Official 2009-2010 NBA Thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 5, 2009 -> 08:20 AM) I 100% agree with this. He still is only 24 going on 25, so there is time for him to figure it out. You have to wonder if he ever will though. I watch his interviews, and it just seems like everything is a big joke to him, its like watching wrestling interviews. He always makes the faces and the poses and answers questions like a douche. It's not just the maturity...he has such a large ego, and it's different than Michaels. The fact that LeBron thinks he could be a super-star in the NFL? It's so full of crap...at least Jordan actually went to the other sport, and that was because it was what his Dad had wanted to see. LeBron likes to pick on people he dominates. As seen at the HOF speech...so does Michael, but if I know correctly, he had rivalries with the people he mentioned, and he never did it on the court. I can bet you Jordan never would have walked off the court and cried after getting dunked on at a clinic. Edit: Also, the guy has fathered 2 kids...one at age 19...he needs to grow up if he's gonna have kids.

Seattle ahead of the pack for Figgins?
This is a really good deal by the Mariners, especially since even if you get Ichiro out now, you still will have to worry about the guy behind him.

Official 2009-2010 NBA Thread
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 10:11 PM) I said it earlier in this thread that as a person, the guy is a complete jackass. His ego/immaturity is beyond sickening. He is an amazing player, tremendous talent, but the s*** he does is just foolish. I guess we can say Noah ruined our chances on landing him next season though. http://blogs.bulls.com/chicago_bulls_blog/...vs-victory.html When this guy says you're being a clown You're being a clown. Apparently, LeBron took the low road and said Noah was just mad cause he can't help his team. One of these day's I hope the clown gets put in his place, and this makes me happy, because I don't want him anywhere near the team next year.

Interesting Sox Prospect List
I liked that list...only thing I disagree about is Danks, because I think he could turn into a really good defensive OF with a little above average bat.

Sox mentioned to have interest in Padilla
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 08:00 AM) That's kind of my point - he either can, or cannot, say he knows a lot about some given team. He's willing to post a rumor of obvious silliness like this, but mocks a rumor that was more well-supported and logical about Adrian Gonzalez. Basically, if he can find something obscure that hasn't been wide-published yet, he'll prefer that because it makes his site look better. Something that the rest of the world got first, he'll set a higher bar to be recognized. Its just him defending his turf, which is somewhat understandable, but still hypocritical. Because SoxNet isn't sponsored by ESPN. Speaking of ESPN, their White Sox depth chart is absolute bull****. http://espn.go.com/mlb/teams/depth?team=chw Edit: Man, Wise is still on there.

Sox mentioned to have interest in Padilla
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 11:07 PM) So they blow off the Adrian Gonzalez stuff, but expect us to believe the guy who has been throwing at our players for years, to the extent that we banned to AAA a player who wouldn't retaliate back, and yet we are after him? What f***ing idiots. AJ would aim for his head when he's throwing the ball back to the mound.

Kenny Williams interview
QUOTE (League @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 06:01 AM) So, if this is your logic, you must think Gavin Floyd is pretty horrible as well, right? Career: 36-29 - 4.67 ERA - .259 avg - 1.37 WHIP Man, this guy must have sucked: 34-45 - 4.28 ERA - 1.338 WHIP ...oh wait. That's Greinke pre-2009.

Thornton
QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 01:33 AM) I looked at the picture, and your Avatar seemed to have the perfect reaction.

2010 MLB Catch-All Thread
Well, that would make Gordon the AL's premier 2B.

Thornton
Thornton only goes if we get a mega-star in return, because he's the best LH setup man in the game, and has huge trade value with his contract.

White Sox sign Andruw Jones
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 1, 2009 -> 10:56 AM) Morel shouldn't factor in to Joe Crede getting what would essentially be an invite to spring training. The minor league contract part of that is an informality, as most of the time guys like that have a clause written in where if they aren't going to make the major league team, they are to be released so that they have the chance to catch on somewhere else if they want. Crede wouldn't be going to Charlotte. Exactly, never plan you're signings (especially minor league offers) on AA prospects.

White Sox sign Andruw Jones
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 11:39 PM) I don't want any part of his bat. Maybe I should have clarified.... If he was healthy (could get over back issues) and possibly return to '06 form, I'd be ecstatic.

White Sox sign Andruw Jones
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) Crede trying to do what Pods did last year...hmm... If it came down to accepting a minor league deal, I wonder if his top two choices would be here and his hometown Royals. If Crede could return I'd be ecstatic to have that glove and bat back at third.

Red Sox maybe not desperate for a SS
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 05:03 PM) why is Boston seem to be so willing to trade Ellsbury? A great leadoff hitter, young, probably still cheap, I would think you would want to hold onto him. I think Scott said it on page 2 but... They have great farm depth, along with the fact they could get in a Granderson sweepstakes to replace him.

I want Shack to call into White Sox Weekly and this debate to happen again, it'd be radio gold.

Fangraphs White Sox draft review
In summation: '09 - Has potential to be very good. '08 - Slayerific with extra goodness in Huddy, D2, and Morel. '07 - Not wonderful, but Poreda helped nab Peavy. '06 - Sucked.

Report: Selig to step down in 2012
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 29, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) He has also not done enough to keep the small market teams respectable in the sport, unlike most of the other major sports. The draft and the handling of international players is still a complete disaster when compared to baseball and hockey especially. Yea, the draft is downright awful, international prospects start bidding wars and generally are the top rookies as they've had great seasoning (essentially meaning: More money=what would be the #1 pick), and its amazing how small the level of different playoff teams are each year.

Wow, should have been pass interference on that last one... God INT's shouldn't count when its mainly the WR's fault.

White Sox sign Andruw Jones
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 29, 2009 -> 02:05 PM) Are you guys worried about our team speed heading into next year? Ranger? Others? Yes or no. Only reason I dislike the Andruw Jones signing, because it knocks De Aza off the roster as the speed guy from the bench, unless we really do have a rotating DH. Though Alexei, Rios, Beckham aren't slow and could all have possibly 20 SB. If we get Pods he could have 40 SB, but be caught 15+ times. But who am I kidding. Paulie will have 100 SB.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 06:33 PM) /destruction of the universe, Rickey-style. Well, Rickey seems like the guy to go out with a bang.

Red Sox maybe not desperate for a SS
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 12:30 PM) He's probably not better than Jenks right now, although their ERAs were pretty much the same, but he may be by April and he'll be about $6.5 million cheaper for the 2010 season. I do know KW loves this guy but so does Theo. I don't think the Red Sox would make this offer even though Alexei is very cheap for his position and production. For KW it would be a no brainer. Bard doesn't have to close. They can use Thornton to close, and with the financial savings, sign Hudson or Polanco, add a DH and you could seriously talk about the WS again. Its too nice for the Sox. It could never happen. I'm thinking some reasoning behind the deal would be Theo Epstein sometimes does deals for the sake of doing deals (Kotchman-LaRoche, and I can't see any other reason for Kotsay-Anderson). Plus, you get the possibly elite SS in Alexei and a closer backup plan/setup man in Bobby.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 03:03 PM) The big question, why couldn't a scientist just clone Rickey Henderson? The paradox. Rickey would be confused, because Rickey is the best of all time. But if Rickey is the best of all time, then how is Rickey the best of all time?
