White Sox Acquire Infielder Alex Cintron

QUOTE(easyw @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) Sorry - yeah - I meant Anderson. Some of us work for a livin and I got like 5 things going on here. Yes. Anderson. Dye IS a streaky hitter. He has been prone to injury. He's, what, 33 years old? Is he an All-Star? What does he bring to the table? A lifetime .272 BA? and that helps your arguement that he'll have a down year how? He's been a consistent hitter his whole career. You can pretty much pencil him in for around a .275 average 25 homeruns and 80 rbi. I don't consider batting a ball off a leg and breaking a bone or seperating a shoulder by crashing into Bengie Molina "injury-prone". I call those freak accidents. -

QUOTE(easyw @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 01:06 PM) Dye is streaky hitter prone to injury. Look at his career! He had a good year last year, I think he's due for a down one. I hope I'm wrong. His numbers from last year are almost identical to his career averages. The only thing he was over on were homeruns. Prone to injury. -

QUOTE(easyw @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 12:38 PM) Dye will underperform this year, if he doesn't injure himself first. Except for years when he had a couple of freak injuries, Dye has been a pretty consistant hitter and fielder. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 12:28 PM) Mack is going to be starting a lot this year in CF against tough righties and in the infield giving guys days off, Ozuna is going to be used primarily as a pinch runner and at times a pinch hitter for infielders seeing how he's a pathetic LF. That leaves a need for a guy who can play solid defense at all OF positions and add a little offense as well. Borchard can play 3 postions all of them well and those positions are more frequently subed for than the one position that Gload plays. That's the reasoning. You know what? I didn't really think about Anderson being in the outfield and being subbed for a lot with Mackowiak. I'm just glad I don't have to make the decision on who to keep. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 12:22 PM) That's not a good reason to use a bench spot on a player and that play was during the 1st game of the season, there's a damn good chance Konerko would have made that play had he been in there. So what's the reasoning on using the spot on Borchard when we have 2 other guys who can do the same thing and hit when called upon? I guess it all comes down to what you'd rather have. 3 extra guys that can play firstbase (all of which can also play outfield if needed and pinch hit) or 3 extra guys that can play outfield (two of which can play infield if needed and pinch hit). -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 12:18 PM) Konerko doesn't require a defensive substitution. Only situation where a 1st base defensive substitution may be warranted is during interleague games in national league parks, when perhaps Thome will occasionally start. No need to fret about several games. IIRC, Gload replaced Konerko in the 9th inning of one of the very first games last year. Maybe even the opener. Made a pretty nice pick to end the game. I'm not entirely sure Konerko could've done the same thing. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 12:08 PM) I still think this is a worthless arguement, who the hell keeps a player on the bench strickly to be a late-inning defensive replacement at 1B? What is Borchard going to be? A late inning defensive replacement for the outfield. Something Ozuna and Mackowiak can easily fill. Do we really three replacement outfielders? One of which can't hit above the mendoza line? -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 11:55 AM) How does Gload allow Thome and Konerko to stay in the lineup more than Borchard? That doesnt even make sense. If you have to make a defensive substitution and you have Gload and Borchard on the bench and Thome at DH, who are you going to choose? Get rid of Gload and we'll end up with Ozuna either at first or DH. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 11:50 AM) Absolutely, the guy has started at 1B his entire career, why all of a sudden is he only an everyday 1B? He'd be playing there maybe once or twice a week, I'm sure that would be a welcomed change for him to be able to get out on the field on defense. I'm just thinking that Borchard can't really do anything better than any of the other bench players. At least Gload can be a useful defensive replacement that allows both Thome and Konerko to stay in the lineup most of the time. Plus he's at least proven that he can hit major league pitching. I've got this funny feeling Borchard will be resurrecting his football career this summer but I could be wrong... -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 11:47 AM) Actually he cant play right field, and if they put him out there, he is a butcher with no arm. He only plays one position. So you really want to rely on our DH to be the backup at first? -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) And Borchard. Gload only plays one position, and its already taken care of. He is worthless to this team. Actually, he can play right field and first. Who's the better choice for back-up firstbaseman? -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 11:42 AM) Yes, lets let a guy make the team base on something that may happen once all season. Good idea. Or we could take a player who could actually fill in once in a series and play good defense at a position where he is needed. That's what Ozuna, Mackowiak and Cintron will be doing... -

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 11:24 AM) Now im pretty sure Borchard gets the last spot who I was rooting for anyways over Gload. I think Gload will get it. Think about it. If Thome is DHing and Konerko is playing first, who's the late inning defensive replacement at first base if needed? Gload > Mackowiak. -
They've obviously been watching Dateline lately...

QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 10:15 AM) My check engine light went on twice in two months last year. It was a faulty gas cap and a sensor. Thank goodness. Check engine light typically means something electronic is wrong. Most of the time it's some sort of sensor. It's when something mechanical is wrong that you start to have big problems.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 08:45 AM) My check engine light went on in my 2002 PT Cruiser. So I drive it to the dealer to get it checked to see what it could be. They tell me it will be an hour wait for my check, and that it will cost me $90!!! Shouldn't that be something they just do for owners of their vehicles, especially when my car doesn't even have 65,000 miles on it yet??? Man, dealers and so many mechanics are just out to f*** you over any way they can. I swear, the f***ing Mafia is run with more respect for people that those f***ing assholes. You'd get the same thing at any repair shop. That's just the cost to hook it up to their diagnostic machine to tell them what the problem is. Here's a hint: You can buy your own code reader at the local AutoZone for a few bucks. In all the cars I've owned I can just take a piece of wire and stick it into the DLC connector under the drivers side of the dash. Here's an interesting website I found that explains how to get the codes from your car. Your problem is probably something simple like a $10 sensor.

QUOTE(zach61 @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) Kinda hard to see, but is it from the shining? Yes it is. That was probably the most frightening scene in the whole movie just because they go from two innocent little girls standing there to flashing that for a few seconds. redrum... redrum...

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 11:13 AM) That's what I thought. I think the shows she watches (cause I do occasionally also) are on Discovery and CourtTV. They are investigations of real crimes and the details of how they found the evidence and how it was linked to the crimes. Some of them they take years. It's pretty amazing. Yea, those are the ones.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 09:14 AM) Apparently it did. It was nominated for 7 Oscars. Am I the only one that can watch the Oscars and not recognize a single movie nominated? That just happened to me during the last awards show. I'd barely even heard of half the movies much less seen them. The only thing I know Chris Penn from is Best of the Best and Footloose.

My wife watches those forensic(sp?) shows all the time and is amazed at what they can find to solve some of the murder cases. I always say "Yea, but that's just the ones they solved." Just think, had this woman never confessed, they may have never figured out what happened to the murdered couple.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) Well, the Little Caesars just down the road from my house is $5 large, one topping, all the time. So it shouldn't be too hard to figure out what pizza joint gets the majority of my business. There's a Little Caesars right down the street from my house. I always laugh when I see the person standing on the corner holding a large sign that says "Hot and ready". They couldn't pay me enough to do that. I've gotten their pizza when we need something fast and cheap. Mostly I just stop for the crazy bread though. I like Papa John's but they're pretty expensive. Pizza Hut is ok but usually better after it's been in the fridge for a day. My favorite is a local place called Napoli's. We can get a family size for $12 bucks and it feeds 7 people.
