I'm off (along with everyone else our Illinois and Florida locations) but our Colorado facility will be working. Figure that one out... My wife works tonight and tomorrow night.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 09:13 PM) Am I weird for never having drugs or alcohol ever appeal to me? Keep in mind I'm a senior in high school and I'd say at least 90% of my classmates drink every weekend, and a good portion smoke, and a smaller portion do even bigger stuff then just pot. No. I'm 31 and am the same way. Never did drugs. Never took up smoking. Never been drunk. I'll go out once in a great while and have a couple drinks but that's about it. Never beer though.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 04:13 PM) Apple grandes are absolute heaven I ordered one at a Taco John's in the Quad Cities and all I got was a blank stare.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 04:27 PM) Those commercials were awesome. SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGE!!! Seriously though, my buddy and I used to get a 12 pack of Surge each weekend night and stay up all night playing NHL 96 up to Goldeneye. Those were the days. Vault is almost the same thing.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 10:49 PM) Green River is fantastic. I used to get it when I was on vacation at my cottage. It was a treat, and basically just Sprite with added sugar and maybe a bit diff. flavoring. MMMMMM There's a store here in Rockford that sells Green River 2-liters. There is also an ice cream shop where you can get Green River floats. I had a "real" green river soda on vacation this past summer from an actual soda fountain in a drug store. My wife and kids didn't like it but I thought it was awesome. Better than the store-bought stuff.

QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 02:21 PM) DUDE! I wouldnt feed Arbys to an animal. I love Arby's. They have the best chicken cordon bleu. If I say 'apple grande' from Taco John's does anyone know what I'm talking about? Those things are awesome.

My list is unusually small this year. I’m missing a couple of seasons from the Home Improvement box sets and the two newest Stephen King books. That’s about it.

Black Panthers + Night Sticks = Voter Intimidation
Iwritecode replied to Jenksismyhero's topic in The Filibuster
I'm sort of curious how this could be classified as voter indimidation? What could they have possibly been trying to do? Scare people into not going into the building at all? Scare people into voting for Obama? How would they even know who voted for who? -
Mommy, that salesmen is on TV!

Halloween is usually one of my favorite holidays but I just really haven't been into it much this year for some reason. Too much other stuff to think about this year I guess. Nobody even really decorated at my work either. We're taking the kids out like we do every year. Then this weekend we'll be packing everything back up and putting it back down in the basement.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) Like downloads? I can't imagine sitting at my desk, staring at my relatively small computer monitor and trying to watch a movie compared to sitting on my comfy couch and watching it on my larger TV.

QUOTE (mreye @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 09:38 AM) So the bad guy is going to have to buy this software, a telephoto lens, a key grinder and go through all this trouble to get my 10 year old 42 inch TV, a computer that's so slow I need to turn it on before I go to bed if I want to use it in the morning and a DVD player, PS2, VCR and Cerwin Vega speakers that have been beaten to death by 3 kids? Hell, I'll just open the door for him when he knocks. Change that 42 inch TV to a 27 inch and I'd think you were talking about my house.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 10:30 AM) Me too. It is also the biggest TV that will fit into our entertainment center/kid's crap holder. We actually got the TV we have now 5 or 6 years ago when we bought a new entertainment center. We've since switched to a corner TV stand that it just sits on top of. Now with all the space around it, the TV actually looks pretty small. One of these days if we get a newer TV, we may even upgrade from basic cable...

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 08:18 PM) 32 inch? What is this? 2006? Absurd! A 32 inch TV would be an upgrade for me.

This scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCildVCn2No Also in Pet Semetary when the little kid dies. No parent should ever witness their 3-year-old getting run over by an 18-wheeler.

We have one account and my wife takes care of making sure the bills get paid on time. After the bills are paid, we have no money left until our next payday so there's nothing to fight over. Works out pretty well...

QUOTE (juddling @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 10:51 AM) I know HIMYM is popular around here but am I the only one here that finds "Big Bang Theory" right before it is quite often laugh out loud funny? IMO Mondays rule. I go from Big Band Theory, to HIMYM to Heroes to My Own Worst Enemy. Wednesdays are good because I've got Southpark and then the rerun of Sons of Anarchy.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 11:46 AM) http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/vid...ckstage/773862/ That was funnier than the original skit.

The only part where I really laughed was the first time Butters shot the guy and Cartman scolded him. "You shot him in the dick!?!" After that it started getting a little old. The rest of the episode was meh... Definitely not their best work.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) You would.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 01:30 PM) The Space Olympics and Extreme Challenge were both hilarious this year. I watched those and the Donkey Bunch thing and didn't laugh at any of them. I liked SNL better back in the Sandler/Farley/Spade days...

QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) The Cubs took over the town in 1984 when the Cubs attendance went on an upward trajectory that has lasted ever since. It's largely due to the Cub lovable loser / Harry Caray drinking at a day game vibe that was cemented that season. At the time at Old Comiskey, it was a place where young folks went to drink and get into fights. As a child that was my impression and, quite frankly, the Cubs lured in some of my south suburban friends with it. Bottom line - the Cubs were sold as a product while the Sox were trying to sell themselves as a baseball team during the 80's. They were playing different marketing games and the Cubs won, hands down. Actually, it was a culmination of a number of different things. The Tribune had just bought the Cubs. People could watch the Cubs for free on WGN while the Sox were on Sportsvision which you had to pay for. And of course, Harry leaving the Sox for the Cubs.
-
QUOTE (moneyman6544 @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 10:34 AM) two guys I work with just said that they give up on the Cubs and will probably be looking for another Chicago team to cheer on next year. A friend of mine who's been a Cubs fan for 25 years said the same thing to me yesterday. He said he packed up all his Cubs memorabila and stuck it in a box. He said this one time before and it didn't last so we'll see how this goes.

At our high school they have a pre-school program where the kids in Home Ec. get to teach the pre-schoolers and get class credit for it. My wife did this her sophmore year. Just the other day we picked up the paper and saw one of the kids that she taught on the front page. He's now a Senior and will graduate next year.
