Official 2009-2010 NBA Thread
So, with the All-Star starter announcements looming, heres the case for Rose and Noah. Rose: 1st in Scoring for East PG's (Not counting Arenas), 4th in Assists for East PG's (behind Rondo, Jennings, and Duhon), 3rd in Rebounding (behind Stuckey and Rondo). Noah: 2nd in Rebounds for East C's (behind Howard), 8th in Scoring (behind Lee, Lopez, Bargnani, Howard, Horford, O'Neal, and Perkins), 8th in blocks (behind Howard, Dalembert, Haywood, Perkins, Lopez, Bogut, Hibbert), and second in Assists (behind Lee). I see Rose getting in if Iverson elects not to play, although the coaches might pick him over Rondo if he keeps going at his current pace. Jennings, Duhon, and Stuckey present no competition. For Noah, you could make arguments for Lopez and Lee making it in before Noah, depending on how much Noah's rebounding is called into play, though averaging a double double could help his case.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 16, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) Go ahead and get it. You won't regret it. You can download old school games from the Wii store. The new Mario Cart and Mario Bros. are good, even Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort are solid. I understand this much, but whenever I play a Wii, I come away not liking it generally, though Mario Kart was indeed fun. The problem is, would NBA Jam, Mario Kart, and some old games be worth it?

White Sox agree to terms with Jenks and Quentin
QUOTE (beck72 @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 08:09 AM) I was thinking more than Gavin, yet less than Lester. The Sox aren't going to make Gavin's deal look like peanuts and cause a rift salary wise. This is what I'm thinking. Danks could have had Gavin's contract, so theres no point in him accepting that or less.

Fun Game: DRAW and DISCARD
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 11:21 AM) ANDRE ETHIER/Brent Lillibridge ADRIAN GONZALEZ/Brent Lillibridge - PK becomes DH These, if I could trade for either one with guys from the farm, I'd do it right now.

White Sox agree to terms with Jenks and Quentin
They still have arbitration years (Bobby 1, Quentin 2) even after signing the contract right? I think Quentin's holding out until he can demand more with another 2008 type season.

The DH Quandry
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 16, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) I'm seriously pissed we couldn't have outbid Texas on a one year contract for Vlad. I just don't understand why we couldn't overpay for a one year deal. Losing out on Matsui and Vlad is really a pain. At this point it probably will be Thome.

Which team did you have higher expectations for?
QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 16, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) If they get a lefty power bat at the deadline or before, they could easily get to the ALCS this year, IMO. As it stands right now, they could win the division, but I'm not sure how much farther without homefield advantage. These are my expectations for this year. However, in 2006, I thought we were on the verge of a dynasty. We had a rotation of All-Stars, the previous years best bullpen with our new flame throwing closer, a fearsome lineup with no holes other than Anderson, and exceptional defense aside from the corner OF spots. I still thought we'd win it all at the All-Star break, but we fell off and the Tigers took off. The Sun-Times backpage that said " Stop Believin' " with Thome, Dye, and Konerko standing at the top of the dug out is the most disappointing one I ever saw.

Suntimes Peavy Article
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 05:15 PM) Ehh, no. Not even close really. Ted Lyons, Ed Walsh, hell, Billy Pierce, and that's just the surface. I rarely count Walsh (dead ball era), I always imagined Buehrle would be just like Lyons stat wise if he played back in the day, and for Pierce, I don't really know why I've always counted Mark above him. Don't really count Black Jack, Hoyt, Fernandez, Bannister due to length with team, and while Black Jack and Hoyt we're good, they weren't as consistently good (has Buehrle had a bad season other than 06?)

KW responds to Guillen/Jenks spat
QUOTE (heirdog @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) If we can get a valuable piece or two from Jenks it will help offset the lost prospects the other trade I think will happen will cause: AGon! I love the prospect of trading for AGon, but the chances we give up anything big from anywhere but our farm system is slim. And whatever players we'd get for Jenks really wouldn't replace what we'd give up.

Suntimes Peavy Article
QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) I really hope Peavy pitches opening day. He's our ace. He deserves that honor. Best Pitcher in Team History vs. Guy Who's Started 3 Games, but Better Pitcher. I like Peavy, but Opening Day really should be given to the player who means the most to the franchise, on and off the field, and quite frankly, Buehrle is still the face of the franchise.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) EA Officially Announces ‘NBA Jam’ Vote for Andres Nocioni to be in NBA Jam! If the NBA Jam teams are to my liking, I may finally bite the bullet and get a Wii. This would be purely on childhood memories.. QUOTE (Real @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 01:45 PM) anybody have demons souls? love this game, currently lvl 106 I'm only in the 1-3 area right now (school started right when I started getting into it) but the game is indeed fantastic.

