QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 02:46 PM) My comment wasn't directed at you. That's my bad. Yes. Got it. Use the quote feature man!

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 02:33 PM) This has to be a joke debate. I've never seen such incoherent reasoning from one person. Love the book, hate the movie. What's hard to understand? Or were you referring the the Batman movie debate?

QUOTE (brett05 @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 01:07 PM) For me, the best Arnold movie is The Running Man I'm almost positive we've had this discussion before but I've never gotten over the fact that they completely destroyed that story compared to the Stephen King short story. I guess if they would've named it something else, I wouldn't dislike it so much because it might be a decent movie on it's own. But it's just not even close. The only thing the two have in common is the name.

Nobody mentioned the Santa Clause trilogy? I'd definite put them up there with A Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation. Although the 2nd one was probably the weakest one of the 3.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) Went bowling for the first time in two years and rolled a 170 with marks all over the place and my ball having the movement it needs for high scores. Choked on some easy spares and missed some easy spares that I feel would come back to me quickly if I bowled more. This begs the question ... is bowling one of the easiest sports to perform well in? The 170 with pocket balls all over the place means if I bowled more, I would quickly average about 160 or better and roll my share of 200 plus games. Is bowling easy is my question?? Short answer: No. Longer answer: Like anything, the more you do it, the better you should get. Although I know people that have been bowling 30+ years and still don't get much more than a 150 average. Pretty much anyone can have one really good game. My wife averages in the 120's and shot a 192 the other day. But being consistently good like the pros and averaging 220 or 230 isn't what I would call easy. A lot of people compare bowling to golf. There are about 100 different ways to mess up your shot. Off balance, too fast, too slow, bad back-swing, bad approach, etc... Sometimes when you correct one thing, you do something else wrong. Then there are times when you throw a perfect shot and continuously leave corner pins. That's all not even mentioning different oil patterns. There's a reason a lot of guys carry 3 or 4 different balls with them. So sure, with a little practice you could probably be a decent bowler with an average in the 180s or 190s, but I wouldn't go trying to join the PBA anytime soon. Those guys make it look easy but like with any professional athlete, they've literally dedicated their lives to their craft. For the most part, even the best bowlers in a typical weeknight house league wouldn't stand a chance against them.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 23, 2015 -> 11:37 PM) Well, still no 300 game, but I ended game 2 with 6 and started game 3 with 6, so I did get 12 in a row. (My record is 16 in a row, but no 300 game) 185, 235, 225 That's pretty good. I think I've done something similar once or twice. The one 300 game I shot I had 18 in a row. I saw a guy once throw 12 in a row during our 10 minute warm-up time. He was/is a really good bowler.

No spoilers for this guy.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 02:20 AM) There is an option to turn it off...right in the game options. http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/05/27/tu...ox-playstation/ I know about that but the game actually penalizes you for going that route. Turning off my internet connection before even starting the game doesn't. If/when I ever decide to start any of the online hacking stuff, I'd like to keep the little bit that I've earned.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 09:18 AM) No dots on the approach. So sometimes I know I am a a little left or right of where I need to be, and as a result, when I hit my mark on the lanes, it has a different arc. usually not too much of a deal, but if we are on the lanes closer to the door, when it is cold out they dry out super fast, your lines get even tighter and there is no room for error. I've been to some pretty crappy houses but I've never seen an approach with no dots. That's unbelievable. I know how much of a difference it can make when I move my feet a board or two. I always use the dots to line up. Especially on spares.
-
I'm not sure what you're describing. You only have the dots but not the arrows? Or you don't have the dots on the approach where you set your feet?

