Gammons thinks Shark gets QO
I can't remember the timing on the QO and the beginning of the free agency signing period. Do they overlap?

Milo Hamilton R.I.P.
Good stuff, Lip Man.

Avasail Garcia
My Avisail Garcia glass is half full. This is his first complete season in the bigs. I say he will improve a lot in 2017.

Sox have tried to sign Samardzija to a long term deal
QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 12, 2015 -> 09:30 AM) as you, DA and Lip have stated, i will go 1 further and add. yes the offer was on the table and maybe until a 1/4 of the season in. however, this team has a real bad fundamentally group of pro players and that should be address in spring training. next the savings alone on shark salary, if he took the extension is nice. it is better than spending that money and getting that results. lastly and i think this should be a soxfest question when the fans goes and have a Q/A sessions with the FO. do they the FO really expect the fans to step up and pay for season tickets when this is the final product??? then to have the owners comes out and criticize the fan based who did show up and pay for season tickets, yet at the same time calling out the rest of the fan based. would they, as they have mention many times over are/were fans in their young days, pay for this kind of performance??? yes

WTF is Robin leaving Putnam in there?

Abreu Seeking To Match Pujols' Record
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 07:53 PM) He came up at age 21. Bypassed both AA and AAA, IIRC.

My/Your Off Season Plan
Avi still has a chance to be a really good player. This is his first complete season of ML ball. He'll get better next year (I hope). He already looks better than he did 4-5 months ago; power is increasing, too. Of course, I don't have any stats to back this up, just my perception.

My/Your Off Season Plan
If Sox make Trayce the full time CF, they'll find out quickly if he can hit a steady diet of breaking stuff. I have my doubts. As well as he has played, this is the same guy who hit .260ish at Charlotte and was worse last year in AA. Eaton would be much more effective in LF. Then, you have to figure out what to do with Melky. Shark is a nightmare waiting to get worse. I keep thinking that he will continue pitching the same way, he will get the QO and eventually take it because no one else wants him, and next year he makes twice what Sale makes and 3 times what Q makes, and he gets worse, not better. I'm still positive, of course/

Ventura "absolutely" wants to manage White Sox next season
Back in the day, the two best third basemen arguably were Robin and Matt Williams. Now Matt is the worst manager in majors, Robin certainly in lowest quartile.

9/9/15- Cleveland @ Sox- 7:10 PM CT
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) Carlos Sanchez just isn't a big league hitter. Needs to find a way to avoid so many weak ground balls Stop trying to pull outside pitches.

Still have Ynoa. Hahn would not have made the trade without Ynoa.

Ventura "absolutely" wants to manage White Sox next season
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 01:44 PM) Yeah they are going to have to extend him. He's not going to manage on a one-year deal. Why not? Are you really saying that if Sox don't offer an extension to Robin, he will walk away?

Alexei
$10 MM is too much for Alexi in 2016. He says he wants to stay; offer him 3-4 large, see what happens. If he is not interested, look elsewhere, including Saladino for 1 year.

Don't Take These Final Games For Granted
It's still a lot more interesting watching them play good, winning baseball. Not much difference between pick # 15 or 11.

Importance of a Top Draft Pick
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 06:55 PM) If you don't believe your team has good scouting and developing like it really matters. Drafting the same position over and over doesn't work. Ask Matt Millen. Look at some of the misses on position players. Kenny seemed to like multi sport athletes. They were athletes but not baseball players. If the Sox were an NFL team they would draft every guy who looks good at the combine. They would get receivers who run a 4.3 but poor hands and bad at running routes. Then they think they can fix those deficiencies when you really can't at that level of performance. They need better scouts and coaches. LMAO.

Importance of a Top Draft Pick
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 10:12 AM) While the last sentence may be true, the rest of this post wholesale ignores the past few years of history. You have a different crowd making most of the decisions now, and you can see in who they've drafted that their style has changed noticeably. Same head scout Laumann for several years until a few months ago.....

Trey Michalczewski
QUOTE (beautox @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 10:33 AM) Hes only 20 and a switch hitter on top of that. Power is usually the last tool to develop its even more pronounced in switch hitters. I think the sox will be aggressive and push him to AA next year. Hes also more of a natural hitter from the right side. That's the way it was for Arenado. And, I think RBI is an important stat. It has something to do with coming through with men on base. It's a skill. Arenado had it in low minors, also.

Mike Olt dfa'd by Cubs, claimed by White Sox
Fields was a much better hitter, majors or minors. Especially minors. Better football player, too.

9/6 Games

Samardzija/Cooper
QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 12:32 PM) I think cooper needs to go more than Williams or Hahn. You have a point, for sure. Still, if just one of the three had to go, I would vote for Kenny.

9/7 vs Cleveland Indians
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 03:10 PM) The Indians logo on the sleeve is kind of offensive. I'd think it's way worse than Washington's Redskins. You don't hear as much about Cleveland needing to get rid of Chief Wahoo. That's because the Cleveland logo is not as offensive as the Washington team name.

Could White Sox trade some pitching to fill other areas in offseason
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 02:09 PM) Cespedes has been one of the premier defensive LF (according to uzr) every year but 2012. The OBP is low but he has hit 20+ homers and doubles every year since he entered the league. I think he profiles as a .275/.320/.480 guy in the Cell with 25 homers/doubles and 10+ steals. I think he has a rep as a bad defender for some reason but stats prove he is a very good outfielder. "Prove" is wrong word. They don't prove a thing in this case.
