QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) Carrottop? Really? I haven't seen him in quite a few years but I discovered him in the early 90's on MTV. I went to his show a few times when he came to Rockford. First time I saw him live, he was pretty funny. Second time there was some repeat stuff but it was still pretty good. Third time it was all repeated stuff. Fourth time we skipped but some friends that went said that he did a lot of new material. Figures... Some of the props he comes up with were pretty dumb but some were hilarious.

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jan 22, 2009 -> 11:01 PM) -Jean Shorts on men QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jan 22, 2009 -> 11:11 PM) Jorts (jean shorts) I never knew about this until last year when I happened to be watching Next on MTV (horrible show but nothing else was on at the time) and the guys on the show started making fun of one of the other guys because he was wearing jorts. Hell, I'd never even heard the word "jorts" before. Why are these so unpopular all of a sudden? I've still got a couple pair that I wear every once in a while. I guess I fell off the fashion train many years ago...

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 07:19 AM) I bought my PS3 online and got no interest for 12 months. Where? I would like to do that as well.

Am I the only one that doesn't like shopping online simply because I like to get the X months w/no interest from the store instead?

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 06:12 PM) Jumped mine too and started after I turned it off a couple of times. Waited another 15 minutes and try to start it again but the voltage was down to 10.7 volts. Looks like I'm going to have to change it tomorrow. Anybody have any battery changing horror stories. I do. I was on vacation with my family and my parents in Michigan a couple of years ago. We were all piled into my suburban and we were towing a pop-up camper. We were getting ready to move on to our next desination and decided to stop at a petting zoo for the kids. When we got ready to leave, the suburban wouldn't start. When we went to check the battery, the piece that the cable gets screwed into literally fell out of the battery. We ended up getting the owner of the zoo to drive us a few miles to the closest town so we could buy a new battery. Luckily they had one that fit.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 19, 2009 -> 08:46 AM) No kidding. Most decent mechanics would have checked that when installing a new battery. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) took to get it to AutoZone where they replaced the battery. Autozone =/= decent mechanics. Hell, they should have tested the battery and the alternator first before even replacing the battery.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 31, 2008 -> 12:48 PM) Hmph. Some credit check program... I can't even type my number into the box there. Just post it on here and I'll check it for you.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 30, 2008 -> 06:11 PM) The other shoe dropped today. Bad news: someone has been using my credit card number, online, the last few days. Had to cancel it, get new cards, and all that pain in the ass. Good news: its now pretty clear that someone got my info from something on the web - somewhere, where you put in CC# and address and all that. Its good news because this isn't my credit file being messed with. Credit cards can be cancelled, calls can be ignored. Could be a lot worse. I am usually quite careful about shopping online, only using major retailers and trusted names. But apparently, even that is sometimes not safe enough.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 03:20 PM) not sure what i can do, i went to Gamestop and they told me that the resurfacing thing they have sucks and it wouldn't help me out. i tried some home remedies i read about on the internet to fix scratched cd's, but none if it worked. i might just be out of luck, maybe i'll just replace my busted madden 09 with a cheap used madden 08. Is it possible to return it? Most stores will let you exchange for the same title. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) Don't buy your games from GameStop. They sell their old games as "new". I've always been a little leary about the fact that their "new" games are always open and out of the package. I usually only stick to buying Gameboy games for my kids from there but we had to break down and buy 1 game from them for christmas. I was shocked when the guy at the counter gave me a game that was actually still sealed in the shrink wrap. We questioned him and he said that they all come sealed unless it's the last one in stock. FWIW.

I just saw something a few days ago on the history channel I believe about the drug wars they are fighting in Kentucky of all places. I guess there are people that plant crops of marijuana in the wooded hills and when harvest time rolls around, the police lfly around in a helicopter to try and find the crops. Then they radio down to a ground team that goes in and confinscates it all. I can't imagine the cost of all the hours and man-power involved in something like that...

