  1. This is just one profile, but I remember when the Bulls drafted Jimmy the report on him was that he wasn't athletic. He was basically a good defender, could draw fouls, and he got slapped with the dreaded tweener label. https://www.espn.com/blog/boston/celtics/post/_/id/4685044/draft-profile-jimmy-butler Adding DraftExpress as well: https://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Jimmy-Butler-6315/ Not saying Ayo is gonna be Jimmy, but I feel like you'd be hard pressed to find someone say Jimmy isn't athletic. It feels like the athletic label only gets applied to speed demons or guys who have springs in their legs, when so much more goes into athleticism.
  2. Pax is sitting here grinning as he listens to jeers of "GarPax sucked ass" on the radio while he walks past AK in the Advocate Center and cashes "special advisor" checks.
  3. Hollinger basically trashed it as the worst signing of the offseason. This tweet aged well:
  4. The only non-AKME players on the roster are Zach and Coby. Crazy turnaround time.
  5. This should be universally agreed on, but will not be.
  6. I'm loving the Ayo pick more and more.
  7. Clearly, it's cause Jeff Tanaka was there:
  8. Woke people from 30 years ago: And the National Congress of American Indians:
  9. My guess is they try to sign him to a bargain extension.
  10. Re: P-Will, anyone think Harry Giles might be worth a flier? Talent has always been there, he's just had but injuries have hampered him, so he'd be a low risk.
  11. He was President of Basketball Ops as well. Thibs should only coach.
  12. I retract my earlier statement upon further review and admit my biases were similar to old school dudes who get wowed by flash plays.
  13. Yes, because we clearly haven't negotiated with Boras clients in recent years.
  14. DDR....really needed to hand it to Zach there.
  15. Well this end game just real interesting real fast.
  16. He definitely didn't deserve a SS nomination. Gold Glove is a travesty.
  17. In honor of Halloween, the sarcasm is thicker than a snicker.
  18. Back when Hosmer was a free agent and they could have moved on from Abreu, it would have been a BIG MOVE to get mega star and Royals hero Eric Hosmer. Plus, he was Top Tier, of the A-Class Free Agents. The friends and family plan was stupid and the Sox shouldn't have relied on options to woo Machado. But you know? We aren't reportedly telling teams to take a Top 50 prospect (if not Top 20) to get out of Alonso and Jay.
  19. no i completely forgot who was it
  20. - 3-way deal that doesn't happen unless Cashman gets into Preller's coke stash. Kimbrel, Yermin to Padres Gallo, Abrams to White Sox Keuchel, Hosmer, Adolfo, and fat stacks of cash to the Yankees. - Sign Semien. - Sign Quintana as a swingman to cover Kopech's transition to the rotation. - Re-sign Tepera. - Re-sign Rodon. - Re-sign Leury, properly use him. What they will do: - Sign Escobar - Offer Rodon QO, let him walk. - Re-sign Tepera - Trade Jake Burger in a move that infuriates half the board, makes half the board happy a la Dunning-for-Lynn (but not that caliber).
  21. I love this because it backtracks on itself. "He was on the VERY back end...of the A Tier." Like, you're trying so hard to discount Keuchel as a free agent signing that summer while also acknowledging that he actually was fairly ranked. He got higher than projected by MLBTR, but w/e. You probably would have been happy if they gave #3 free agent Eric Hosmer an albatross contract, even though the rankings from the time basically say "yeah, this contract is gonna be fucking crippling." Keuchel sucked last year. The defense sure didn't help, but neither did giving up home runs. Hopefully rebuilding innings can help him. If not, he's likely gone (I don't see the team letting him get to 160 IP if he pitches the same way).
  22. I would not at all be shocked if they retire Jo's number tomorrow. This is the teaser clip: Then look at all the people showing up. Miller, Kirk, Asik, Luol, Kurt Thomas all retired and are showing up. Rose, Taj, and Thibs with the Knicks.
  23. I mean the last thing I'm worried about is Tony getting a paycheck.
  24. Couldn't have happened to a bigger jackass on the team. Love it. 7dh72w.mp4
  25. Pre-2005 Ozzie is perfect for that team. Post-2005, when a team loaded with under-performing highly paid veterans needs highly heralded prospects to come up and perform:
