  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 23, 2012 -> 12:11 PM) The same guy is still insisting Fielder is done. MLBInsideNews Scott Swaim Fielder to be in DC tonight to finalize deal. He might be right, but man go read his timeline from start to finish. He's wrong plenty of the time.
  2. Hawk actually being realistic and somewhat critical? Weird. He'll be back to the normal, awful, embarrasment of an announcer soon enough I'm sure.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 23, 2012 -> 12:58 AM) Are you guys saying you are glad Mark is gone? How could anybody take that position? I'm glad the Sox extended Danks instead of Mark.
  4. JimBowdenESPNxm JIM BOWDEN The Nationals continue to work on a deal for Prince Fielder...BUT THERE IS NO DEAL repeat NO DEAL as of tonight according to sources 38 seconds ago Favorite Retweet Reply
  5. QUOTE (daggins @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) How long do you think KW can milk that particular cow? It is not an unfair assessment to say he has spent the last 5 years or so running the Sox into the ground. Agreed. I love Kenny for bringing us a World Series in 2005, but now what have you done for me lately?
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) At least Kyle Williams is trending on twitter, he's popular. I'm amused watching Twitter come to the realization that Kyle is Kenny's son. It's getting brutal.
  7. Maybe we get an angry Kenny Williams trade tomorrow.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 08:20 PM) Gac is a Brave now. He's also a 25 year old that hasn't even touched AA yet.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 07:52 PM) Eduardo Escobar and Tyler Kuhn make more sense than any of the four you said. Osvaldo Martinez too. Though I don't see Alexei being moved unless Kenny decides to do a full-on blow this s*** up rebuild. At this point in time I feel Kenny is standing pat. Though I hope Floyd is moved, at least at the deadline when the Sox are out of it.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 07:35 PM) Basically, we'd just be saving $20 million total on Rios's deal and giving up Floyd to do so. No thanks. Plus 3 or 4 prospects he said. Boston wouldn't even consider it. It's asinine.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 07:23 PM) Boston has nothing that would make me willing to take on that. Huh? You wouldn't take on $16 million of contracts that expire after this season to dump Rios? Boston is the team that would be way averse to such a deal.
  12. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 07:10 PM) Floyd is proven in the AL. Oswalt is not. Floyd would cost more in terms of added prospects. Yep. He's younger, less of an injury risk, and going to give you workhorse innings. I hope someone trades for him with a decent prospect package.
  13. jonmorosi Jon Morosi Source: #RedSox are not the only team on Roy Oswalt right now. But they are showing serious interest. 2 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 06:04 PM) Well if it made sense, then Phil Rogers wouldn't have said it Pretty much. I'm most amused by Red Sox sites/commenters taking his speculative tweet as a legitimate option.
  15. Phil Rogers proposes the Sox trade Floyd + Alexei to Boston. Which makes no sense considering Boston just dumped Scutaro for almost nothing because of monetary issues.
  16. jcrasnick Jerry Crasnick The Scutaro trade frees up some $$ for #RedSox to make an "aggressive bid'' for Roy Oswalt, said a baseball source 42 seconds ago Favorite Retweet Reply
  17. alexspeier Alex Speier Obviously, moving Scutaro's $6M would liberate resources for #redsox to pursue starters. Oswalt and Floyd (among others) have been on radar 35 seconds ago Favorite Retweet Reply
  18. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) Per MLBTradeRumors Rockies close to acquiring Scutaro. Bidding war between Jays and Red Sox for Floyd? I really hope so, but I bet the Sawx are going after Oswalt.
  19. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 11:41 AM) I am unfamiliar with their farm system. Who do they have that we can make a difference for us in the near future? Probably not many that would help in the near future. Maybe Middlebrooks. Most of their guys are a year or more away. I'd wager guys like Workman, Ranaudo, and Brentz are players Kenny would like. Maybe Jacobs. Though it shouldn't matter much. Kenny can't be picky about only getting AAA guys. He needs solid prospects period.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 11:38 AM) And that's what you hope for. If the Sox trade Gavin they're all out anyways, pick up some of the money and hope to get overwhelmed with a prospect package... Pretty much. Who cares if they pick up a portion of the contract? It will help them in their rebuilding effort. The Sox would be even further out if they trade Gavin, so it hardly matters if they are "helping" Boston win.

  22. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 05:22 PM) Talk about a team that doesn't have clear direction right now... I'd imagine they are trying to move salary in order to sign Oswalt. Not sure who they would have had playing SS though. Aviles? Iglesias with his no offense?
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 05:15 PM) I'm glad Ozzie is going to speak some more. I hope he makes Jerry and the front office look so bad. I mean grown people are acting like Ozzie was welcome back one more year, the final year of his contract, etc., cause that was the company line and they say Ozzie "quit" with two games left with the Sox 29 games out of first place. I've maintained all along KW won this war. So what if Ozzie technically "quit" with 1-2 days to go, to take a much better job w/job security? Please. The 2 hated each other. Kenny won. Case closed. Speak, Ozzie. I want to hear more about this. p.s. The difference between the Ozzie lovers and haters IMO is we lovers don't give a f*** what Ozzie says publicly. The haters tend to look at all his sentences (of which there are a zillion) and study them religiously. I took Ozzie's statements as great theatre, great fun. Many of you took them and got mad. This is just awful.
  24. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 04:37 PM) Rockies close to acquiring Scutaro from the Red Sox. And now talks are dying supposedly. Maybe the Red Sox now realized they need a SS worthy of starting?
