I'm reminded of the movie Minority Report. Arrest somebody based on the fact they might hurt somebody... :headshake

QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 02:08 PM) What was the name of the dead kid in Stand By Me? Ray Brower Better question would be what's the name of the short story it was based on and what other short stories in the same book were made into movies. One blockbuster and one dud.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) Cool! My daughter and yours have the same name. Though mine is spelled "Kayleigh". Named after one of my favorite bands biggest hits. I know somebody is a fan of the band if I see the same spelling. I'm pretty sure there is no other name that uses so many different spellings. I know of 5 so far. My daughter's name gets pronounced like that sometimes because of the spelling. Her name is Kali but it's pronounced to rhyme with "Sally". We were at a doctor's office one time and the nurse mis-pronounced her name so badly we didn't recognize it until she finally said our last name.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 08:49 AM) Curiosity has been my only motivation. I think drugs are like Russian roulette, some people can do them occasionally and not get hooked and have it take over their lives and some people can't. The problem is, you never know which person you are until you try them and if there is a bullet in the chamber, you're f***ed. I guess I've been lucky in that I've tried some potentially addictive drugs out of curiosity and never got hooked. I think I might be the type of person that doesn't get addictated to anything. I tried smoking cigarettes for about a week when I was younger. I didn't like the last one I had anymore than the first one. I certainly didn't get any kind of a buzz from them either. I guess I'm weird because I'm not affected by alcohol or nicotine.

QUOTE(mreye @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 11:11 AM) I've been gone for a few weeks due to the "bug" or virus. My IT department told me to stay away for a while. I saw SS on the train yesterday and he said it's safe again, so here I am! Is there a link to the explanation? Anyway...the news: My wife and I are expecting baby number 3 at the end of September. For my sanity's sake, hopefully we can get a boy this time, please God, please! I had three chances to have a boy. I struck out... Good luck to you and congrats!

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) I disagree with your assessment of how it feels. Its entirely different. It feels much much different than caffeine, and much better. The first time you try it, you are hooked, and you constantly want more and more and more. It really is an evil drug. I was watching something on TV about it not too long ago and they basically said that it inhibits your ability to get any kind of "rush" from anything else. It basically sounded like a crack addict could jump out of a plane and feel no adrenaline rush at all...

QUOTE(JoeBatterz @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 07:47 PM) Who remembers how he first hurt his back or is this just a chronic degeneration over time? I've read that it's a degenerative vertebrae problem.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 12:33 PM) It's not, not in the grand scheme of things. Why can't people just accept that historical data that shows there are plenty of things more important than base stealing for creating runs--like OBP and SLG. What's the stat for # of hits given up because the pitcher was too worried about the guy on first and served a meatball over the middle of the plate? Just the threat of stealing a base can help...

We had a neighbor that wasn't quite *that* bad but everytime somebody stepped foot in her yard she came running out yelling at us. It wasn't because she was worried about the grass either. It was because she just didn't want anyone on her property. It was worse because her yard connected to a large empty field that we played baseball/football/kickball in all the time and there was no fence seperating them. More than once she stole a ball from us because "it was in her yard". She also got into a shouting match with my friends mom (across the empty lot) and called her every name in the book. The police eventually got to know her address real well. What' really funny is that her daughter went to school with us.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) IM sure there will be a lot of both kinds of people hanging out at the season ticket holder patio party on 4.4 As long as it's not like Soxfest where "sombody" walked up to the table in the bar and proclaimed "I'm going upstairs to have sex!"

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) Some drunk people are funny, others are dangerous. Pick your spots. I usually know the people and they're usually "happy drunks". It's always good when you end up with them saying "You're messing with me aren't you? I'm drunk. Don't mess with my head while I'm drunk." Then they give you a big hug and tell you they love you...

QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) Never smoked pot. But I've gotten "contact high" many times - good old Jimmy Buffet concerts But I never hung around with people who did it, so it wasn't an issue in my teens. One time, in my late 20's which is strangely when I all of a sudden knew a ton of people who did it, Jim and I were at a house warming party and a group was outside smoking. The host walks in from getting stoned, walks right into her kitchen wall, falls backwards, hit her head on the corner of her granite counter top and 5 hours and 31 stitches later was nursing a bad headache. That was enough for me to stick to my guns and not "smoke". My grandma did something similiar while drinking, but it involved stairs. She ended up laying at the bottom and proudly proclaiming "I didn't spill my drink!" while blood gushed from her forehead...

Plus when your sober and hanging around at a party with a bunch of drunk people, it can be really fun to completely mess with their minds...

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) The thing is I'm not even tempted to smoke or drink whatsoever. I was just talking to my friend last night who was amazed that I have never felt the urge to do either. I was wondering if I was the only one, because up until this year most of the people I hung out with never did it, and now boom they are addicted to pot smoking everyday and on the weekends doing both. Even my close friend who is going to be a minister is becomming a stoner. I just wanted to see if it is that hard for everyone else to stay clean. You're not the only one. I was (still am) the exact same way. I went to a few "parties" with my friends and sat and watched people get drunk or stoned with no urge at all to join in.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 04:06 PM) Oh, and I have never smoked weed in my life. Not ALL teenagers do it. Same here. I also never drank before I turned 21. Except maybe a wine cooler or 2. I very rarely drink anyway and (as hard as my friends tried at my bachelor party) have never been drunk. Funny because most of my friends in high school did one or the other or both. Neither of my parents drank or smoked and I think that may have been a large factor in it. My friends that drink had parents that drank...

QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) I love these quotes from Mariner Dave about Borchard... So Borchard, who is 27 and has been in the Sox farm system since 2000, has a horribly-flawed approach at the plate that "isn't easily fixable", but he thinks that Seattle is suddenly going to fix it? Sounds a bit overly-optimistic, given that the Mariners organization hasn't produced anything special at the plate since the mid-90s. I remember hearing similiar comments from Marlins fans when they got Billy Koch.

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 01:11 PM) Good riddance. He never had a good clubhouse or team attitude, and always put himself last when looking for excuses as to why he sucked. I've never heard this from the people that were actually in the clubhouse with him...

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) Hahahaa, only 5 pages until someone suggested this means Sweeney might make the roster. We should put the "Does this mean Sweeney makes team post" over/under at 5 on all threads. I only see two pages...

I don't remember where I heard it, but it seems to fit here... Women want one man to fill their every need. Men want every women to fill their one need.

Obviously tons of Cubs fans will be up for this so they have a chance to be alive the next time they win the World Series. Although 1000 years may not be long enough...

White Sox Acquire Infielder Alex Cintron

An article in the Cubune says that Mac will be the primary backup for OF. It seems like any guy they keep (Gload, Borchard or even Ozuna) there's another guy on the team that can do the same thing. -

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 12:14 AM) I'm not going to go though a 28 page thread 28 pages? Holy crap what do you have your settings on 15 posts per page? I'm set on 75 posts per page. Much less clicking.
