Sox close to signing Juan Uribe Jr

Fuck yes - Uribe was one of my favorite Sox. His arm at shortstop was so sick and that defense in 9th inning of World Series was fucking awesome!

I loved Juan Uribe Sr. so I couldn't be happier to hear this.  I wish him nothing but the best.  I wish we had someone like his Dad on the Sox right now.

Wonder if Juan Jr. has a coke can like his pops

I love this purely for sentimental reasons.

There seems to be zero information on this player other than the little tape we have seen from HG. But I support signing all the Jrs.

Juans catch in the 9th of game 4 made Jeters catch look kinda lame.

If Uribe would have done that wearing pinstripes (or even in a Red Sox uniform), there would be an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary on the catch.
They would interview the fans in the area, who would talk about Uribe in reverence.
They would have statements from the nacho vendor in the area.

Joe Buck would have even said something positive to describe it.

Where is Uribe Jr. playing right now?

Considering the circumstances, that was one of the greatest catches ever imho ?

I would rather look for MIke Trout Jr., but sure.

How old is he?

Probably 16ish to be in this international class.

Thanks. I kinda figured but thought possibly upper teens. I couldn’t find an answer but I assume you are correct.

Mike Jr probably wouldn't have the killer stache though

Judging by the kids standing next to him, yup. Unless he was held back in school. He’s built like a senior already. Wonder if he’s a 3rd baseman with that body. Cant tell how tall he is tho

Sr wasn’t exactly built like a SS either but he made it work.

Freddie Prinze, Jr.?

Actually, Uribe is probably my all-time favorite "complementary" White Sox player...especially in terms of personality and how he was beloved by his teammates.  I think Mark Buehrle even was willing to take a pay cut one year just to keep him around.  That guy could drive a runner in from 3rd with less than 2 outs with the best of them, seemingly better than even Crede at that one aspect.   Great great plus arm and excellent range.  Had that one year after the trade where he was flirting with .400 after two months.  That insane Montreal game we somehow lost where he had around 8 RBI's (pretty sure we messed up a bunt at the end) and it was started by one of the most unforgettably over hyped pitching prospects (Arnie Munoz). Shaped like a combination of a spark plug and weiner dog.   You could always identify him on the field just by that alone.  One of the most unorthodox/distinctive RH swings and follows throughs in recent memory. Surprising pop/power.

he looks a lot like his daddy at SS, same mechanisms.
