What the hell??? Why is the Wii so hard to find still?
Iwritecode replied to Kid Gleason's topic in SLaM
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 12:48 PM) I live in Harvard. You live in Rockford (or so it says over there to the left). I called every store in Rockford last night and got nothing. I think it is all in the timing. Now it's more of just the fun of the hunt. I don't look for them every time I'm out but I've checked a couple of times and have seen them sitting on the shelves. Did you check all the EB games? There's like 3 or 4 of them. 2 Targets, 3 Wal-Marts, Best Buy, Circuit City... -

I've seen them all over the place. The PS3 too. Maybe it just depends on where you live. -
QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 09:09 AM) From another forum: "The mentality I have seen most Law enforcement personnel display does not give me any confidence in their abilities. In addition, most law enforcement training is rather lacking. A firearms training facility in Nevada is running a 26 episode challenge between "trained" law enforcement personnel and "plain aficionados" that have gone through their training. The "plain aficionados" have won in the neighborhood of 80% of the competitions. Check out www.frontsight.com to learn about the facility." Would people be more comfortable if getting a concealed carry permit required training at a facility such as this? Here's another story: "Keep in mind another data-point. In Israel, everyone can carry a concealed weapon. Recently, when an Arab terrorist attempted to hijack a bus about 4-6 people wound up pointing guns at him. Off to jail he went. Later, he reportedly commented that he was never told by his 'trainers' that Israeli citizens are armed to the hilt." No Rambos. No cross-fire fatalities. Just a potentially lethal situation adverted by armed citizens who refused to just be victims. That brings up an interesting quetion. If we had the same laws here, would this guy have even attempted this stunt in the first place?

QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 12:03 AM) You can buy it on MLB.tv for a few bucks to keep. That's the legal way to do it. It's probably not a good idea to discuss the pirating of copyrighted material on a public message board.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 04:44 PM) I would guess it's less than 5% of the population. That's about 15 million people. That's a lot of families depending on the ability to own guns to eat. I just wanted to show you that there are more people than just police and military that should be allowed to own guns.
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 02:37 PM) I realize there is not much of a connection but if my ideal society were to exist the hunters who use guns would have to take on another hobby. I threw fishing out there but I guess you can still hunt with a bow and possibly some other weapons. I'm not a hunter so I won't pretend to know what I'm talking about. There are hunters out there that don't hunt for sport. They hunt to feed their family.

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:15 AM) I'd rather not link to his despicable site. He regularly protests at funerals for fallen soldiers, saying "they got what they deserved." Just look up "Fred Phelps." I saw a 7-part series on Youtube (which has since been removed, probably by somebody from his "church") called "The most hated family in America". It was about a journalist who spent a week with them to see what they did and how they lived their lives. Quite interesting but the people seemed pretty hypocritical to me. Their actions don't always seem to mesh with their beliefs. I was saddened at the way they basically brainwash their own kids. At one of the protests one of the kids was walking around with a sign. The reporter asked the kid if he knew what the words on the sign meant and he said "no".

The key is to just remember that you can't have two frogs in a row facing the same direction. Unless they are on the ends. Once you know that, it's fairly easy.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 02:24 PM) Did we ever get an update on Burly? Xrays negative. Day to day

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 01:50 PM) Well, the second he was hit everybody knew he was done. I guess he just started walking off the field as soon as he was hit, didn't even go for the ball. To me, that sounds like he knew it was broken right away. He did start going for the ball. Once he realized he wasn't going to make the play then he started walking off the field.
-
QUOTE(Wanne @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 01:48 PM) that was complete crap! Ball was right there for a strike...then he has to come back 3-1 instead of 2-2...gone. It certainly looked more like a strike than the one that was at Iguchi's eyes and was called a strike.

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 01:31 PM) Has there ever been a worse opening series for a club in the history of baseball? In 2005 Houston started 1 - 15 or 3-15 something like that. Look where they ended up.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 01:13 PM) no this is the culmination of a selfish GM, a cheap owner and a god awful tactitian running hte tema. What are you saying? Contreras and Garland shouldn't have started the first two games?

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 09:19 AM) What the heck is a Starbury? I assume its some sort of shoe, but I don't know where you'd find good shoes for $16. Here's some info.

I saw it. It appears that it will be set in Liberty City (again) and will probably be a modern day time period. Not sure if the Russian dude who's narrating will be the main character or not.

About 4 different Sox sites, Gamefaqs and a Stephen King website. I've signed up at a couple other message boards but I rarely go to them anymore.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 10:11 AM) Sure sign the world is ending, or I'm getting really old, my Dad, who practically lives in western boots, is now wearing Crocs. How did this become a phenomenon? Is it just a southern thing with our weather? My wife and daughters got some last year. I've seen tons of people wearing them in the past year or 2. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 06:52 AM) Love it. So that talk about it losing suction simply because it's made out of plastic is garbage?
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 12:11 PM) You don't even have to go that far. Look at real estate in Gary IN. Rockford was voted "most affordable housing" a couple of years ago. I did a search and found 31 houses for $30,000 or less. The cheapest was a 3-bedroom with a garage and basement for $8000.

QUOTE(Y2HH @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 08:15 AM) Also, I was watching a Cubs broadcast the other day on TV and one of their announcers mentioned that the dropped 3rd strike rule was changed by MLB (due to AJ's steal of 1st base). The rule is now that if you take a single step toward the dugout, you are immediatly called OUT, rather than having the touch the dugout steps, as the rule was previously written. Can anyone verify? They have until they leave the dirt circle around home plate. AJ still would've been safe. Here's a link.

How is Seattle at home a "Prime" series?
Iwritecode replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 12:15 PM) how many losses has seattle averaged over the last three seasons? 85-90? I don't think they are looking at that when they designate prime/premier games as much as WHEN the game is being played. All weekend home games between June and September are prime or premier. The one I'm trying to understand is why the Tigers series July 23 - 26 is premier, yet the series against the Indians in August isn't. Because the Tigers are the defending AL champs? -

QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 11:21 AM) guys, if mid-summer weekend matchup is the answer, then WHY AREN'T TAMPA BAY AND KANSAS CITY ALSO PRIME SERIES???? Because they are in May? Summer = June, July & August. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 05:42 PM) I wasn't part of that convo, but based on using it daily for the past 2 weeks, that would be a false assesment. I think I was the one that started the Dyson thread. It was awhile back when I was looking for a new vacuum and I asked if they were worth the money. I don't remember who it was that said that they would eventually wear out because they were plastic and I should look for a metal one. I even asked a guy at a local vacuum store and he said they weren't worth the money either even though they sold them. I ended up getting one with a bag (after having horrible luck with 3 or 4 bagless in a row)and it's been pretty good so far. The only thing that's been wrong is that I broke the belt when I accidentally ran over my daughters backpack strap. So, what do you think of your Dyson now that you've had it for a little while?

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Mar 5, 2007 -> 02:08 PM) If you care this much about it why don't you or won't you get DirecTV istead of cable? I like cable better because it's less expensive and I can have 5 different TV's hooked up to cable and watch five different channels on each TV. Try that with a dish...

Now I agree that many kids are pampered these days I don't agree with another adult touching my kid. If there's a problem at school then send them to the office, don't let them have recess, make them right their name on the board 100 times, etc... If there's a bigger problem, call me and I'll take care of it. If a teacher has to resort to taping kids to their seat, she shouldn't be a teacher because she doesn't know how to properly control a class.
