  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 09:35 PM) I think that everyone who has posted in this thread should be in a video game. The Adventures Of SoxTalk? First Mission: Get out from under the bus
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 09:56 PM) No Balta, that is not my counterpoint. My counterpoint is that when the guy sees the court, he is incredibly selfish and never tries to play within a system, whatever system he has been in. Tyrus is the king of ill advised shots at crucial moments. He has never been a stop and pop player, yet thats what he always tries to be. His shot has never been consistent enough for him to get the ball at the top of the key and try and drain a 18-20 footer without even considering passing the ball to another player, which is what gets him benched nearly all the time. His defense is top notch, I love watching him swat away shots down low, but when it comes to him playing within an offense, he just never has gotten it. He has never earned more playing time, he has squandered it. There have been numerous times where I've yelled at the TV watching Tyrus try to drain a 20 footer when he could easily go right up to the basket.
  3. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 09:57 PM) Does that statement hold double meaning? He's Beckham, so he's gonna come in fifth?
  4. How much does NO like Peyton now? Is he like, Mega-God?
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 07:56 PM) After the moves they made last offseason, I think he'd fit in Detroit too. But that team's a mess anyway. I was thinking Detroit, but part of me would like to think Joe Dumars wouldn't put up with this.
  6. Well, I can't think of anything off the top of my head, so I'll say the first half of the perfect game. It's a miracle I wasn't pulled over getting home.
  7. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 01:08 PM) i guess i didn't campaign hard enough You're currently in fifth. That's to be expected with that name.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 07:46 PM) He is an unmotivated Zach Randolph. He can't play a team game, and he thinks he should be the center of attention. He can't handle playing a role on a good team. The Clippers would be a great place for him. The Clippers would be horrible. He'd play behind Griffin and Kaman, and they could actually become really good with a healthy, lived up to hype Griffin. I can't really see anyone other than the Knicks or Warriors.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 11:45 AM) Honestly, how many here haven't wanted to unleash a profanity-laden rant at VDN several times in the past 1.5 years? We're fans, we don't get paid by the organization. I think the same is true about Ozzie. If someone like Tyrus cussed out Ozzie, he'd be in a grave under the court floor right now. We'd all agree that Tyrus has the talent to be a top power forward in the league. Some say give him to an experienced coach, but would Phil or Sloan put up with him? God no. The only teams I can really see him succeeding with are teams like Golden State or the Knicks.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 11:47 AM) Strasbourg money isn't that scary; his contract wound up being fairly reasonable for that level of draft pick. The $50 million he was talking about was scary. And someone said it before, Harper has done a lot to reach the majors early. Don't know if he'd pass up on the bigs over money, when he'd still be getting paid.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 08:26 AM) Got the PSOM in the mail on Friday, with a full writeup on Heavy Rain. This is going to be one of the best games of all time. Heavy Rain Preview I know we've spoken about it before, but everytime I hear something new about this game it gets me more amped. I'm excited about Heavy Rain, but I'm still a bit skeptical. But you're right, if executed well, it'll be a masterpiece. Also, my friend recently talked me into playing a game that we used to play, and he now was able to buy. He keeps telling me to promote it, so if anyone likes free text-based-RTS games, check it out.
  12. QUOTE (chisoxt @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 06:33 AM) Not to hijack the thread, but isn't it curious that with all those years of winning, the Red Sox have a better farm system than ours. I guess we can't use the excuse that we don't get enough top draft picks. Duane Shaffer really sucked. Just look at the past 3 #1's compared to Shaffers. Shaffers: Ruffcorn, Pearson, Christman, Johnson, Liefer, Seay, Dellaero, Wells, Stumm, Ginter, Borchard, Ring, Anderson, Fields, Broadway, McCulloch. Brian Anderson is the most productive of all those picks. Then Fields. Post Shaffer: Poreda, Beckham, Mitchell There's 3 guys that all project to be worlds better than the monstrosity of our 1991-2006 drafts.
