  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) I guess. The Red Sox must have not been compelled to put a third blue chip guy on the table if they knew their offer was already the best. It's just annoying. I like Basabe's potential but Diaz doesn't do much for me. He just seems like another bullpen arm. Even a guy like Travis or Dalbec in place of him would've made the deal much better. Travis and Dalbec are their current #5 and #6 prospects, respectively. Once DD agreed to package Moncada/Kopech/Basabe and Hahn agreed to move on from Devers, the fourth piece was going to be a flyer. Sox scout John Tumminia was "pounding the table" for Diaz to be included, based off what they saw at the end of the season. He could move quickly and be a dominant set-up guy or even closer. Thats a great way to round out a very high ceiling package of players.
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 11:47 AM) Does anyone have access to Law's list from last year? Yes. Are you looking for Moncada's rank? He was.....#17. LOL
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 11:31 AM) I don't give a damn what his reasons are. Yoan Moncada is a consensus top 10 prospect at the very worst, even with that short MLB sample size. Period. "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" I don't agree with Law's reasoning here, but to suggest he should ignore a red flag (to him) to go along with the consensus is asinine. Thats his job to notice faults in young baseball players. Hopefully he is completely wrong, but no reason to bash him for pointing it and it and sticking to his opinion.
  5. He said he wraps his bat and can't get to stuff inside, which was concerning enough to drop his likely ceiling. Take that for what you will.
  6. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 08:43 PM) I think he'll have Rey Lopez in his top 20. Guy is so talented and he flashed his potential as a starter in a big way last fall. He can call him a relieved all he wants but that's just not a name you can leave off a top 100 list if your a national media guy beholden to a certain degree of reason from your readers. Wanna bet?
  7. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 10:37 AM) I also dont get why Rey Lopez wouldn't be on there unless he spat in Law's food. He is convinced he is a reliever. So thus, no top 100.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 09:09 AM) Interesting. One of the bits I caught was that it sounds like something is wrong with Fisher, do we know anything more about that? I reached out to Jameson to see if he will be ready for ST. I know he missed time last season on several occasions when he dove for balls on defense and re-aggravated his shoulder he previously had surgery on. That is just pure speculation though.
  9. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 10:57 AM) Does Alvarez have a legit shot at getting some ML PT this year? Thats a tough one. The White Sox have a whole mess of middle infield guys (Anderson, Sanchez, Lawrie, Saladino, Peter, Moncada, Alvarez, DeMichele) who are all at the major league level or AAA and only so many spots.
  10. QUOTE (Donaldo @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 08:27 PM) How is his defense? Would he be a good replacement for Eaton? Matt Cooper is another guy who intrigues me. By all accounts, Engel plays a plus center. If he bat doesn't develop, he is a safe 4th outfielder by based on his defense. Matt Cooper is a interesting guy, probably more of a reliever to me, but could be a useful one.
  11. Full list for those who don't have insider... 1. Braves 2. Yankees 3. Padres 4. Pirates 5. Dodgers 6. Brewers 7. Mets 8. Reds 9. Rockies 10. White Sox I'm shocked but also not? He has definitely said Lopez and Fulmer are relievers and Collins can't catch so it makes sense from his perspective.
  12. QUOTE (Donaldo @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 07:36 PM) These updates have really made the offseason bearable. Thank you. Spring Training is less than a month away! Thanks for reading! It is appreciated
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 09:45 AM) Is there going to be more from the talk with Fisher? No, it wasn't an official interview. I just shot him a message for his experience on the camp.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 01:06 PM) Seems like the fight wasn't his fault based on all publically available information. I heard something similar, but he threw a punch regardless. I'm not trashing the kid between the lines, I love some attitude on the mound during a game. I am just pointing out there is some cause for concern over the off the field stuff and I hope it doesn't hold him back any further than it already has.
  15. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 12:40 PM) I dont have a problem at all with Kopech's attitude. He's a pitcher not a politician. Dont you want him to be obsessed with fitness and competition? His attitude wouldn't be a problem if he had a clean record. He was suspended for 50 games for a PED in 2015 and then missed time last year when he broke his hand on the face of a teammate. His off the field attitude is directly impacting his on the field performance as a pitcher.
  16. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) There's no way Glasnow is still the #2 best RH pitching prospect in baseball. Apparently he is
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 10:36 AM) And notables included Keller from the pirates, also rumored. Potential Sox targets for Q are #2 Glasnow, #5 Martes, and just missed Keller.
  18. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 11:09 AM) https://twitter.com/MichaelKopech5/status/342759612740669441 I'd prefer if he had a goal of lowering his walk rate.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 11:37 AM) Crossing my fingers here. http://www.chicagonow.com/future-sox/2016/...ng-marco-paddy/ Wow great catch. These J2 signings are completely far before the deadline so perhaps Sox already have him locked up.
  20. I do still believe in Fulmer but the White Sox didn't do him any favors last year. It was obvious he was uncomfortable in the bullpen role last year and was overthrowing. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do this year as a starter where he has previously excelled.
  21. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 01:43 PM) Right now? Top 5 After a Quintana trade we should be #1 I would say we are behind the Yankees and Atlanta for sure...maybe Pittsburgh and thats about it.
  22. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 06:14 PM) Really great stuff. I'm not a batting expert by any stretch, but if the worry on Moncada is that he comes to the majors and fails to make consistent contact, would the White Sox be wise to encourage him to bat from the left? Thanks for the kind words. I thought the same thing, but when I asked around, experts and scouts seem convinced his righty swing still has a lot of potential. Almost all his power numbers came from the left, but I was told he still has tremendous power from the right.
  23. QUOTE (southside guru @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 12:15 PM) I heard from a Phillies fielding guy that Moncada can't play the middle. Body looks the part. but the hands don't work! My bet - he's heading to 3b of the OF Several scouts have indicated he lacks fundamentals there, but he does make highlight reel plays so its just a matter of consistency. He was passable at 3B when the Red Sox put him there, but some believe he would be utilize his speed in CF. It will be very interesting to see what Sox do with him.
  24. I also should mention I firmly believe Jake Peter and Brian Clark will be effective big leaguers, though their ceilings are probably utility guy and 7th inning reliever, respectively.
  25. Good post. I know you guys like Eddy, but Adam Engel is a no-brainer for me here. He is a freak athlete and has extremely loud tools who has shown he is capable of putting it all together in short bursts (2015 AFL MVP). The White Sox played with his pre-swing mechanics last season and it kind of set his production back, but he has an extremely high ceiling if it clicks for him. My interview with video is below if you want to check it out. http://www.chicagonow.com/future-sox/2016/...iew-and-videos/
