Regarding TWD: What was the reasoning for showing the ants(?) crawling in through the window and all over the plate of food the kid left on the floor? Was there some larger point that I missed somewhere?
  2. I wonder if you took a poll of random Sox fans at any given home game, how many of them would even know who Nancy Faust is? 15%? 20% maybe?
  3. I'm not a writer but I read a lot and it seems to me that writing a good ending is the most difficult part for a lot of writers. There have been many times where I've read a book and it's really good right up until the ending.
  4. QUOTE (kevo880 @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 10:08 AM) Lol what? There have been trades, but I wouldn't say "tons". Hardly any FA's have signed. It's just a slow start to the offseason transactions. Did he really have to make the whole post green?? I though it was pretty obvious.
  5. Sounds like your insurance broker may have been a car salesman at one time.

Is anyone else watching Heroes Reborn? Apparently last week was the last episode for the year. They come back in January for another 3 episodes. Seems odd to split up the season that way. Also, they are doing this story-line that seems vaguely familiar. There is a set of twins, a boy and a girl and their mother died while giving birth to them. Then immediately afterward they were separated and hidden and grew up knowing nothing about each other. Now they have found each other and have to join together to save the world. I swear I’ve heard this plot somewhere before. But it was a long time ago somewhere far, far away…
  7. The final measurement I saw for our little town was 14". The only place that I saw that had more was Capron at 14.2"
  8. QUOTE (kevo880 @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 03:36 PM) Correct. I have heard that the fee is 1% of your income. Does anyone know if that is true? Also, if I have my own insurance plan through work, would the 1% fee be our combined household income or only her income since she is the only one on it? https://www.healthcare.gov/fees/fee-for-not-being-covered/ 2.5% of household income in 2016 or $695 per adult. Whatever is higher.
  9. QUOTE (kevo880 @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) Yeah he told me by not going with an ACA plan then I will get penalized just like anyone that doesn't have health insurance. What he presented was only like $204/month though. I attached the power point presentation that he emailed us. I get it now. It's because it doesn't meet the minimum requirements. So you'd be one of the few that actually has insurance, but still have to pay the yearly fee (that will continue to go up every year) on top of it.
  10. QUOTE (kevo880 @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 02:36 PM) I know by not going with an ACA plan there is a fee, but have any of you decided to go this route for your insurance? I don't know of any fee. I get my insurance through my work and they have a plan that was grandfathered in so it isn't an ACA plan and I don't pay any extra fees.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 10:48 AM) Southern Indiana, near Louisville. We went to Louisville on vacation one year. It was around August IIRC. Every morning we got up it was so humid it was hard to breathe.
  12. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 08:28 AM) Sunny with a high of 55 here today. Where is "here"?
  13. Semi-related story: I took my daughter to a walk-in clinic to get a sports physical for school. I figured it would be faster and easier than scheduling an appointment and driving across town and waiting an hour in the waiting room to see our regular family doctor. Then I find out the clinic doesn't even take insurance for sports physicals and I had to pay the $50 out of pocket right then and there. What kind of BS is that? They take insurance for other things though...
  14. Dear winter: That is all. Sorry, just wanted to get that out of the way early.
  15. I think the only people that really know how insurance works are the people in the insurance industry. The rest of us just muddle along the best we can.
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 03:46 PM) Putting them out and putting them out and turning them on right away are two different things. I put mine out the week before thanksgiving but don't turn them on until thanksgiving night. I put mine up last weekend. The cord is just hanging by my fence waiting to be plugged in a week from now. Looking at the weather forecasts, I'm glad I did it early. Although my wife has a bunch of blow-up decorations that she wants me to put out as well. Those could be a PITA.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 09:41 AM) I think we're going to end up a shade over $70k. That's about how much my entire house is worth. Now I'm sad.
  18. I'm on an every-other-week kick here lately. One week I do pretty good, the next week I bowl like s***. This week was my awful week. First two games I was a good 20 pins under my average. Kept getting splits. Left lane I was pretty good. Right lane I couldn't throw a strike to save my life. In the last game I finally started using a different ball on the right lane only. Started out with five in a row and then fell off. Ended up with a 198.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 17, 2015 -> 02:47 PM) In the other you have a group bringing up all of the times they have been intimidated or treated poorly and the response is to stop complaining and that's not happening and you are wrong. I don't think anyone has said that. The response is more like if you have a problem with the way you were treated, the remedy is not to go into a library and scream "f*** you white people" at students that had nothing with the situation.
  20. There is something else I've noticed as well. Dine-in pizza joints simply do not exist anymore. At least any around me. They are all carry-out/delivery only. We used to have a Pizza Hut that had a nice dining room and we would go there all the time. It closed years ago and moved to a different location that is only carry-out/delivery. We also had a Godfather's pizza many years ago. There are a few Italian restaurants around here that happen to serve pizza, but none of the old-school pizza joints anymore. All the chain restaurants are the same. Papa John's, Little Ceasars, Dominos... Carry out or delivery only. We do have one local place that is a buffet style. That's about as close as we get.
  21. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 03:40 PM) You pay a delivery fee because you're being provide a service. Delivery is an incredible luxury. It's a shame people don't appreciate it. I don't think people understand how small of margins restaurants run under. Even very successful restaurants aren't raking in cash like people assume. That's why servers aren't paid much. The delivery fee was started by the national chains.
  22. I use the "view new posts" button so it doesn't matter to me where the threads are located.
  23. I've never quite understood the point of the delivery charge in the first place. All it does is pad the owner's pockets, confuse the consumers and cause the drivers to not get tipped. I very rarely order pizza and when I do, I usually just go pick it up myself. That way I can get it in 15-20 mins rather than waiting 45 mins for delivery.
  24. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 12:28 PM) How did you get screwed? Unless it's an upscale place, usually added gratuity is pretty meager like 15-18% pre tax. Very often toddlers come in, don't get any food from the restaurant but leave the table and surrounding area an absolute mess that takes time to clean up. Kids make me no money but they inhibit me from providing the other tables better service. I am not complaining just contextualizing from the inside. I'm sorry but if they aren't ordering from the menu (or in my case even eating solid food yet) you don't get to include them in the count for auto gratuity. Honestly though, that was really the last straw in a horrible dining experience. That was nearly 18 years ago and we haven't been back since. We've since doubled down on that when the owner of the restaurant tried to get my wife in trouble at her job. We tell everyone we know our experiences and advise them to never go there.
  25. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 09:16 AM) Usually thats for large groups, if its automatic somewhere else for individuals, thats their attempt at a "no tipping" model. I understand that. But the first time I got burned it was with 4 adults, a 2-year-old and a 6 month old in a baby carrier. The minimum amount for the auto gratuity to kick in was 6. So they included the kids. Including the one that the waitress literally did not have to serve. This was after they were out of almost every single thing we tried to order and the waitress was overheard complaining about us to another table. The second time was a place we had been to a few times before with a large group. The waitresses even got to know us. The first few times we weren't charged auto gratuity and we all left what we thought were reasonable tips. Then suddenly the last time we went there and had the same waitress, she tacked it on. The hostess said it was their discretion of when and when not to include it. Kind of a slap in the face IMO. Sorry, I didn't like the amount you left me the last time you were here, so I'm going to force you to pay this amount instead. Well guess what, now you won't get ANY of our money.
