QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 06:28 PM) If you want cheap AND good, pick up a frozen Home Run Inn pizza. Thawing it is the key. Put it in the fridge for a day, then leave it out for 3 hours before baking. MMMMMM. You can get 2 larges for like $10.00 at Jewel. $10 for 2 frozen pizzas? I can get totino's for a buck a pizza...

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) www.B-O-L-O-G-N-A.com Also known as http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/cell411.asp I actually got in trouble when I replied to a company-wide email that said that we should put our cell phone #'s on that list. I responded with the info from that website. That being said, I've never heard of receiving text messages from an unknown company that causes you to get charged for something when you merely read the message. I have received text messages from my cell-phone provider telling me to "keep and eye out for great savings at their website". I'm thinking that the do-not call list wouldn't be much help for things like that anyway.

There's a local restaurant that's only in the Rockford area that serves the best french fries I've ever had. It's called Beef-A-Roo. Their burgers are pretty tasty too.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) I would love to see a ghost but have yet to. I have however seen a UFO before. Seeing something out of the ordinary like this is just incredible and something I'll never forget. I've seen lots of UFOs. I'm pretty sure most of them were from this planet though...

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 11:46 AM) ...meh, I was debating mentioning this or not, but, if anyone has any interest talking extraterrestial or UFO pheonomea, I have a few stories to share...two of which I expierenced first hand. All kidding aside, I'm a total believer. They were weather balloons. Oh and the crop circles were already proven to be made by humans.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 11:42 AM) Bunch of people from my high school (barrington) have went there. One of the stories i heard involves a black SUV chasing them out of there and following them for a long time. Kinda scary. That seems to be a common theme with a few of these places.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) According to Yahoo, it's Loves Park. I guess that means we shouldn't trust Yahoo maps. 61109 is a Rockford zip code. Loves Park is 61111. I prefer mapquest or google maps.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 11:38 AM) Mitchell Drive http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?addr=Mit...ew=1&name=&qty= But farrr, farrr from 173 Yea, that's the south side of Rockford. Loves Park is north of Rockford. I can't even think of any "rest areas" anywhere around here.

I totally forgot all about this place. I've never been there but it was a big thing when I was in high school. There is a campgrounds that we go to all the time during the summer that's just a few miles north. I'll have to remember that next time we go... There was some old farm house somewhere near Caledonia that a handful of my friends visited one time. Another friend of mine and I were sitting at a Denny's when they walked in and started telling us about all these strange things that happened to them while they were there. So we all loaded up and went back out there. When we drove past the house they kept saying "Can you feel that? Something doesn't feel right" My friend and I were both sittin in the back seat. We just kinda looked at each other and shrugged our shoulders. I guess if you don't really believe in this stuff you don't "see" or "feel" anything. At least I never have...

This intersection doesn't even exist! There is no Mitchell Rd. in Loves Park, much less one that intersects 173...

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 10:05 AM) Amber alert: Amber alert Issued for 4 Year Old Illinois Girl Sangamon County Illinois--The Sangamon County Sheriff's Department and the Illinois State Police issued the Amber alert after the child was reportedly abducted from 3050 Green Valley Road in Springfield on February 21, 2006 at 2pm. Cassandra M Mcnear, a white female, 4 years old, 3 feet, 42 pounds with brown hair, and brown eyes. She was wearing pink/red top with heart in middle, pink pants, white Nike tennis shoes, and pink coat with cat pictures. Cassandra was taken by her father Adam L.McNear who is driving a 2003 Silver Mitsubishi Galant with Illinois License Plates 728-7963. He may be en route to Highland,California. Anyone with information on this abduction should call 9-1-1 or (217)753-6600 http://www.projectsafekids.org/alert.html for her safe return. I've always been fuzzy on how a kid can be "kidnapped" by his/her own parents...

It's the rule of 3. I liked this line though: If someone tells you they are a chronic liar, do you believe them?

