8/27 Sox ( Rodon) vs. Mariners (Elias)
oldsox replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in 2015 Season in Review
Two singles up the middle, Elias thinks he has to hit him. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 07:41 AM) ????? What I meant was, since Sox signed him he has played two years at AZL Rookie League; Sox have 5 years of controlling him, after which they either add him to the 40 man roster or risk losing him to the draft, and two years are gone, and he will not only lose the remaining few weeks in the season, but will probably have to lay off instructional league ball or whatever else the team had planned for him. I thought it was a fairly rational thought.
-
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 03:33 PM) Not really he'll be 19 And his 5 year control clock will be 2 years old.

Reyes gets salary of Mid 20's for 2016-17. Per year. He actually gets more than Tulo the next 2 + seasons. Another testimonial to the intelligence of GM's across the board. I don't remember the name of the Mets GM who gave Reyes that deal. But now Reyes wants out of Colorado because he wants to play for a winner.

QUOTE (beautox @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 07:28 PM) wasn't the biggest fan of the trade looks worse with how bassit is developing plus the depth in semien and phegley and lets not forget Ravelo. Lets get the QO and move on. we need a C 3b and move beyond laroche. looking forward to what we might have in our youth. But, we got Ynoa. Hahn held out for him.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 03:23 PM) Except he probably is about 19 in terms of baseball development Not from his stats. Much higher.

8-14-15 Cubs vs Sox 3:10CDT (Hendricks vs Samardzija)

Bad day for Saladino. That double play in first really hurt, and then this strikeout. -
Jose Reyes cleared waivers for Rockettes. Yanks rumored to be interested.

What happened to Matt Cooper?

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 11:08 AM) So when is it ok for a manager to argue and when is it not ok? Mike was doing his job, that's not bush league to me. If he was out of line then the ump should have ran him, that's on the umpire, not on Scioscia. But it's baseball and some player is always crying about some type of unwritten rule. Mike came out after the final decision was made. So go back to the dugout and do your job. Ump should have run him, agreed. He was out there just to be a nuisance. That makes it Bush. I was hoping Flowers would pinch his head off.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 08:29 AM) Why wouldn't Mike try to mess with the pitcher a bit if he could? That's not Bush league, it's just smart imo. No one said it wasn't smart. But it is Bush League.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 09:20 PM) Maiker Feliz playing for Az Sox now Is it wise to bring him up now? Correct me if I am wrong here. We sign a guy out of high school or less, we control him for 5 years in the minors before we either add him to the 40 man roster or risk losing him in the draft. Bringing him up now means that five year clock is now running, so we lose a year of control all for having him on the AZL roster for 15 games or so.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 10:39 AM) Following Alvarez kind of reminds me of following Aaron Miles. Who had a decent major league career, by the way.

Well, it's that time of year again....2015 edition

If Sox offer Shark a QO ($16 Millionish), will he take it as a one year deal? -
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 02:37 AM) It's there's one skill we have abundance of in the system, it's definitely speed. Can you imagine if we end up with Alvarez at 3B, Anderson at SS l, Micah at 2B, Engel at CF, and May at LF. All those guys have the chance to steal 40 bases a year! Go-Go White Sox will return.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:40 AM) I just wish that they'd find a way to actually develop hitters in their system. Every 2015 position player outside of 2B is from another system or from Cuba. Rangel Ravelo is a recent one. -
What will Sox do with Adrian Nieto? BA down to .203.

Top 30 White Sox Prospects - Midseason 2015
oldsox replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 11:17 AM) Any opinions on Matt Heidenreich ? I know he's been in the system for a while and is old for the league he's in (A) but he's put together a nice season. Thinking that he starts next year in AA and if he puts together another solid year he gets into the top 30 . Maybe not great stuff but pretty good command ? Will Sox put him on the 40 man roster? If not, he's possibly gone. I bet NSS will have a thread about that in a month or two. -
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 09:30 AM) I think CarGo is very likely to slide through waivers. Didn't really see any rumors connecting us to him, but I still think he's a good fit for us. Whether the Rockies even want to move CarGo at this point remains to be seen, as all good young players & prospects on the 40 man will be out of play. Cargo still hot; hit a game winning grand slammer last night (Friday 8/7). They won't give him away.

QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 08:51 PM) I've never seen a team so mentally unprepared. Its a joke. Particularly at start of the season. A little bit better now, not enough.
-
Not sure of the rule on that ground rule double by Trayce. I think that ball hit the left fielder before it bounced into the stands. Should be two bases from there.
-
If Sox need a low priced manager next year, try Skinner from Charlotte. He's paid his dues.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 07:31 PM) Awful relay throw home by Sanchez. His defense has gotten worse as his offense has improved. Sanchez or Alexi making that high throw home?
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 07:31 AM) Who do you think, specifically, should get three starting slots in Charlotte? Because I see 2, max, from AA that might be ready - Jaye and Montas. I'd agree that Jaye should come up. Montas maybe too. But the other thing is, BHAM is in a playoff race, and the club tends to like keeping key guys around that as the season comes to a close. Okay. Cut Penny, promote Jaye. Bring someone up to Birmingham from W-S and so on. Decisions for Ynoa and Tago have to be made this off season. I say get them as many quality innings as possible.
-
Sox have 3 vet starters at Charlotte: Noesi, Penny, and Drabek. They are eating up innings that could go elsewhere, even though there is little chance of them getting promoted to White Sox. Possible exception is Drabek. With all the young pitchers throughout the minor league system, I see no reason why these three are taking a regular turn, since so many young pitchers could use the innings.