  13. http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/yb/140979634 Nevermind. I stopped seeing Tyrus' side of the argument. I was for Noah's suspension because that is inexcusable. If this we're another profession where someone wasn't being given the best opportunities by their boss, and they cussed them out, they'd be fired. Edit: Sam Smith was present, so its more reliable.
  14. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 11:07 PM) Can someone enlighten me to why Ranger is running away with this one? I'm not sure I recall anything he's written. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...5263&st=855 That page onward is why I voted for him. Seriously, it was both an insightful read and hilarious.
  15. My friend said if Harper fell to us, you only take him if he doesn't catch. Because we have AJ and Flowers
  16. QUOTE (T R U @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 01:54 PM) Is it just me, or does anyone think this isnt going to be very hard for some gamers out there... I pitched a perfect season with Buehrle in a 2K game, I think 2k6. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 05:21 PM) <!--quoteo(post=2081909:date=Feb 6, 2010 -> 01:39 PM:name=rowandrules83)-->QUOTE (rowandrules83 @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) <!--quotec-->Not sure if this has been posted, but this is pretty cool. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if it will make me buy MLB 2K10 instead of The Show. http://www.cnbc.com/id/35124184/ Personally, I'll be sticking with the superior product. Some marketing gimmick that'll be over 3 hours after launch isn't quite enough to convert me. Video Games | MLB 10: The Show | Joe Mauer Gameplay HD XBox 360 | Playstation 3 | Nintendo Wii That game looks real nice right now, and it says my last name right, as opposed to Mark Sha-py-ro's pronunciation.
  17. Good win. Richard getting 7 rebounds was a nice suprise.
  18. A High Schooler? It'd be intriguing if we took one in the first round. Also, I would think the Sox would get a pitcher, due to the lack of depth, but who knows.
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 05:33 PM) I saw some Cubs fans complaining about how New Comiskey was financed with public money and how Jerry is being a hypocrite, honestly I fail to see how that's the same thing. Yeah, it pissed a lot of people off at the time, but that investment's probably paid for itself a couple of times over by now, and plus it's an ACTUAL stadium, not a spring training facility. They're just b****ing for the sake of finding fault. I think its a bit different because it's not making fans of every team in the AL increase their tickets to pay for it, and stadiums are a lot more costly than ST facilities (at least, I'd think so). But also, this would damage all other teams spring training attendance. Part of the fun of ST is going to see a baseball game for cheap. You don't pay ballpark prices, but depending on how much Cubs would want to charge, you could be (and to see essentially scrimmages). So then, you'd only have the Cubs fans (supposedly) go to these games. Wait, thats their plan. Make every Cubs game a home game!
  20. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) If the Knicks offered a future 1st and the expiring contract of Duhon for TT, would you take that? If I got no other (blockbuster) offers at the deadline, probably, but I'd rather Harrington (as was speculated earlier this year) as they'd need a forward and Duhon would be purely a bench player in what would be a recreation of our Guard Logjam from a few years ago that sent Duhon out.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 07:15 PM) I hear what you're saying. Problem is...in the NBA, if you want to be an effective coach, you can't just get sick of those type of players, you have to develop them. Want a great example? Look how Phil Jackson has taken Kobe Bryant from being a total crybaby in 2003-2004 to being an iceman today. Look how many talented guys have languished with crappy coaching and then snapped out of it when they got out of there. Zach Randolph, Jamal Crawford come to mind as examples just from this year. By the time the 3rd straight coach was responding to every situation, whether I was playing well or not, by benching me, I'd be pretty sick of it too. Fair enough. I guess its possible to see the argument from both sides. Also, that Richard dunk was exciting. I like the guy, with his Noah style hair and the fact that he was Noah's backup before, and if I remember right from the postseason, he hustles a lot. Edit: Noah's suit does not disappoint.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) With how the team has "worked with him" during his career...I don't blame him one bit for being detrimental to the team. I'd be detrimental to the team too if the team would rather lose games than play me. The problem has always seemed to be his work ethic. When 3 different coaches get sick of you, something is up.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 05:40 PM) Tyrus Thomas has been suspended for conduct determental to the team for the Bulls next game against Miami. Awesome. God I want to trade him. He's so me-first.
