Samardzija Trade Packages
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 01:00 AM) The Yankees would be s good trade partner, since they do have some high upside position players but they're further down the line in their development. How about this: Shark to the Yankees for Dermis Garcia (17yo 3B), Miguel Flames (17yo C) and Jorge Mateo (MIF 19yo). The center in this deal would Dermis Garcia, who was the Yankees top July 2nd signing in terms of price last year at $3M and he profiles as a guy who can hit 30 homers a year and he has elite bat speed. He was signed as a shortstop but he was listed at 6'3 and 200lbs and as he fills out expect his long term home to be on the corners, Kiley McDaniel mentions third, first and left being possibilities. He did put on some extra weight, which is to be expected for a LA prospect coming to America but expect that calm down as he enters a major league training program. His swing reminds me of Alex Rodriguez and the amount of potential he has is unreal, especially with the bat. None of these guys have hit the states yet, right? Part of me still thinks that Sox will sign Shark. I also wonder if they are reluctant to pay Shark a bunch since that would move his salary way past Sale's?? But then, WTF did they think when they traded for him last winter?

Toronto Scouts in attendance tonight
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) I mean, out of all the things we need, pitching isnt my first choice. Our offensive and defensive games are horrific. I honestly believe Sale/Q/Fulmer/Rodon is a good enough core in 2 years to be a serious contender. Q is headed South IMO. Just look at his record. He is a mediocre big league starter, which is why he won't get much in a trade. Rodon still walks too many, too often behind in the count.......

Who gets moved from the bullpen?
Putnam has one of the best sinkers in the game. Keep him, trade Duke.

Toronto Scouts in attendance tonight
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 08:29 PM) Get Putnam out there now for the scouts. I think Toronto is looking for relief help. Why are you so anxious to get rid of Putnam? Not going to get a lot for him, why not keep him?

Crazy Trade Deadline Predictions
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) Any chance Pittsburgh would trade their competitive balance pick in return for Ramirez? I'd take that deal for the White Sox in a heartbeat. Those picks are released today. Pitt's substitute infielder of the day yesterday was hitless. They'll start hitting the panic button pretty soon. Doesn't mean they will pursue either Alexi or Gordo, but we can hope.

Future of the Middle IF
If the Sox brass thinks Saladino is the answer at short, and that won't be determined at least through spring training next year, then you will start seeing Anderson getting time at third base next year (and maybe yet this year).

There's a game tonight, right? Sox vs Cards
The 8th Wonder of the World is now John Danks.

Crazy Trade Deadline Predictions
All of this Arenado talk is silly. Not going anywhere. Still an interesting set of circumstances. This is an example of perhaps bringing him up too early in his rookie year (2013). Regardless, he is up for arbitration next year and his agent is Scott (Let me turn you over) Boras. He is going to get a major contract out of the Rockies and the Rox will not trade Tulo. I really think they want to trade Cargo for pitching. Plus they have other cost controlled options in the outfield. Cargo will be available, I am sort of certain.

abreu
Abreu started swinging at pitches outside the strike zone. Bad idea. He hit a couple ball hard last night (Tuesday). He's probably wondering why he picked the White Sox.
-
Cards @ Sox
Meanwhile, Aaron Nola pitching for Phillie and looking very good.
-
Cards @ Sox
Rodon, don't walk anyone.

7/20 Games
And, another solid outing by Matt Cooper. Something like 92 K's in 67 innings in 2014-15.

Why Micah Johnson should not be moved to the outfield
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 06:30 PM) Isn't this just following the same path Johnson's always taken? Go to one level and do solid, not great. Repeat the level and dominate. Offensively, he has little left to prove in AAA. Absolutely true about Micah. He had to adjust to both AA and AAA. Maybe even High A, can't remember. Bodes well for 2016.

7/19 Games- Adams Promoted
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 10:08 AM) He also was said to make some adjustments and start buying into what the org was saying pretty recently (based upon Wil's interview with Bautista). I'd say that the arrows are pointed up with Adams and that is a good thing, given how highly everyone thought of him in the off-season. Who do you think is the better prospect, Danish or Adams?

7/19 Games- Adams Promoted
QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 07:41 AM) i hope you can give me some latitude here and don't look upon what i am about to write as being a jerk. this is the problem in general. if one just looks at the stats and use that as the end of all discussion as a final piece of a discussion, then that is a mistake. however in this state of development, maybe this is the perfect time to say, he finally got it. so which is it?? people who are way smarter than i will need to figure this out, and i guess that would be employed in the sox org. I don't think so.

SoxNet: What To Do With Alexei Ramirez
It's too it has to end this way, because Alexi has had a pretty good career with Sox, but if he is still here next year, there will be more complaining about him, because he will probably be worse, not better in 2016.

Trade Deadline Thread
I hear that Rick and Kenny just left for a 2 week vacation together.

White Sox call up Tyler Saladino
QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 07:57 PM) Pirates may have just lost their shortstop. I don't imagine Alexei'd bring back a whole lot more than salary relief. I saw that injury. I was thinking Beckham; either one.
-
Gillaspie DFA'd; Albers called up
I think you're right. Conor was brought up his first year in Pro Ball, so he had to be optioned every year after that.
-
Gillaspie DFA'd; Albers called up
Still don't see why they didn't option him to Charlotte... Not that they need him or anything like that, but you never know. They have the space on the 40 man.

White Sox call up Tyler Saladino
QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 07:30 AM) i am a little confuse on Saladino and his hitting. in the past, in the minors, he really was an inconsistent hitter. last yr being the only yr he hit over 300+. this yr in the minors, he was hitting 250+. now he is hitting 300+/-. so what kind of hitting can i expect to see if the continues to stay up??? .281.
