  1. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 06:10 PM) Not like the Sox in the last ten years. They can't draft a position player to save their lives. Ravelo. Hitting around .350 in AA.
  2. Matt Cooper did it again. 11th save, 2.2 innings, no hits, 6 K's.
  3. QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 08:17 PM) Apologies to those who already saw this in the trade deadline deals. We are now in the waiver period where teams can block waivers/trades at the risk of being given contracts outright. Normally, low value or high priced people(bad contracts) can get through. Once through waivers, trades can be worked out as long as the traded players have also cleared waivers or are not on the 40 man roster. Typically, role player goes for couple A ballers who prob won't pan out. My deal still works if we feel we can go for it but I was not willing to give up any prospect of value. I thought SD had to sell or will have to with losses as well as we wouldn't if we lose 5 in a row. This is dollars Matt Kemp no particular R/L splits 30 yrs old , cooling off but OPS.987 last mos to RF. Avi platoons with LaRoche and Avi can sub in if wakes up. John Danks to SD. Big ballpark favors his pitching and he had sub 3.00 ERA vs NL. E Johnson comes up and replaces Danks. Our reasoning, add a bat and possible Johnson out performs Danks. SD reasoning Kemp owed 87 million after this year over 4 yrs. Dodgers paying 3.75 per or 14 million….73 remain …..Danks just short of 16…57 remain over four years or about 14.25 per. After 2016, LaRoche contract up Kemp could DH. Make no mistake, I think Kemps last couple years might not be pretty so the fight is over what SD kicks in in salary relief. If you get Dodgers money and SD kicks in 2 the first two years and 4-5 the next two maybe it works. From our point of view, I like it. I can't get my arms around it from Pad's point of view. Trouble is, San Diego is now on a winning streak, partly because of Kemp's improved play.
  4. Seems like there are more intriguing prospects in the low minors than most years.
  5. Too bad we could not have traded him for Rangel Ravelo.
  6. Matt Cooper did it again for Kanny. He had a great July: 12 innings, 6 hits, 23 K's.
  7. Perez might have leap-frogged over Alfaro, who, for some reason is on the Sox Top 30 list.

QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 07:29 AM) you know, i agree. i can almost sense that the debate was raging and someone had to make a call. that is the owners. but not trading is not everything, the non decision was a great lost of opportunity and may have hurt the rebuilding. no question there.
  9. I'm not for sending him down, but Rodon was lousy last night. Hawk tried to make excuses because of a missed called strike three, but I'm not buying it. His control/command/location is awful.
  10. Announced attendance was just a little over 30,000. I thought it would be more. 30,359.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) 100% wrong. The fact that you referenced the White Flag trade is exactly why they didn't trade Jeff Samardjiza. Sox fans are STILL bringing that up after almost 20 years. Correct. The media killed the Sox after that trade. Management was intimidated. Ironically, they wanted to trade Robin, too, but backed off, and he went the free agent route after that season.
  12. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 01:48 PM) My interview with Billy: http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/rwas/in...=11&id=1546 Mark Excellent. Thanks.
  13. He came to Sox in 1949 for an obscure catcher named Aaron Robinson. Perhaps the greatest Sox trade ever. His big disappointment was not playing in the 1959 World Series; never understood Al Lopez' logic on that one. He did appear in 1962 WS with Giants. Class act.
  14. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 01:03 AM) Today is the 5 year anniversary of the Sox inexplicably throwing in Holmberg on the Hudson-Edwin Jackson deal. I know this because Facebook "reminded" me of how outraged I was over the deal at the time. I was with you.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 03:36 PM) Red Sox fans are responding to that tweet saying "Pablo Sandoval for the Quintana guy from last night!" I would not trade Beckham for Sandoval.
  16. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) i tried to look him up in the T30 for the sox prospect in miilb. is he a rated prospect?? No, but he probably should be, since Sox have a couple top rated prospects hitting below .200. Clark has to be getting someone's attention. Another guy who has pitched really well is Zach Phillips at Charlotte.
  17. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 02:19 PM) Davidson, Montas, Danish, and Anderson for Longoria Longoria having sub-par season. There are two recent articles in FL papers about him: "What's wrong with Longoria" He says he doesn't know but it feels like he has never played before. Unquote.
  18. Castro leads the majors in calories expended via gum chewing. Can't stand him.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 03:06 PM) If anyone is wondering, I have a Pages document on my laptop of every single move during Rick Hahn's tenure as GM of the Sox. Can you tell me his future moves?
  20. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 05:34 AM) Adams may be the top pitching prospect in the system. He's not going to be used in a trade for Cargo. Tyler Danish is a more likely, and reasonable, price to pay. Danish, Thompson, and a low level guy would be a good offer. Also, I don't get why people are so hot to trade a 24 year old Avisail Garcia who is completing his first full year in MLB. He's the kind of player you keep. You're probably right. I'm not really sure who Sox value more, Adams or Danish. It might not take either one. Maybe one or two lower ranked pitching prospects at either Kanny or W-S would do it. Again, Rockies want salary relief and young pitching prospects.
