Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
It is obviously easier for me (FutureSox duh) to be excited about this rebuild than most. But I used to watch a ton of major league games in previous years, but I realized somewhere through the 2016 season I barely tuned in at all. It wasn't that they were just awful (they were), it was seeing studs like Sale, Q, Eaton, Abreu, etc flounder out there. If the White Sox could not build a competent supporting cast around these players, why have them? Our personal enjoyment? This is a prudent decision in a lot of ways and though it is a risky plan they are embarking on, it is exorbitantly less so than the failing status quo.

White Sox Big Board, org-wide
I bet that Yency Almonte for Kahnle trade last off-season is one Hahn wishes he had back.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 04:24 PM) If they're not trading Meadows then they HAVE to move McCutchen right? Because otherwise there simply isn't anywhere for Meadows to play this year, and whatever they do with Mccutchen fundamentally changes the names we could put on the list. Honestly I think McCutchen's trade market is holding this whole deal up.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 04:23 PM) If we can't have Meadows, then I want both Keller and Newman as well as Glasnow. If they're content on keeping Bell, then I would want Hayes and another. I think that is likely what Hahn and Huntington are haggling about. I would be ecstatic if Sox acquired Bell, but he is major league ready and will really help their 2017 club.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
The fact that the Pirates have been trying to trade Cutch should tell you Meadows isn't going anywhere. They absolutely love him. The reason they are attractive trade partners is because they can put together a really strong package without him. Glasnow and Bell are top 20 prospects and they have Newman (#42) and Keller (#72) as well. I would absolutely love a deal with Glasnow/Bell as the centerpieces + maybe Keller or some other high upside guys. Sox are not likely getting three top 50 prospects, that would be more than what Sale got.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
Honestly I think Pirates make the most sense in a lot of ways. He would eat the NL alive, he fits within Pittsburgh payroll and makes them competitive during the length of his contract, and they some great stud prospects for the White Sox to target.

The "other" prospects in the Sale deal - Basabe & Diaz
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 02:39 PM) Our Luis Basabe correct? Not his twin brother Luis Basabe? haha "Our" Luis Alexander Basabe is the much better prospect than his brother. I heard Jim Callis tell a story that when the Diamondbacks traded Ziegler to the Red Sox last year, they accidentally asked for Alejandro when they actually wanted Alexander. Normally I'd say thats unbelievable, but this is Dave Stewart we are talking about...

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
Honestly, I bet Yankees are as surprised as all of us about Nightengale's tweets. I wonder if GM's ever get pissed when that happens or just chalk it up as part of the biz?

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 08:47 AM) This is a head scratcher for me. Why are the Yankees interested in Robertson? They are in a semi rebuild and were applauded by the entire industry with the influx of young talent they have brought to their organization. I find it hard to believe Cashman wants to get rid of his young talented hitters: Torres, Rutherford, and Frazier. The only conclusion I can come up with is Steinbrenner pressuring Cashman to make a big acquisition for 2017 season. Or Sox leaked this intentionally to Nightengale to scare Pittsburgh, Houston, Washington, whoever into dealing for Q. Its smart, they are simultaneously stimulating both the Q and Robertson markets by packaging them to the team with the best farm system.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 08:42 AM) if we give the best starter, closer available + money, isnt that worth torres+frazier +more? Yes. Should be bigger return than the Sale deal. Frazier, Torres, and Rutherford minimum IMO.

Giolito
I posted my analysis of Giolito on FutureSox when the trade broke. Funny to call him a change of scenery candidate because of all his success, but I think this is the case here. Nationals were clearly down on him and whatever they did to change his mechanics was not working. I think when 2017 prospect rankings come out he will tumble, but Sox still have a potential ace if they get him rolling again. http://www.chicagonow.com/future-sox/2016/...e-to-nationals/

The "other" prospects in the Sale deal - Basabe & Diaz
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 12:33 AM) I'm weirdly very excited about Basabe. Like in my head for some reason I keep thinking his ceiling (I'm talking max skill) is something like Mike Cameron. .260 hitter with 20-25 HR, 20-25 SB, plus defense. Except Cameron has better plate discipline with BB and K rates. He is completely overshadowed by Moncada/Kopech, but dude is a legit prospect. Loud tools and if he puts up numbers in 2017 I'd expect to see start popping up on the back ends of top 100 lists.

