  1. A High Schooler? It'd be intriguing if we took one in the first round. Also, I would think the Sox would get a pitcher, due to the lack of depth, but who knows.
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 05:33 PM) I saw some Cubs fans complaining about how New Comiskey was financed with public money and how Jerry is being a hypocrite, honestly I fail to see how that's the same thing. Yeah, it pissed a lot of people off at the time, but that investment's probably paid for itself a couple of times over by now, and plus it's an ACTUAL stadium, not a spring training facility. They're just b****ing for the sake of finding fault. I think its a bit different because it's not making fans of every team in the AL increase their tickets to pay for it, and stadiums are a lot more costly than ST facilities (at least, I'd think so). But also, this would damage all other teams spring training attendance. Part of the fun of ST is going to see a baseball game for cheap. You don't pay ballpark prices, but depending on how much Cubs would want to charge, you could be (and to see essentially scrimmages). So then, you'd only have the Cubs fans (supposedly) go to these games. Wait, thats their plan. Make every Cubs game a home game!
  3. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) If the Knicks offered a future 1st and the expiring contract of Duhon for TT, would you take that? If I got no other (blockbuster) offers at the deadline, probably, but I'd rather Harrington (as was speculated earlier this year) as they'd need a forward and Duhon would be purely a bench player in what would be a recreation of our Guard Logjam from a few years ago that sent Duhon out.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 07:15 PM) I hear what you're saying. Problem is...in the NBA, if you want to be an effective coach, you can't just get sick of those type of players, you have to develop them. Want a great example? Look how Phil Jackson has taken Kobe Bryant from being a total crybaby in 2003-2004 to being an iceman today. Look how many talented guys have languished with crappy coaching and then snapped out of it when they got out of there. Zach Randolph, Jamal Crawford come to mind as examples just from this year. By the time the 3rd straight coach was responding to every situation, whether I was playing well or not, by benching me, I'd be pretty sick of it too. Fair enough. I guess its possible to see the argument from both sides. Also, that Richard dunk was exciting. I like the guy, with his Noah style hair and the fact that he was Noah's backup before, and if I remember right from the postseason, he hustles a lot. Edit: Noah's suit does not disappoint.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) With how the team has "worked with him" during his career...I don't blame him one bit for being detrimental to the team. I'd be detrimental to the team too if the team would rather lose games than play me. The problem has always seemed to be his work ethic. When 3 different coaches get sick of you, something is up.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 05:40 PM) Tyrus Thomas has been suspended for conduct determental to the team for the Bulls next game against Miami. Awesome. God I want to trade him. He's so me-first.
  7. QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 10:00 AM) I've been pumped and waiting for any new Fallout ever since playing 1 & 2. Easily two of the best games ever made. I need to play those games still. Only played 3 so far.
  8. QUOTE (knightd1 @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 12:17 PM) Maybe they should partner up and share a nice new facility with another team and work something else out. That would be blasphemy. The Cubs are a unique club with a long time honored tradition and shouldnt be forced to share a stadium with anyone. But seriously, there's being a crappy team, and then there's being just down right slime. Forcing other teams to pay for you is the later. Edit: It's amazing listening to Cubs fans defend this drek. Seriously, this is just such a crappy thing to do.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 01:27 PM) There's a video going around. Its a guy being interviewed at a brokerage firm on a business channel. Someone in the room behind him eventually starts looking at pictures of topless women on his computer when the guy is speaking and its on camera. That guy didn't stay employed from what I was told. That video made my day on Thursday. It was too priceless, especially because he looked by towards the end of the interview and was all OH SHI----
  10. Isn't there already a thread in the Diamond Club about this? Regardless, gotta hate the Cubs.
  11. QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) it does capture one's attention... Well, it's a large signature. That's what they do.

    QUOTE (Mattchoo @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 06:53 AM) In my opinion, you do everything and anything that doesn't include Hudson. Dan Hudson looks like a core player for future Sox to me I feel there could be possibilities using Alexei or Floyd as the center piece. Some of the scenarios I'm seeing above don't make sense to me. How often are there 5 for 1, or 6 for 1, swaps in MLB trades. I mentioned this trade a long time ago, but how about Floyd, Flowers, Mitchell or D2, Morel, and one other prospect for Gonzo and Young. Going from memory that saves the Padres like 7M this year. Floyd>>>>>>>>>>Young Trading Alexei or Floyd to be able to hold on to Hudson is not a way to build. Both are a lot more essential to the core of the Sox. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 12:30 PM) Today on White Sox weekly, Mike Gonzalez mentioned that A-Gon will likely be dealt, its only a matter of time. The team with the best chance to get him are the Red Sox. Jed Hoyer was the former Assistant GM for the Red Sox and has a great relationship w/ Epstien. With the Red Sox deep farm- and Hoyer's knowledge of all of those prospects, it would be really hard to match up with them. My one hope is that Hoyer asks for prospects he knows are really good, and Epstein might bite.

