QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 06:47 PM) Vanilla Ice put out a remix to Ice, Ice, Baby? Actually he did redo that song as a heavy/death metal song. Pretty hilarious hearing him scream "ICE ICE BABY" in a really deep voice.

I just finished my state taxes through their website. I'm so excited I just can't figure out how I'm going to spend my entire $56. Also I just looked at my federal return and I'm literally paying 0 taxes. Every single penny I paid in I'm getting back. I need a better job...

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 09:52 AM) Work...leave at 2:00 though!! Speaking of bowling I threw a 268 Wednesday!! My second highest. Do you bowl regularly? What's your average? Mario and I used to have bowling related conversations on here every couple of weeks.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 11:05 AM) This is a group of people who think that the original inhabitants on earth where held by a galatic warlord named Xenu, who blew them up over volcanoes by use of thermonuclear weapons and spread their theatons across all life. I watched the South Park episode and when they started explaining it they flashed the words "This is what Scientologists actually believe!". I wasn't sure if they were joking or not.

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) It spins riders in a centrifuge that subjects them to twice the normal force of gravity, and is so intense that some riders have been taken to the hospital with chest pain. Sounds like the ride "Gravitron" that I always go on at carnivals and fairs. It just looks like a big spaceship that spins around really fast. You just stand against the wall and get flattened as it spins. Great fun. I took a friend on it three times in a row and he turned green.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 08:44 AM) I always slid feet first with a hook or a popup. It was the way my first "real coach" taught and later when I had a chance I tried head first and didn't like it at all. Same here. I always felt I could get to the bag faster sliding feet first than most guys could head first. There were many times I slid in and would be called safe because my foot was touching the back and they tagged me somewhere above my waist. I remember one time I slid into second, popped up and looked down to see the shortstop sitting on the ground. I didn't find out until later that I was the one that knocked him over when I slid...

Does anyone know how much we're actually supposed to pay in taxes? I just looked and I pay less than 3% of my annual salary to federal and still get a refund. I'm claiming 3 for a family of 5. My wife claims zero but makes less than half as much as I do.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) Send 'em more during the year and getting a bigger check, and a warning I am amazed by people (not you) who look at this like a savings account. They knowingly overpay during the year, giving a zero interest loan, and enjoying a big refund, that they reduce by paying for electronic filing and a cash advance. Why not pay the correct amount, put the oberpayment in a savings account, and earn interest? That would be because my wife is really bad at saving money. Right now she is giving money to her mom out of every paycheck to hold on to so we have money for birthdays, Christmas, etc... If she had access to the money, even in a savings account, she'd be tempted to spend it. I know we are giving the government an interest-free loan but at least we know we can basically count on it being there every year...

QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 11:51 AM) question... If you don't owe anything, do you have to file? The only reason I know of that you wouldn't have to file is if you didn't work and/or receive a paycheck for the entire year of 2005. Otherwise you do.

Pixar always has great short movies on their DVDs. My kids especially liked the one that played before Toy Story with the baby and the little drummer toy. The "outtakes" they add to the end of their movies are awesome too. I think I've seen and enjoyed almost all of their movies.

Technically once since I get a fresh one every time I take a shower but I always hang the used ones up to dry somewhere in the bathroom and put them on the floor to step on when I get out so I don't get the floor all wet. We usually leave them up to dry our hands and clean up spills (which are many in a house with 3 young kids).

That makes the $700+ bill I got from Verizon seem cheap. Yes, I had to argue with them but they finally got it down to under $50. They gave me 3 "early termination" fees when I cancelled within my free trial period. Horrible company...

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 07:12 PM) Mac and Cheese has got to be Kraft, since i was like 8 years old. Yep. The generic stuff is just nasty. Really that's about it for me. Everything else I'm not too picky about. Sure I have my favorites but if I have to settle for something else then it's not a big deal.

I love threads where people try to tell other people that their opinion is wrong. Movies, music, food...

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) Not even close. I admit I liked and watched both shows and those were two big reasons why but as far as judging the overall show (not just the eye candy) I enjoyed Wonder Years just a little bit more. I think it was the fact that it was a little more relatable to real life. Not everything got resolved in 30 minute segments and sometimes bad things happened. Even at the end they didn't wrap everything up in a happy little package where Kevin and Winnie get married and everyone lives happily ever after. Saved by the Bell of course had it's moments but I could never get over the fact that they had such a close relationship with their principal. Too much like the Archie comics... IMHO of course.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 02:16 AM) Saved by the Bell = greatest show ever! Kevin & Winnie > Zack and Kelly Plus Paul was a much better "geek" than Screech.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) But I thought we solved that in the ice cream thread...Cold Stone = over-rated I thought it was Cold Stone = over-priced. People making 10K a year definitely won't be stopping there.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:24 AM) I can't put it better than Royko did. In 1995: And responding to some readers in 1993: Still missed, Mike. I don't know about pouring milk on french fries but I have poured milk on a bowl of saltine crackers. It's quite good. I've also dipped chicken nuggets in ketchup and french fries in honey. Never got into the seasoned fries in ranch dressing though...

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) Seriously, I've never heard about this supposed ketchup etiquette. And I've been putting ketchup on my hot dogs as long as I can remember... Same here. I didn't even know what a chicago-style hotdog was until I was about 15 or 16. I have been called retarted for putting mayo and ketchup on my burgers though...

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 03:46 PM) I hate to say this, but... Good. It should be $4 a gallon, if not more. More good than bad will come from higher gas prices, at this point in our country's history. It will suck for all of us in the meantime, but it will force changes that are desperately needed for our long term success and survival. Right, because I need to spend $150 a week on gas just to get to work and support my family. 40 miles one-way is a long way to ride a bike and I sure as hell can't afford to buy a new(er) car...

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) If they do I feel bad for them. I've never once tipped there. Tipping at DQ would be the same as tipping at McDonald's. It's pretty much just a fast-food restaurant right? The one near me even has a drive-thru. Tying in the ice cream thead, Cold Stone Creamery usually has a tip jar and if you put a dollar in they'll sing a little song.

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) It's even more sad that the ones that NEED the help can't get it or have to jump hurdles to get it, but the ones who are cleating the system are getting thousands per month driving around in new Caddies.. :headshake That's the really sad thing. You have to have money to make money. The rich get richer and the poor get crap. Well, unless they get lucky enough to be on that "Renovate my Family" show. We are right in between so that we aren't poor enough to get any help and not rich enough to use the money we have to make more. The best I can do is sell a bunch of my old stuff on Ebay...

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) Until last year, Wal-Mart considered an employee working 28 hours a week to be full-time. I worked for a radio station who's news director's salary in 2000 was 14K a year. His assistant was 12K. I worked for the third largest radio company in the country for a while and one of the assistants to the sales staff was making under 18K a year and working 50 hours a week. You'd be surprised how little you make on the low end of the white collar scale. I think you guys would laugh if you knew how much I made considering the line of work I'm in...

I just paid $2.56 this morning but it hasn't been under $2.50 for the past 3 weeks.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 09:23 AM) There are certain exceptions to the minimum wage rules. I had to look them up once, but have forgotten most of them. Perhaps with the recent changes, those classifications were removed. It was things like waiters who received tips, seasonal jobs, etc. You could also deduct for uniforms, regardless of actual cost) and stuff like that. There is a different minimum wage for people that work for tips. IIRC, if there wages + tips doesn't equal the federal minimum wage the employer has to make up the difference. There also probably really bad at their jobs if they're not getting enough tips...
