  1. Interesting facts here. I never knew it was Africans making other Africans into slaves. How/why are we always blamed for it?
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 08:51 AM) No. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060208/ap_en_...DRrBHNlYwM3NjI- The sheriff's department won't pursue any charges, Deputy Luis Castro said. "Unless a deputy saw the violation, there's nothing we can do," he said. "We don't even know if this took place in our jurisdiction." Yea, I guess that makes sense. They don't know when/where the picture was taken...
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 7, 2006 -> 09:03 AM) Sadly the cops can't ticket her cause they didn't catch her in the act.. :headshake Wouldn't this be the same as getting your picture taken while running a red light? I know they send people tickets in the mail.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 6, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) But I also think that firing the man is absolutely retarted as well. He got suspended for 10 days and is back teaching now...
  5. How come we don't go around calling each other honky or cracker? I've never understood it. I'm also smart enough to stay away from it...
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) I'm pretty sure someone here is related to Marc Summers. I'm pretty sure I'm not. My dad was adopted when he was about nine and his last name was changed. My last name should have been Kent. As a result I ended up with an "extra" set of grandparents. Actually 2 extra sets as both my paternal grandfathers divorced and remarried. Then it just gets more confusing after that...
  7. How often do sites like myspace.com come up in these reports? For those who missed it, what were the first two about? I can use all the help I can get protecting my three little girls.
  8. I loved watching Danger Mouse. Belle and Sebastian - I think this was my first introduction into anime Heathcliff - I always thought it was a rip-off version of Garfield. Today's Special - I was really young when I watched this. I remember this and Sesame Street being on around the same time of the day.
  9. QUOTE(mreye @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) Yes, he was! Do you guys realize he's pushing 90 years old and, as far as I can tell, is still alive?!? I never realized how old he was or how long he'd been on TV until I saw a clip of his show from the 50's or 60's.
  10. QUOTE(mreye @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 01:31 PM) Those are Old School? You Can't Do That on Television! Also from that same era "Don't Just Sit There" With Double Dare it has to be the original with Marc Summers. The new DD2000 wasn't quite the same.
  11. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) They shoulda maybe carded him. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11146480/from/RS.2/?GT1=7756 But teenagers drink every day. Why shouldn't they have served him?
  12. QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) Only thing i will never understand is when a highschool comes across pictures of drinking and they can suspend kids. Was not on there property, was not during school hours... likely on the weekend. That's that whole zero tolerance thing which can sometimes get pretty outrageous. I've seen stories where kids get suspended because they brought a plastic knife to school and it was considered a "weapon".
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) I would love to hear one person on here who didnt drink when they were underage. *raises hand* Hell I rarely go out now that I am of age. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) It was illegal, yes, but should you have been punished by the law for it? Do you really feel that those nights out, or nights in, dinner with the family, birthdays etc where you drank underage, were punishable by law??? You can't compare having a little wine at dinner with your parents to going to a school function with zero tolerance rules in place completely plastered. You can't expect to go to a public place and perform an illegal activity without expecting to be caught. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) Granted the website thing was stupid on their part, but the judgements by this guy were extremely harsh. And bringing them back based on pictures on a website is really assinine. Extremely harsh? Considering it didn't deter them from going out and doing it again, I'd say he wasn't harsh enough. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) Why doesnt he focus on the drung dealers and murders's websites instead? Probably because most drug dealers and murders don't take pictures of themselves commiting the crime and post them on the internet...
  14. QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 02:04 PM) I am, and then i'm gonna get Probation and take pictures of my speedometer going 90 in a school zone flicking off the camera and saying "f*** you cop" LOL OLKLOLOLOOLOL and then he'll bust me LOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOL Now you're changing your arguement. Your first response was which is pretty much saying that because "everyone else does it", they should have never been punished in the first place. That's pretty flawed logic to begin with. Then when the kids went out and got busted for doing the exact same illegal activity you don't think they should be punished a second time as well?
  15. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) changed to green. which was what I meant it to be in the first place. Cool.
  16. QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 01:57 PM) the "underage kids drink everyday" came from you justifying posting that article without copyright and saying "people do it all the time" I'm in college and i drink. i'm underage. Do i feel like i'm doing something wrong? no. You know why? Because i know that the legislators who passed that 21 law likely drank before 21. To me its like going 50 in a 45 speed zone. Next time you get pulled over for doing 50 in a 45 (yes, it can happen) try telling the cop that because eveyone else does it and gets away with it that you should be able to do the same thing and don't deserve a ticket. You might have a few seconds to drive away while the cops is rolling on the ground laughing. There's no such thing as "a little bit illegal".
  17. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 01:35 PM) Ok, since you want to whine about it, its gone. happy? Not whining about it. I'd just hate to see the site in trouble because of something like that.
  18. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) It isnt a members only article, I got it off of a Sports Radio host blog. I dont think I am doing anything wrong posting that article here, people do it every day. I happened to notice "Copyright © 2006 Detroit Free Press Inc." at the bottom of the article. I thought that means it's copyrighted and you aren't allowed to use it without permission. Interesting site on copyright laws.
  19. Speaking of illegal, what are the copyright laws regarging reposting entire articles?
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 12:16 PM) "More than 400 digital photos showed some students appearing passed out, others using special tubes to gulp beer, couples playing a drinking game called "beer pong," inebriated girls sitting on toilets -- all of it tagged with captions, many of them profane and aimed at Martone. Stesney, visiting from Detroit, and Senopole, Meershaert's roommate, were also shown drinking at parties at MSU." Oh my god, they use SPECIAL TUBES. Wow, lets go ahead and convinct every college kid who is drinking underage and has pictures to prove it. Talk about the judge taking something a little too far. My whole dorm/fraternity would have been jailed. s***, my parents let us have some beers once we got into college, it was even legal in OXford if your parents were with you. I think this is complete bulls***. Just because you never got caught doesn't mean it wasn't still illegal. That's exactly what happened here. The fact that they were dumb enough to take pictures of their illegal activities and post them on the internet made it even worse.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) I wonder how that could affect people who post exerpts from articles on here? http://today.reuters.com/news/newsarticle....OGLE.xml&rpc=22 I always thought that the copyright laws allowed you to post 10% of the article and provide a link. Not sure about the pictures though...
  22. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 12:43 AM) The thing was, I believe the girl's mother had been good friends or was once dating this guy, and for some reason didn't think he was a threat.... There are definitely pervs like that out there. My family actually had a similair situation occur once. A family friend who my parents had known since before I was born was dating a friend of my moms. We found out one day that he had been sexually abusing her special ed daughter. He's no longer a friend of the family... :headshake
  23. This has been in my office survival kit for a little while.
  24. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 03:16 PM) Confirmed, as Steff did early, number of tickets is not dependent on how many people are in the room. Spoke with the person in charge at the hotel. Burlyman56, you cost yourself extra money for the room which had nothing to do with the passes. If you book a 2 night stay, you get 4 passes. If you book 1 night, 2 passes. Has nothing to do with how many peeps are in the room. Thank god this potential nightmare is over. They do charge extra for having more than two people in the room as I found out last year though. This year I'm telling them there's only two. The third person can wait in the lobby until we get our bags in the room.
  25. I'll be the guy in the Sox jersey, Championship hat and black pants. I should be easy to pick out.
