Fathoming Bauer not securing a job anywhere?
He's saying it because he made a big, bold declaration that he would become a Cubs fan due to TLR. It worked out like his ban bets.

But if the players acquiesced, they would give us free nachos and parking.

Olympics
What are you talking about? Russia is not competing. The Russian Olympic Committee comprised of Russian athletes are, with Putin in attendance.

Law Top 100
I really liked Pilkington and was bummed we traded him (then REALLY bummed when Hernandez sucked), but on whose list is he a top prospect? He's not on Law's Top 20 or Pipeline's Top 30.

MLB: "We would like a federal mediator" The first ever Secretary of Labor to be the leader of a union offers to help: "Wait no." Walsh is also a massive raise the minimum wage guy, so I can't imagine he loves the minor league pay structure introduced by the "Save America's Pastime Act"

Well, here's a saving grace: The pick is extremely valuable to Portland in this case, because they can't trade any first round picks to improve their team until 2028. Then it turns into a 2nd rounder. If the Bulls are looking at Poeltl, they may as well get in on the Trail Blazers firesale and look at Nurkic.

Yeah, ever since the Schroeder/Poeltl rumors emerged, they make so much sense. This becomes your top 11 when healthy: Lonzo/Schroeder LaVine/Ayo DeMar/Caruso DDJ/Javonte/Williams (being brought back slowly) Vuc/Poeltl Problem is, you essentially need to turn Coby, Brown, and very limited picks into Poeltl and Schroeder. That's a tall order. With McKinnie, Hill, Thomas, Cook, and Bradley as depth, assuming none are traded. Vuc and DeMar get much needed rest and there's plenty of defense.

What Didn't You Learn in High School*
I keep trying to get my wife to talk to her dad - who used to be an accountant until he recently retired - to open an investing account. She has an insane amount in savings due to a lot of fiscal know-how on her part. He told her she needs to make her money work for her, she took that to mean "get a savings account with interest." She thinks that means only a savings account, because that's the only safe method in her mind. I've encouraged her to talk to him about Series I bonds (7.12% initial interest rate) if she wants more security in investing The crazy thing is, she's been saving since she entered the workforce 10 years ago. I only really started saving since mid-2019, when I had both a financial wake up call and got a better paying job, and I have roughly 40% of her savings due to using apps like Acorns and Digit. Edit: In lieu of Parkman's post, my savings are spread across an IRA, investing account, and a savings account. New job recently added a pension with matching contributions from work.

The MLB lockout is lifted!
As we see with the Sox, ticket sales go up with a good team. Therefore, spending on players = better ticket sales. Damn, we cracked the code.

Well, yes. If 30 Bill Veeck clowns owned the MLB teams, this would be a real fun league.

With Matt Thomas playing 33 minutes, I'll take this game being as close as it was. Bulls need to stock up. Post LeVert, I'm honestly most worried about the 76ers in the playoffs, not the Nets or Bucks. Cavs are now worrisome.

Yeah, I was one of those people that was like "athletes are paid too much!" when I was like, 10. Then when you realize what their bodies go through, the stress, not seeing their families, less privacy, the fact that they are the best in the world at their profession with very limited jobs and short careers, and well fuck. Seems rightfully paid to me, especially in lieu of stuff like this: That doesn't even count stuff like LeBron dragging them to the finals and the revenue that generated.

Just nuked value of the Portland pick. They're asking for a first + "quality" player. Is Coby + Portland pick enough for Poeltl? Do that plus Brown for Schroeder - do we feel like that's enough?* *Once everyone returns in 5-7 weeks.

Long story short is what we already know: With Ball-Lavine-Caruso-DeRozan-Vuc on the floor, the Bulls are scary. Take that away and it hurts.