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 06:50 AM) Modern video games creep the hell out of me and I would love for my kids to never, ever, get involved with them. That's why Nintendo is still around. My oldest has an N64 and a Gamecube. Her games consist mostly of Sonic the Hedghog, Spyro and Mario.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) Metallica wasnt until 1996, and by then Ferrell started backing off. Wow. I could've swore that I was still in high school when they came here. I remember a friend of mine that had a couple of shirts that he made and got in trouble for trying to sell. One said Peca-palooza and the other said Lolla-tonica.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) Oh... my sister-in-laws are throwing it... but she did ask for it. LMAO.. her PAY for her own shower.. for shame!! Asking for one is a little tacky. That's like asking somebody to throw a b-day party for you.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 09:15 AM) LOL, its been a big event pretty much from the start. The difference now is the acts that they use to draw the fans. In the beginning, it was up and comers. Now it is all about the money makers, the DMBs and the Smashing Pumpkins and anyone who can fill up a venue. Thats pretty much why Perry Ferrell abandoned the project in the late 90s. A 3 day Lollapalooza is pretty awesome though, I know I would make an effort to go to one night. I remember somewhere around 94 or 95 Metallica was part of it. The festival was in Pecatonica (small town near Rockford) and the lines were backed up so badly that some people didn't make it in until the show was already half over.

QUOTE(mreye @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 11:05 AM) So many jokes, so little time. I think it's tacky to have another "Shower" and accept gifts. So what if it's the first girl / boy. We had out first daughter Jun 30 and our second Dec 27. Would it have been OK to have a shower because we didn't have any winter baby clothes? You ran into that problem too huh? Hand-me-downs are a great thing for parents but it helps if the kids aren't born in opposite seasons...

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) I thought maybe there was some connection between Church's Chicken and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Instead, it turns out Church's Chicken (and Caribou Coffee) is owned by Arcapita, formerly known as the First Islamic Investment Bank. I didn't even know there were still Church's Chickens around, I haven't seen one in at least 10 years. Sorry to hear about the kid though. I just wish there was some better way of making drivers stop than flashing red lights and a little stop arm. Well they've started putting those long arms that swing out on the front of the busses so the kids are forced to walk farther around and the driver can see them better. Maybe they'll start putting the same thing on the sides of the busses?

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) Chicago Cubs trophy case Shouldn't there be a few attendance trophies in there? How about the numerous awards Kerry Wood has amassed. Most simulated strikeouts, most simulated wins, etc...

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) Verizon is the best cell company in US, but that said it depends on your area. They cover a lot of ground around the country and the reception was pretty good the few times I did use it but we went back to US Cellular because our monthly bill is cheaper there. Plus they cover most of Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa which is about all the farther we travel anyway.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 12:16 PM) Cingular did the samething to me except they have all of the customer service people not use their real names so that it is more difficult to track them down. It was a nightmare. We were already told that we shouldn't be responsible for the termination fees. The rest of the bill is activation fees (which they forgot to mention when we got the phones) and $50 for the use of the phones which we were supposed to receive a $50 credit for anyway. This was promised to us by the manager of the store. Now we have the supervisor of the customer service rep we talked to emailing the supervisor of the manger of the store. It gets interesting when you start moving up the management chain.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 10:16 AM) I've had Sprint for years now, and they have been great, save for one thing: the renewal process. They are always running deals for NEW customers, and I have to pull teeth to get them to make the same offer to existing customers (didn't anyone ever teach them that its cheaper to keep customers than to get new ones?). Other than that, they have been the most reliable network I've used. It seems like all cell phone companies are that way. It's almost like once they have your money, it's doesn't matter anymore. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 10:16 AM) I had verizon for a little while, and Ameritech before they were bough by Verizon. Verizon was awful in every sense. I had Verizon for a grand total of 15 days. On the 15th day I called and cancelled because US Cellular finally decided to give me a decent deal on the phone I wanted. It was one of those "try it out for 15 days" deals. Now I'm fighting with them because they sent me a $700 bill that had termination fees on it even though I cancelled within the 15-day period. I'll never go back to them again.

QUOTE(Drew @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) But not teaching when and when not to use caps? Proper names, beginning of sentences. Is that really all that difficult? I've noticed the biggest problem with my kids is the spacing between words. They either put a huge amount of space and only fit like 5 or 6 words on a line or they try to squeeze the entire sentence onto one line. One reason I love computers so much. You never have to worry about stuff like that and if you want to fix something at the beginning you don't have to erase everything.

Just as long as they don't try to pack 20,000 people in next year...