I'm finally getting around to playing Watchdogs and I'm finding it quite annoying that other players can come in and interrupt my game while I'm playing. I've never been a big fan of the online play for open world games. I tried it a little bit on GTA5 and Red Dead Redemption but didn't really like it. But at least those games gave you the choice of when you did and didn't want to play with other players. There's so much other stuff to do and I get so little time to play that I simply don't have time to mess around with someone else. So I finally just shut off the internet connection. Problem solved.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 06:29 AM) AMC is developing a series based on Joe Hill's NOS4A2. Joe Hill, as some may know, is Stephen King's son. His writing is similar to King's, but he has his own voice. I thoroughly enjoyed NOS4A2 and knowing it's going to AMC gives me hope. Less of a chance of an Under the Dome disaster. I remember reading this book and thinking that I just did not like the main character. Interesting story though with lots of references to SK's books.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 04:01 PM) No, I think people understand that adults get upset about this. I think people struggle with WHY they get upset about it. What about me telling someone Happy Holidays drives them to such rage? Recognizing that there might be kids from other cultural and religious backgrounds in a public school seems pretty harmless to me. In fact, NSS' experience seems pretty ideal to me. Because they have this mistaken belief that they are no longer allowed to say Merry Christmas. I'm questioning where that's coming from and why it would be any more harmful than any other greeting.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 12:03 PM) Another example that shows baseball is swimming in cash. That's how he can get 10 million. Any owner who cries "poor" is lying through their teeth. Don't blame the players for taking the money, careers are short...they can't play for 40 years. Mark I could work 100 years and still not hit 10 million.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 11:06 AM) I also think big public institutions like schools cave based on some expected blow back that may never arise. The "PC" culture has made people ASSUME things will cause an uproar, so they react before anything happens. This.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:47 AM) I went to school with a Jehovah's Witness and we had "holiday parties" instead of "Christmas parties" and none of the kids actually cared. I went to school with a Jehovah's Witness and we had Christmas parties, Valentine's Day parties, Halloween parties and he go to go home early on the day of the party. He didn't care, his family never made a big fuss about it and the rest of us got to enjoy ourselves. Now the kids don't get any classroom parties at all. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:47 AM) Do grown adults actually get upset if it's not called a "Christmas" party? Google "the war on Christmas". Yes people get upset when things are renamed to be "holiday" parties, parades, plays, etc... instead of "Christmas".
-
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 08:56 AM) Go visit a school and watch their Christmas, I mean Winter Season, play. They have colleges with Diversity Departments warning people that even a Christmas tree would be bad form and not 'inclusive'. It's a solution to a "problem" that never existed.

The problem is that nobody was ever offended in the first place. But at some point, somebody decided that someone, somewhere *may* be offended at some point in the future, so we better replace the phrase with something else. Now it's just become backlash to the backlash. It's also the reason kids can't have christmas or easter parties in school anymore.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 03:30 PM) No, but there's no shortage of complaining over "Happy Holidays". "Merry Christmas" is the politically correct phrase to use. I think it's the other way around. Everyone always posts how they are going to keep saying "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays" and they don't care who they offend. I have yet to find a single person that is actually offended by either phrase. It's similar to the whole Starbucks cup thing.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 01:37 PM) Don't worry, though. Christianity as a religion is going away. Sure. There's only a couple billion people that identify as Christians. The religion that nearly 1/3 of the world's population follows is "going away". LOL QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 01:37 PM) Hey, quit saying Merry Christmas, Christians. It's offensive, you know?? I see this 2 and 3 times a day on my FB feed this time of year. Has anyone actually said this or even heard it said ever?

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 11:43 AM) LOL It seems like they are dying to give you a free rental there doesnt it? They used to call and leave messages or send something in the mail. "We haven't seen you in a while. Come on in and get a free rental!" Haven't had either of those lately.

Finally had a good night last night. 224, 215, 211 I figured out at least three things I had been doing wrong the past few weeks. I had to move over farther left than what I'm used to, I had to adjust my wrist brace slightly and I had to make sure I followed through on my swing. I only threw one split the entire night. We are still hanging on to first place but just barely. The second place team is only 2 games behind us and next week is a position week.

We have a few Family Videos around here as well, although I haven't actually been inside any of them for quite awhile. Since we finally got a DVR last year, I just wait until the movie channels have a free preview weekend and record a bunch of stuff to watch later. I've got a ton of movies on there I still haven't gotten around to watching. Although I bet if I went to FV tonight they'd give me a free rental simply because I haven't been there for so long.
