I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Allen had probably no future with this team, but he was a very, very nice trading chip. We just traded him for the wrong guy.

What happened to the Sox I used to know? The guys that wouldn't take **** from no one? Was it over when Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? NO! And this isn't over until we decide it is! We will beat the Tigers in Game 162 to pull even with the Twins, and then, Jake Peavy will pitch nine shutout innings before Paulie bombs the concourse, right next to Thome's plaque, to walk off into the playoffs.

At least theres some good news in the wake of no Thome .

I already miss Thome. Man was always a class act when he was here, made everyone happy off the field and sometimes on. Guess this solves the DH dilemma for next year, unless we dump JD to.

No way it's on Kenny. Turned Anderson into Pods. Wise into Rios. Richard into Peavy. Colon into Freddy. Fields into Kotsay. Gobble into Pena. Betemit into Beckham. Miller into Castro. Lillibridge into Nix. Kenny filled a lot of holes, it's just players aren't nearly living up to their potential. We had five .300 hitters (Pods, Beckham, JD, Paulie, AJ) and now only have one. And only two guys batting better than .280. We had the best bullpen in baseball the beginning of the year. The only players that have gotten better over the year is the rotation, but apparently Buehrle peaks with perfection and goes to hell after that. It's the players fault, because this team should be far from medicore, but they just don't live up to the talent. Only Getz and Beckham are allowed to be less than they can be, because they are rookies starting their first year at the major league level.

For what it's worth, I never though Brandon Allen had much of a future with the Sox. I though he was a pretty trading piece. It's just we got a bad return on him.

Of course there was Don't Stop Believin' in '05, so whats this years? I'm going with Hotel California as we can't get out of hell, no matter how hard we try.

I root till math says no more. We got 6 games left against Detroit. If Ozzie would just go off like he used to, throw something under the bus, just something, is the spark it needs. He needs to be controversial ("I retire if we win this year") for them to get their mojo. Buehrle might finally come out of his slump, Floyd is dealing, Danks is a warrior, Peavy is a Cy Young (not a fat one too!) and Freddy still looks like he could be Big Game. Was gonna put this in the important AJP and KW thread, but seemed more appropriate here... I see Dotel returning, for the sole fact that Tony Pena isn't Dotel Lite. Dotel has improved this year (maybe everyone should have hugged Obama?) and has given up less (7) home runs than last year. After Thornton and healthy Bobby, Dotel is the most reliable guy we got. Unless JD goes on a tear this final month, he's the odd man out, but if he does, he'll stay and Thome will go. If Alexei is traded, it's gonna be a blockbuster deal. Like, Alexei-Flowers/Viciedo-Hudson/Torres-Retherford/Nix for Dan Haren or another #1 or #2 type pitcher. If that happened, I'd see Beckham moving back to short and a FA 3B like Crede (Ex-White Sock, '05 Member) or Figgins (Kenny Williams kind of guy). If Nix is shipped out, expect another super-sub (Uribe, the Original Nix) to be brought in. If Figgins is brought on, Pods is likely gone, and this leaves a spot in the OF. Even if Thome is retained and Pods out the door, no way JD is still in the OF, so this could be anything from a big FA splash (Holliday?) or a trade (somehow prying Crawford from the Rays) or re-signing Kotsay to play in the OF full time. Fifth Starter could be any of these guys: Hudson, Garland (Only because he and Buehrle are still pals, and Buehrle is the one that got Pods a job this year), Freddy (he could be a serviceable #5), Haren (see above trade), Halladay (see above trade), Harden (FA), Bedard (FA), or Washburn (FA). Here's all the different ways 2010 could look... Rotation: Buehrle Peavy Danks Floyd Hudson/Garland/Garcia/Haren/Halladay/Harden/Bedard/Washburn Lineup C - AJ 1B - Konerko 2B - Getz SS - Ramirez/Beckham (if Ramirez is moved) 3B - Beckham/Figgins(Ramirez traded)/Crede (if Ramirez is traded and Pods retained or Figgins in LF) LF - Podsednik/Holliday/Figgins/Crawford/Kotsay (if none of the previous 4 can be had) CF - Rios RF - Quentin DH - Dye/Thome/Podsednik (if Holliday could be signed and Thome and Dye are both gone) Bench Kotsay Nix/Uribe Castro/Flowers (long shot) Hopefully Not Wise/Fields (Ozuna or Harris?) Bullpen: Pena Williams Nunez Dotel Linebrink Carrasco Thornton Jenks
