QUOTE (3E8 @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 10:37 PM) Or throw basestealers out at second from their knees, or score from 2nd on a passed ball...multiple times. And throw a 96 MPH fastball on top of it with the ability to play 3 positions (SS, 3B, C) Dudes got a sweet swing.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) Kids aren't usually able to hit 500 ft HRs either. And that ball didn't land yet, if not for a wall, it could have kept going. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liS3kGvQ9Bk
  3. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 10:10 AM) I've never heard about this game until you mentioned it. It looks awesome. It seems like the story is a movie. If one of the four main characters dies at any point, they stay dead. Just throwing that out. Also, in The Show, does anyone else find the full MiLB rosters online (made by players...) and use them?
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) That's a horrible contract for Cincy. I thought Jocketty was smart...? It doesn't seem as bad as it was spread over 10 years...this deal intrigues me.
  5. The comments section for this MLBTR article are just priceless. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/01/al-central-moves.html And I checked, 28 year old A relief pitcher. Darn name.
  6. Ended just like it started.
  7. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) Frankly this is a huge missed opportunity for some reborn Carlos Castillo humor. I am too young to remember Castillo, I only really got interested in baseball in 2000, and just knew the big names of the Sox (Maggs, Frank, Jose, Durham, Belle when he was around) QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) What is Vizquel like at third? He didn't have any errors there last year in 101 innings and 27 chances.
  8. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 01:10 PM) While Nix doesn't have the pure speed that Lillibridge does, I would rather keep Nix and his versatility over Lillibridge. Nix did fine with the Sox in SBs last year and although his minor league totals are much worse than Lillibridge (SB/CS ratio), Nix is superior in all facets of the game excluding speed, which Nix is pretty solid anyway. Lillibridge can pretty much only pinch run while Nix can play almost anywhere and provide some pop occasionally. I'd still take CJ and his catching ability (again, assuming rotating DH stuff) over either.
  9. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 07:42 AM) And yet having over 2,600+ hits, 800+ steals in 954 atempts, a lifetime average of .294, and a career OBP of .385 can't get a guy in. I'm assuming Raines?
  10. Chapman got a $30M deal from an unknown NL team. Rumored to be Marlins or Nats. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/01/arol...-30mm-deal.html I'm hoping the Nats, that team could use a future. Zimmerman, Harper, Strasburg, and Chapman would be one hell of a core, especially since as shown with Teixeira, they are willing to offer big deals.
  11. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 11:10 AM) Too bad we dont still have pinch runner extraordinaire Clayton Richard Well, let's give Tony Pena something to do.
  12. Does anyone know how fast Retherford is? I could see him making it, since he's learning to catch.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) White Sox DH Jim Thome hands starter Mark Buehrle the game ball before the Opening Day matchup between the White Sox and the Indians. I get the joke, but if Thome looked like that he'd either set a new record for inside-the-parkers or walks. ...or inside the parks on walks.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 08:40 AM) They would still be shooting at game time. Then that's how they'll play, just shooting 3's. Gosh darn it, this is a problem that needs fixing. Also, I want to see the Joakim 3-pointer.
  15. If Retherford makes the roster, it's either because Flowers is gonna stay at AAA to gain value/continue starting or we are going with a rotating DH.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) I believe what you meant to say is that it is universally accepted that the PS3 has superior graphic POTENTIAL. Whereas the XBOX 360 is being stretched to it's graphical limits right now, the PS3 has more and more and more room to grow. Right now, they are pretty much on par, but if Uncharted 2 is any indication, the PS3 is looking to take that next step with it's exclusives. Isn't Uncharted only around 70% PS3's power? That games graphical prowess (and the fact that despite the fantastic graphics, tons of things are happening on screen at any time) is the best I've ever seen (quick note: Huge Naughty Dog fanboy). I'd love to see what ND does with Uncharted 3 (or if my dreams happen, their next Jak and Daxter game). Also, everyones forgetting one minor $100 thing you can buy for a 360 but is built into a PS3, WiFi.
  17. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) What a sloppy game to watch. Yet the Bulls still lose. In other news, there's snow in my backyard.. Vinny needs to take all the players, and have them shoot 3's at practice. When you get 100 3's you can go home.
  18. Kittle. He's going to SoxFest. But between Dye-Thome, Thome.
  19. QUOTE (Sox72 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) It used to be the Cardinals until I recently moved to St. Louis. Now, I can't stand them. It's common to hear that they have the best fans in baseball. What everyone fails to mention is that they are delusional as well. One fan is intent on convincing me that Brendan Ryan is the best shortstop in the NL. I brought up a slew of other names but apparently was being shortsighted because I wasn't taking into account defense. Another was trying to convince me that Wainwright is the best pitcher in the NL. I guess there is at least SOME argument to that, but I hated the fact that he was saying he was a true MLB ace based on one season. And no one is worse than their sports-radio hosts. One week they think the Cardinals can't live without Holliday (when there are rumors that he'll re-sign), the next he is a huge detriment to the team (when he's rumored to sign elsewhere). I have to admit, though, that I've had a hatred for the this particular host after he said before the NHL season that the Blackhawks would miss the playoffs due to losing Khabibulan and the Blues would win the division. Point is, St. Louis fans may be loyal but it's almost to a fault. (Whew.....glad I got that rant off my chest). Go Giants.....what's not to love about a team that has had the likes of Barry Bonds and Jeff Kent on their roster. Plus, their GM always gives out the most fiscally responsible contracts. My god that is true. When my brother went to Mizzou, I couldn't stand the Cards love. When ever he wore his Sox hat people asked him if he wore it because he was a Cubs hating Cardinal fan, but wanted an AL team to root for. There were other things that annoyed him about them, like the aforementioned blind devotion. There was a thing about how the Cardinals should have won the 2005 WS, because they were the definitive best team in baseball that year or something like.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 07:28 AM) I don't know why Crittenton has received a pass so far, but if the incident happened like reported, he'll probably never play in the NBA again. There are reports that the earlier description isn't really what happened, in fact, I read where the gun Crittenton pointed at Arenas was one of Arenas' spares. I think Crittenton has gotten a pass because Arenas was really suspended for his attitude on the subject (allegedly). But still pointing a gun period QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 08:55 AM) That would make sense; you have to wonder as much why 2 of the Wizards would have guns in the locker room as you did when you first heard that one of them did. They ran out of magic wands
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 09:12 AM) Weird, I thought he re-signed with FLA. Boy, I think I have a new 2nd favorite team - the Phillies now have Gload and Wassermann. And as the Phillies players like to call him "DeWayne Wise Mother ****er!!!" Also, Gloads entrance song is Harvester of Sorrow. If he was still here, he and Paulie back to back with that song would be so awesome, the world would explode.
  22. I won't lie, I loved Pods. I really didn't want him to sign in the division, was hoping he'd be a Giant. Oh well, I hope the best for Pods, just not against us.
  23. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) I just don't get what all the big fuss about what Arenas did, they were unloaded weapons...what Crittenton did was actually much worse. Loading a gun and aiming it doesn't seem so bad. Bringing empty ones on the other hand, evil! (FYI, I think both should be suspended, but Crittenton far more so)
  24. Dodgers for me. Koufax is my all time favorite non-Sock.
  25. How many teams like Hinrich and Thomas? Hinrich & Thomas for Boozer Hinrich for Butler Thomas for Harrington Hinrich and Thomas for Bosh\ Anyway, if I could do that for Bosh I would, if I could extend him, since it could be used to try and lure Wade to town.