    QUOTE (Lillian @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 05:06 AM) Would you do that deal? Konerko, with most of his salary paid, J. Danks, Flowers and Hudson for 2 years of A. Gonzalez seems a little steep, but I think I'd be satisfied even with that, especially if Gonzalez could be signed to a long term deal. However, I doubt the Sox would spend the money needed to get him to stay. The problem is the Padres wouldn't want Konerko. They'd want something along the lines of Flowers, Hudson, [A], , [C] [A] Pick 1: Mitchell (as a PTBNL), D2 Pick 1: Morel, Viciedo, Retherford [C] Pick 1/2/3*: Shirek, Hynick, Torres, Nunez, Marrero, Shelby, Gartrell, Santos, Gilmore, etc. * If Mitchell and Morel/Viciedo is taken, pick 1. * If Mitchell-Retherford or Morel/Viciedo-D2, pick 2. * If D2-Retherford, pick 3. Ideally, I'd send them Hudson, Flowers, Morel, Viciedo, Torres, Shelby, and Gartrell. Yes, you lose Hudson, whom can't be replaced in the system. However, you'd only need a fifth starter, and Marquez (if healthy) or Hynick could fill in that role if Freddy goes down. Flowers is gone, but AJ's got I'd say 4-5 years left in the tank, and Phegley could very well replace Flowers. Both Morel and Viciedo departing hurts, but it'd let you hold on to D2 and Mitchell, which I like. because, I know it shouldn't effect it, but keeping D2 could help keep D1 around long term. And keeping Mitchell is perfect. Also, Retherford (I think) played a bit of 3rd, so he could fill in in a pinch. The other three, Torres, Shelby, and Gartrell can be replaced. However, tossing in all three could help entice the Padres.
  14. I kinda want to see how a pitcher would do, since he's standing roughly the same distance.

    QUOTE (Lillian @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 04:02 AM) Thanks fellas for the clarification. Well, wouldn't it be worth it to pay almost all of Konerko's salary for 2010 if the Sox could get Gonzalez without having to give up too many prospects. If they could keep Hudson and Flowers, I'd be in favor of giving the Padres Paulie with as much of his contract paid for as they need to make it work for them. Then give them J. Danks and whatever other prospect they'd want, not including Flowers or Hudson. The deal would require Flowers and Hudson. Giving them Paulie, and paying even $10M of his contract would basically make it so instead of Flowers-Hudson-Viciedo-D2-Other it'd be Flowers-Hudson-Paulie-Other. Essentially, to get Gonzalez, you give up the top of our system (aside from Mitchell or D2, as only one would go)

    QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 03:34 AM) He had the perfect reaction after it went in, just standing there.
  17. Other thoughts from the loss: Man, I miss Joakim. Also, the Bulls signed Chris Richard for 10 days as a stop gap. Since he's in town, anyone know if we could afford another minimum salary? Byars would be nice for 3 point shooting. Edit: Wow, just checked BG's 3pt%. Salmons is worlds better than him this year.
  18. So, is anyone else amped for Fallout: New Vegas after seeing the trailer?
  19. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 12:34 AM) Derrick Rose made me jump like a little kid with that massive one handed dunk against the Hawks... too bad that was the only play and thing the Bulls did right the entire game. Man if anyone can make a freaking shot, Rose's assist numbers would be as high as Rondos. It's like they use a magnetized ball, and the rim was the same polarity. Also, when you're tired, NBA Games begin to look like NBA Jam
  20. Dear Cubs: Pay for your own damn stadium
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 10:33 PM) It's pretty damn cool seeing all of those guys in their college uniforms. They all look so young and cute! This was what I thought, minus the last sentence.

    QUOTE (Lillian @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 07:09 PM) Would the Padres be interested if Konerko could be included with the prospects, especially if the Sox were willing to pay part of his salary? If the Sox paid $6 of the $12 million owed Konerko, that would bring the total cost of A. G. to about $10.75 million for this year, which is still less than they would owe Konerko. That might help entice the Padres, as they would have a replacement at 1B for Gonzalez, which could appease the fans. Konerko would also being staying because not only the reasons as stated above, but he'd become the DH. At least I hope Ozzie has enough respect for Paulie to not put him in a rotating monster.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 05:16 AM) Something tells me he is not going to be interested in being a #2 back. And some team will take him on as their #1 back. At this point in his career, my guess is he isn't a whole lot different than Forte, to be honest. Wouldn't it be something to see him go to those Patriots... Especially after seeing them gloat over him in 06.
  24. LT says he's done as a Charger Well, this is intriguing. Does anyone consider the Bears should consider him as a #2 back? They could use someone to compliment Forte.
  25. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) "They're always after me Lucky Charms!" Who's the Unicorn?
