The Possibility of the Curve Ball from the Sox...
royoung replied to shipps's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 11:25 AM) If I'm Hahn, I'm only using Texas for posturing. I disagree, I think Profar, Gallo, and especially Mazara are pretty enticing. I am not sure why the hate on Profar, he struggled last season with injuries and now healthy as a 23 year-old is hitting .296/.349/.414 in the big leagues. Gallo's swing and miss is concerning, but he has Chris Davis type upside with unworldly raw power. -
The Top 30 White Sox Prospects, Midseason 2016
royoung replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 09:28 AM) The first two are really one thing, and the fastball tops more like 95-96. Are you evaluating based on one outing? The Sox rushed him. He was just starting to get a good rhythm as a starter in BHAM, and I think they made a huge mistake doing what they did. I agree 100% with NorthSide here, they rushed Anderson and Fulmer to help the big league club try to stay in contention. Anderson (surprisingly to me) showed he belongs, Fulmer is a different case entirely. If the Sox have any aspirations of him sticking in their rotation, they need to send him back down to keep working with Birmingham's pitching coach J.R. Perdew. Perdew was his pitching coach in Winston-Salem and helped him through his early season struggles in Birmingham. -

QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 01:03 PM) Amado Nunez has been flying under the radar so far, he's been having a pretty impressive year for an 18 year old in the AZL. I guess his defense needs a lot of work right now but a .330/.355/.452/.808 line over 115 ABs is pretty encouraging. Not flying under the radar with FutureSox....not sure if you noticed he wasn't in the 16-30 list released yesterday

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 12:06 PM) Can someone with insider access please summarize the Bowden suggested trades please? The link is referred above but here it is again: http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/the-gms-of...r/post?id=12715 Basically, White Sox would ask for Boegarts or Betts, Red Sox would say no and they would settle for Moncada, Kopech, Swihart, and Rodriguez. Same story with Rangers and etc. I just don't think the Sox would settle in this instance. No reason for them to.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 10:28 AM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/cent...nez-antony.html These Jim Bowden's trade packages are dumb. The conversation would end after what the Sox ask for, there would be no rebuttal from the opposing GM.

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 11:04 AM) Jon MorosiVerified account @jonmorosi Word in industry this morning is #Nats have intensified their efforts to acquire a reliever after last night's walk-off loss. @MLB If we could get Robles and/or Fedde for Robertson I think I would be pretty pleased.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 10:57 AM) Small typo toward end: Aaron McRee will get the start and opposes Colorado's 1st round pick Riley Pint on Wendesday. Corrected. Thank you sir.

I know the pitching market is wacky, but I would be floored if the Marlins dealt the #2 overall pick from two years ago for a 32 year-old journeyman.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 07:47 AM) Collins isn't hurt is he? Pinch hit for on Sunday and out of the lineup yesterday. Yes, on 7-day DL due to a concussion. It is not expected to keep him out for long.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 12:54 PM) He pitched for both Arizona and Cincinnati at the MLB level. I meant make the majors with the Sox after being drafted by them. But I didn't realize how bad his MLB stats were...jeez.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 12:44 PM) So weird having Holmberg back. I keep thinking that. It is. I think it would be pretty awesome for him to make his debut with the Sox.

White sox may be reconsidering their stance of being non sellers
royoung replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 08:02 AM) The problem with KW/Hahn running the rebuild, they would probably sign Robin to an extension at seasons end. That's how pathetic this organization is right now. You have tremendous assets who can bring back incredible building blocks, but let someone else make those trades. Hahn/KW's time should be over. I don't understand how there isn't any smoke to Robin being fired. There was some rumors a month ago when the Sox were possibly still in it, now they are sellers and nothing? I honestly think that he will resign at some point. Fits his narrative of being lukewarm about the job in the first place and the Sox being too loyal to can someone. -
Confirmed. He will make his debut tomorrow night.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 09:51 AM) Some real blowouts last night. Send Burdi to A ball and work on his starting, please. One bright spot seems to be Jake Peter. Seamless transition to AAA. More middle infield depth (time to trade Lawrie). He is likely sticking in the bullpen to limit his innings this year then stretching him out as a start next year.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 08:39 AM) Sort of. Confession: He's possibly my favorite sleeper name in the system, but even I wouldn't have him ranked higher than maybe just outside the Top 30 names. Before the draft, I might have T30'd him. Robbins is the prototypical example of a prospect that gets missed but stat line scouting. He shows very little HR power, doesn't show speed in stolen bases, and doesn't take walks. But here's what you don't see: --He leads the CAR in outfield assists and has a very good arm --He's got 60 or 65 grade speed (I've clocked him multiple times), but just isn't doing the base stealing thing yet --He's got very strong hands, and I've seen him flick a laser off the wall while in a poor hitting position with no leverage --He shows very good barrel control and plate coverage (this you can sort of see in his contact rate - K/PA around 15%, and in July it's just 7.5%) In other words, he's got a 60 or better arm, 60 or better speed, makes good contact despite being no threat to walk, and has substantial raw power that isn't yet game power. Here's where he hurts himself, and it's two-fold. For one thing, he does actually work counts, but once he gets to two strikes he wildly expands the zone. He's got good enough bat control and coverage to not strike out a ton, but he makes weak contact in those instances. Second, because he's expanding the zone so much, he sells out leverage (and therefore power) for coverage, so he doesn't allow himself to get into a good hitting position. Those things are fixable, which is why I don't consider him a non-prospect. If he changed his deep-count approach and kept himself back in a good hitting position, this is a legit MLB outfield prospect. But so far, he hasn't been able to do that. Also what NorthSide failed to mention is he has a 70 grade mustache.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 09:34 AM) Put him in the bullpen. Half joking. There was some discussion when he was drafted if he would be a better prospect as a hitter or a pitcher. Sox seemed to have made the right choice!