QUOTE (philadelphia sox fan @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 08:06 PM) Well, my computer isn't exactly new, and firefox tends to shut itself down on a regular basis so I needed an alternative. QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 08:28 PM) Opera is a great choice for people with older computers or slow Internet connections. I think of it kind of like 'Firefox-lite'. Firefox will do everything Opera does and much more, but it works much better on newer/faster computers. For example, it does not work well on my 3 year old Dell Desktop running Windows XP, but it's amazing on my 2 month old laptop with Vista and 3Gigs of ram. I'm hooked on Firefox because of all the great add-ons that are available. My computer is about 5 years old and I just upgraded it to 1GB of memory about a month ago. I've been running Firefox on it for years with no problems.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 01:43 PM) They look the same but are very different in quality. I went to school in southern ohio and had several Rally's burgers, my roomates and I then traveled down to Key West and they were surprised how much better Checkers is. They were merged in 2000.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 10:09 AM) I can second this... their cheddar fries are out of this world. My daughter always wants to go there just for those. She calls them cheesy fries.
-
QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 09:26 AM) I was thinking of this a few weeks ago. Loved their burgers. The one in Waukegan is now a Rally's. I'm pretty sure Checkers and Rallys are the same thing. I had a few Rally burgers in Cincinatti this past summer for the first time in years. I forgot how good they are.

Beef-a-Roo double-cheeseburger = best burger ever. They also have the best fries.
-
Honestly, I don't think it's fair to compare the two sandwiches. Other than the burger and the bun, they are totally different. They should have compared a Whopper and a Big N' Tasty or something like that. At least they have similiar toppings. Anyone else remember when BK brought out something called the Big King which was basically a Big Mac with a BK burger? It didn't last long.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 09:35 AM) I don't think ANYONE would vote for the live action one. I voted for both.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 01:38 PM) You need to get a new job then. Keep in mind that if you have a corp job, half of the pay you get goes to taxes and your benefits, whereas bartender have that cash, but pay a huge lump sum on taxes at the end of the year and have to buy their own insurance which is expensive without that nice corp discount. I'm already looking. My company will be closing down our Illinois location and moving everything to Florida within 2 years. That 900-1200 isn't much lower than what I make gross. I don't have any benifits right now and don't really pay much in taxes. I get it all back in April since I make so little and can claim 5 dependants.
-
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 11:46 AM) He said in the post that it also includes Thursday so its like 900-1200 and that is just three nights, not including slower nights. I need to become a bartender. That's nearly what I make in 2 weeks.

Our carpet can't really get any worse than it already is so I don't really care either way. The worst thing is when people come in with wet shoes and I'm walking around with socks. Wet socks suck.

QUOTE (Shadows @ Nov 27, 2008 -> 12:03 AM) And I will just throw this out there, but its almost never the drivers fault that your pizza is late. QUOTE (Shadows @ Nov 28, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) Drivers know certain places that tip well and the ones that don't, and if you are in the ones that don't category don't expect a speedy delivery.. I just wanted to point out the irony in these two posts here...

QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 26, 2008 -> 04:17 PM) Well I'm salaried, but my annual pay increase is based off performance, if I suck, then I get a sucky/nonexistent raise. Same here but our raises are so small it's almost not worth it. Our average raise is only 2%. If I really work my ass off and go above and beyond I might get it bumped up to 3%.
-
QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Nov 26, 2008 -> 03:33 PM) Do/did you work in a tipped position? If not, what is your incentive to do your job well? I must quote office space here... Really, what's anyone's motivation for doing their job well besides fear of getting fired? I make a crap salary and my company is going to be gone in about 2 years so I have even less motivation. Now if I started getting tips based on people receiving their magazines on time, I might work harder...

QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Nov 26, 2008 -> 02:17 PM) the waiters and waitresses and even pizza guys, i understand. even though i think their employers should pay them a fair wage in the first place, not requiring me to pay them 80% of their income. i'd rather pay $8 for a burger w/o tipping versus $6 for one and have to tip. i forgot about the bathroom guys, man they drive me insane. But if you do that, where is the incentive for wait staff to give you good service?