Suntimes Peavy Article
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 04:57 AM) For some reason, the first names that came to mind to my mind were Borchard, Fields and Brian Anderson. It has been pretty rare that someone failed miserably with the Sox and then lit it up for another playoff contender. We've had players excel at times for lesser teams (like Kip Wells with the Pirates) or Aardsma/Masset/MacDougal this season, but Aaron Rowand is one of the few position players to do well outside USCF. Didn't Anderson always want to go out and party when guys went home to there wives?

Best starters in A.L.?
QUOTE (since56 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 08:05 PM) I have high hopes for our starters as most of us do. I have some concerns however and I think we should not annoint them just yet. 1. Beurhle had a great start to his career and remains solid but no longer great. He is not a number one and has some off nights. He could easily go .500 say 11 and 11 2. Peavy seems like a great competitor with a Cy Young but has had injury problems. 3. I love danks but what is with this blister/circulation problem on his finger? Remember his outing against the Twins before he went on the DL? He went out of the rotation twice due to this didn't he? This seems like a mystery type of injury that could be chronic. 4. Floyd can't hold a runner on. So he uses the slide step and then injures his hip. He missed the end of the season with this injury. Leave his motion alone and A.J. has no chance to throw any one out change it and? 5. Garcia??? I'm hoping for the best but a reborn junkballer..... I am not predicting total collapse or gloom but lets be realistic, will these guys prove to be the best staff in the A.L.? They might, I hope so. 1. Buehrle's actually been working with Coop this offseason to strengthen his arm, so he can keep pitching stellar like he does in the first halves of seasons. 2. Last year, Peavy's injuries were freak injuries. He won't be running the bases aside from maybe 2-3 games all year, and the ball that hit his arm in AAA was just bad luck. 3. No idea, but we haven't head much about it though, so it might not be that bad. 4. Same, though I think they just shut him down to observe Hudson/Peavy/Garcia and to prevent worsening it. 5. Freddy can still pitch but it's a wildcard. I'll take Hudson as the backup.

Suntimes Peavy Article
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 01:02 AM) My god... if that article doesn't get anyone fired up about not only ST, but this season in general, then I don't know what will. Peavy will be fun to watch all year, especially his competitiveness on the mound. Man, I was already amped for baseball because our open gyms just started at HS, but one thing guys at my school have lacked is drive, which is why I love this line. "I want that dog pile, that memory, that ring. If you're not dreaming of that same thing, I question where you are as an athlete."

Non-Roster Invites
Miguel Gonzalez being included intrigues me, especially since I think Flowers will be dealt at some point this year.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) Note to self: Thank you for quitting on the Family Guy a few years ago, thank you for only watching American Dad once, and thank you... thank you so much, for never considering The Cleveland Show. What a pile of steaming s***. No kidding, why all my friends insist that it is still funny is a world beyond me. And man, trading Chauncey will haunt Detroit for a while.

What is the exact amount in Alexei's contract?
QUOTE (Cubano @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 04:35 PM) KW is probably trying to do the same with some Cubans free agents. Yuniesky Maya may be a target for him. Hmm, if could sign Maya to that and he pitched well, that'd be wonderful.

What's your resolution?
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) I used to live in Bridgeport. Its not third world. Second maybe, but not third. If my memory serves correctly, thats the area with more Churches per square foot than the vatican, though that could have been another area. Mine are simple generic ones - Work out more, eat healthier (amazingly, I've kept these two up) - Girlfriend (would have been done right on New Years...teenage girls and their problems) - Become good enough in baseball so that my coach has to play me over the entitled fools we call a team.

Who is your favorite MLB team outside the Sox?
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 03:26 AM) I respect them as an organization for what they have done, but that doesn't mean I don't hate them. Exactly, I respect a lot of Twins players (Mauer, Hunter when he was there, Santana when he was), but god I hate that club more than the Cubs. Below, me and a Cubs fan. CF: Why do Sox fans hate the Cubbies so much? We concentrate on the Cardinals. Me: You know the Twins? CF: Who? Me: One of the best ****ing run teams in baseball, and the Sox main divisional rival. Trust me, I hate them way more. Also, back to respecting some players... I wanted Santana in the NL, so I got my wish and I still like him. I so wanted Hunter when he became a FA, and can't stand the Angels for swooping out of nowhere to snatch him.

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) Really? I'd be the type to replay the level so I wouldn't die. I think in some interview it said there was no rewinding or something like that. Still an intriguing game nonetheless.