Ravelo DFA
His in game power never developed. I remember talking to a scout who would swear he could bomb them in BP and he was going to a monster.

Weekly Farm Update 11/7
QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 03:45 PM) How is Rymer supposed to be with the glove? I could definitely see him starting in LF next season if this is a full rebuild I know before his Tommy John surgery he was regarded as a strong defender who could play all three OF position with a plus arm. After the injuries and missing all of 2016 he is a bit of an unknown to how his body responded, but it is encouraging he is putting up strong numbers in the Dominican Republic.

Baseball America Sox Top 10
I would flipflop Adams and Hansen in the top 5 for sure. The back end of the top 10 is a big ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Interview with Matt Zaleski, Pitching Coach for Great Falls
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) Rob Young @RobertHYoung 19h19 hours ago Under Zaleski's watch, the @gfvoyagers pitchers led the Pioneer League in ERA, WHIP, K's, SHO's and the least BB's, H's, and HR's I should also note the team ERA (3.54) was the best in the Pioneer League since 2003.

Interview with Matt Zaleski, Pitching Coach for Great Falls
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 05:37 PM) I took this from the Pioneer League website today: After naming its All-Star team Monday, the Pioneer League unveiled its Most Valuable Player and Pitcher of the Year on Tuesday. Rookie-level Idaho Falls catcher Meibrys Viloria took home the 2016 Ralph Nelles Award as the circuit's MVP, while Great Falls right-hander Aron McRee was named the 2016 Logan Hurlburt Pitcher of the Year. Viloria led the league with a .381 batting average, 28 doubles and 54 RBIs and finished second behind Ogden's DJ Peters with a 1.061 OPS and tied for second with 53 runs scored with Aaron Schnurbusch; both trailed Peters' league-leading 62. Viloria started behind the plate in the All-Star Game against the Northwest League and represented the circuit in the Home Run Derby. McRee won the circuit ERA title in a runaway, finishing 5-0 with a 2.16 ERA. His six walks were the fewest among qualifiers, and he struck out 54 batters over 66 2/3 innings. His two home runs allowed trailed only Great Falls' Yosmer Solorzano, who gave up one in 81 frames. Chris Tripodi is an editor for MiLB.com. Follow him on Twitter @christripodi. This story wa No argument here he deserved accolades for his performance. He has impressive control and his ERA was very good, but a good comparison might be that the Heisman Trophy winner in College Football isn't always taken early in the NFL draft. He had so-so numbers from a DII school and his 54 strikeouts and 57 hits allowed over 66.2 innings and .228 batting average against suggest he wasn't blowing rookie level hitters away. I am not saying he is a bum or doesn't have a chance, he is just a long shot. But again, hats off to Zaleski for getting the most of his guys, multiple examples with Hansen, Solorzano, and McRee.

Interview with Matt Zaleski, Pitching Coach for Great Falls
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 08:12 AM) Good stuff about Hansen but a little disappointed there's nothing about Aron McRee . In hindsight, I wish I threw in a question about McRee, just because of how amazing he has been as a UDFA. However, the interview was running long and McRee is a long shot to do much at the higher levels. Though his success is another testament to how well Zaleski is doing.

9/4 Games
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 5, 2016 -> 10:10 AM) Not sure he'd qualify as a sleeper. I guess it depends on your definition. He's been on the back end of our Top 30 for a few cycles now. Though I admit I don't see him on any other lists. He lacks velo, and I am guessing that scares some folks off. Or at least that was the report last year - he's still a teenager and he had a pretty low-effort delivery, so it's possible he's added a few ticks this year. I don't have any local reports to work from. Talked with Matt Zaleski (GF pitching coach) about Solorzano a couple weeks ago. That interview should be up soon at FutureSox.

2016 Minor League Catch-All thread
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) Grab the man an outfielder glove. He is 220 pounds and has stolen one base in 2016 between college and the pros. He has what scouts lovingly call a "catchers body." If he can't stick at catcher he is a 1B/DH for sure. Personally, I think he will end up catching a few days a week and being a C/1B/DH hybrid. He should platoon with a strong defensive catcher type like Omar Narvaez.

More optimistic on Zack Burdi. Nate: Any chance that Zach Burdi is a starter? Klaw: Yes, a small chance, but a definite chance.
