Twice last night I heard someone ask if this win meant the Cubs were in the World Series.

I shot 220, 233 & 234 last night for a 687 series. Kicking myself for missing a few really easy spares. Could've easily had a 700 series had I converted one or two of them. It's my first 600 series of the year though, so I'm happy about that. My average jumped from 180 to 186. I'd like to get it up above 190 at least.

White Sox peripherally make news for Cub Hating

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) And hey, maybe the Cubs winning will bring all the White Sox fans out of hiding next summer. That's my hope. If anything, it would push them deeper into hiding. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 01:59 PM) Say what you want about Ozzie. The one time we got in the playoffs we fricking went all the way. The Sox went to the playoffs twice under Ozzie...

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 12:23 AM) since I stop fully and pause a full three seconds at stop signs now. If this was the result of giving you a ticket rather than a warning, then the cop just made the streets safer. There is now one less driver out there doing rolling stops.

I have a couple of Cubs fans on my FB feed that have posted but other than that, I haven't really had any interaction with any other Cub fans. I haven't seen/heard all that much from the media either. I bowled against a team on Tuesday night that were named Cubs fans. When I talked to them I found out one was actually a Sox/Cardinals fan. Another one was wearing a Twins shirt.

QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 11:52 AM) I'm just assuming Arrieta does his thing and the Cubs move on to the Cardinals. On an intellectual level, I'll feel sorry for the team that loses tonight because I think the system in baseball isn't just unfair--it's wrong. Just a few years ago the Cubs would be playing golf right now. A few decades ago both the Cubs and Pirates would be out. Neither team won their division but yet they are still getting a shot at making the playoffs. 12 times the White Sox have won 90 or more games and missed the playoffs. How different would our history be if they had one final shot at the end of the season to advance?

I didn't realize until last night that I was pronouncing Dallas Keuchel's last name wrong. I didn't know the "ch" made a hard "K" sound.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 05:04 PM) The first and only trailer to The Force Awakens comes out on October 19th, according to the reliable Star Wars News net. They are the only site to come out and put their name on the line and attach it to a date. Talked to someone at the film festival office who works with Syncopy, and you'll get more info about the new Christopher Nolan film before the holidays. First and only? What about the one that's already out?

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 02:32 PM) Can't get the sound here at work, but I wasn't disputing the amount of guns, nut more the motivation behind buying them. In the other links, nothing says that she bought them because she feared confiscation, except one woman who says she said that, and facebook posts they reference but don't link. I am not saying she didn't feel that way, asking if there was proof other than one person's word. And fyi, just about every gun owner thinks confiscation is out there somewhere, because it is. What do you think 'laws like Australia' is code for? I guess my point was this was another situation where the person had access to legally purchased guns (much like the Sandy Hook shooter). More/tougher guns laws doesn't seem to be the answer, although I don't know what is. We don't know who the "bad guys with guns" are until after they've already done something like this.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 11:46 AM) I clicked every link there, and all you have to back that up is one person saying the mom said this. They mention Facebook posts but no links. Have you seen anything to back this up other than hearsay? Sheriff says they seized 14 guns.

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 11:10 AM) I wonder where she got that idea. Read it on the internet. Must be true.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 09:15 AM) The team lost money in 2014. They only spent about 90 million and lost money? Either way, that’s bound to happen once in a while. My point though is the Sox are not the type of team that is going to go all out and spend big money to try to win it all. Something like the Tigers have been doing the past few years. That’s just not how they operate and I doubt it ever will be.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) This proves that Jamie Moyer was the last of the guys able to pitch forever, as well as LaTroy Hawkins. I mean Mark has never been on DL, has that smooth motion and is done at 36? Poor pitchers. Their arms just can't take the stress. 36 is not old compared to some of the dudes of the past. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 11:47 PM) This is a no brainer. Sign Mark Buehrle. One year and an option at 5.5 mill a year. You changed your mind in less than 2 hours.

QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 02:27 PM) the point is, the sox owners can afford to loose for 1 yr and make it up in the following yrs in many ways. Sure they can. But AFAIK, in the 30+ years they've owned the team they have never done that. So I doubt they'd start now. According to Jerry, they try to run as close to break-even as possible.

His mother stockpiled guns fearing Obama was going to take them. Appears that all the guns were purchased legally.

I know from personal experience, driving 1.5+ hours to and from work every day gets really old really fast. I can't imagine doing it at Hawk's age.

White Sox lowest rated TV Regional viewership in MLB.. 2015

QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 10:38 PM) i am not using this to criticize the org, but this is me showing that i still have faith in the sox i grew up with. after they get the pieces to improve .... and it is positive , the season tickets will sell and mark my words, if the offseason is good. the fans will start watching next yr. Step 1 - Build it. Step 2 - They will come. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 01:13 PM) Ugh I hate it. I have a f***ing rat or mice in my house. I am hoping it is a rogue one but have had evidence over the weekend and no luck on the traps I set. I can't sleep in peace. And when I say in my house, I'm not talking attic or walls but in it. Wife left garage open a crack and then our entry door as well and something came in when it was open. Get a cat...

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 08:46 AM) What I don't understand about White Sox fans is why it is now a requirement to make the playoffs xx many times in xx many years, and their has to be back to back appearances...If that was always the requirement, how the hell did anyone ever become a White Sox fan? It's not difficult to understand at all. Those requirements aren't for us. The ones who post on message boards like this are the die-hards. We are the ones that have been fans since we were kids. Had our fandom passed down from our parents and grandparents. We are the ones that still watch the team even when they only win 60 or 70 games. The problem is when it's just the die-hards going to the games, the attendance is only going to be 10 or 15 thousand a game. Those requirements are for the casual fans. The ones that only pay attention when the team is good. There are a lot more of them than there are of us and we need them to come spend their money at the ballpark. But they won't until the team starts winning and winning consistently.

QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 06:31 PM) very interesting comparison. i really never thought of that in that way. what i saw is, if they had the wild card, the success of those teams would have had a whole different outcome esp in the fan base and attendance. all that was needed was a catalyst to start the ball rolling for a better success story. what could have been ...... Yeah go figure. From 1990 to 2006 the Sox never finished lower than 3rd (and that only happened 3 times). Yet the 3 times they made it to the playoffs it was because they won the division. Not a single wild card winner. Now that they've expanded it to two WC teams, they are finishing 4th and 5th. 99% of the history of this team can be summed up as good, but not quite good enough.
