte. Comparing their 2014 in Charlotte Sanchez: .302/.358/.423, 16 of 19 on SB's Johnson: .291/.335/.388, 20 of 32 of SB's (counting Birmingham SB/CS #'s as well) This is a relatively small sample size, but I think people are unfairly judging Sanchez off his awful 2013 which was completely the Sox fault in rushing him up to Charlotte at age 21. -
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 12:28 PM) Rodon. 4IP 4 hits 1 ER 1BB 4K Mess up on the box score I think... He went 3 innings, 3 K's, 2 hits, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts and didn't allow a run.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 01:53 PM) I think we are collectively drinking the Kool-Aid and buying into his high upside. He's 17 and already hitting for really good power. Yeah I understand the hype and tools. He would just be more in the 20-25 range for me until he actually starting putting up decent numbers due to his unknown levels of competition/baseball experience. -

I was surprised to see Adolfo nearly cracking the top ten after just starting his professional career -
Shows again that the Tigers really know their prospects. Hopefully Avisail Garcia proves the exception

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 09:04 AM) It sure would be interesting if Rick Hahn -- very quietly, modestly and without benefit of total tank job -- has done on the pitching side of the ledger what the ballyhooed boys on the North Side supposedly have done with position prospects. A 2016 rotation of Sale, Rodon, Quintana, Danish, and Montas would be nice. Martinez and Adams are likely 2017 or 2018, if they are all make it of course.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 08:57 PM) This was tweeted earlier: FutureSox.com @FutureSox 5h Luis Martinez is making his @gfvoyagers debut tonight after 40 SO/16 BB in 33 IP in AZL. He signed for $250k in 2012. One to watch #WhiteSox He has a shutout so far.... Love it. That's why you dip into the international market. Kid is looking very promising.
